  1. I think commentating is a lot harder than people think. You're live and everything you say is heard by millions. Sure you can prepare ahead of time and do research and have ideas about what you wanna say. But when it comes down to it, you're just kind of going with the flow of the game. I'm sure the majority of people would say at least one "stupid" thing each game when they're thinking off the top of their heads.
  2. I heard that and I don't think that's what he meant. They were talking about how the Brewers weren't very good with fundamentals lately and they mentioned asking something in Brewers Live about whether that bunt was called or not. Then he said let's just score a bunch of runs so it doesn't matter. In other words, why don't we have a blowout for once. I get that Schroeder isn't the greatest and says dumb things sometimes. But in the grand scheme of broadcasters, he's actually pretty decent. And I think you're just looking for something to call him out on here.
  3. Alright, I can't stand Roenicke either. He is probably my least favorite Brewers manager (I liked Macha's baseball decisions but disliked his personality). But I swear every other post of yours is about how much Roenicke sucks, how he should be fired, etc. I think we all know where you stand so maybe keep it to one Roenicke-hating post a day, including IGT?
  4. Just because Aoki singled doesn't excuse Weeks' mental error.
  5. I would keep Kottaras over Conrad and Maysonet. I don't think I'd keep him over Ransom, however, because I don't want Izturis as the only option at short. The problem is there are three players (Lucroy, Ishikawa, Izturis) coming back and only 2 real options to send out. So it comes down to who is the last guy sent out. Would you rather have Izturis play SS all day, everyday and send out Ransom, keep Ransom and send out one of Kottaras/Maldonado, or keep both Kottaras/Ransom and send out Green? I think Taylor Green could be an asset if he actually got any PT. It's hard to perform (especially as a younger player) when you're only getting 5-6 ABs a week. So for me, it comes down to Kottaras/Ishikawa. I think 1B could be covered with Hart/Green and Kottaras could fill in if needed. I wouldn't start Ishikawa at 1B ever anymore so I think he's expendable. Unfortunately, Roenicke seems to love him so he will most likely stay. My guess is Kottaras is kept with Green, Conrad, and Maysonet shipped out. With the DH, Green had opportunities to start at DH, 3B, 2B, and 1B each game and only managed 1 start. I know there's been a few lefties out there but I have to believe Green is a better hitter overall than Maysonet and Ransom. I can't find Green's minor league splits but I don't think a player can have a .900+ OPS without being able to handle lefties at least somewhat adequately. Yet he only has 5 PA against a lefty this year, with a hit, BB, and HBP. Give the kid a chance already Roenicke!
  6. I think everyone here would pull the trigger easily on that. Unfortunately, Baltimore probably wouldn't.
  7. He does play amazing defense and hits LHP better than Morgan, although that isn't saying much. Gomez is just frustrating because he has all sorts of talent and plays hard (sometimes too hard). I wish he could just find a way to harness his natural ability and improve his baseball IQ.
  8. I really hate how high up the camera view is. You can't really get a good idea of where each pitch is height-wise. Glad we only play at MIN once a year.
  9. Yep, I believe he's been wearing that for quite awhile, just to protect his wrists on head-first slides.
  10. How do you know whether they lowballed him? Because we didn't offer him a $125 million contract? The Brewers can't afford to sign Greinke to something like that. You have to be realistic and realize that the Brewers are a small-market team. The fact that they have a $100 million payroll this year doesn't mean they are no longer small-market. $100 million is not sustainable long-term. CC and Prince were both the top 2-3 FAs available during their class so it's not a surprise that neither were resigned. Greinke will probably be one of the top in his class as well. Yes it sucks to lose players like that but we need to realize that we will probably never be able to keep those superstars, unless you get a Braun-like contract. And Braun is a special kind of player, in that he took certainty and comfort over the risky big payday. We should focus on enjoying 5 years of control of a player (or less depending on whether traded for them) and then cycling them out for younger, cheaper, and hopefully talented players.
  11. I doubt they do the Greinke trade if they already had Sabathia. I think this thread is starting to get out of control with stuff that happened/could have happened (i.e. keeping Hardy but still trading for Greinke/Marcum, resigning Sabathia but still trading for Greinke). The Greinke/Marcum trades happened because of the moves that did/didn't occur in previous seasons.
  12. It's not so much to protect Aoki but to protect Gomez. Gomez is perhaps the best defensive CF in the game so it's nice to use him against lefties. I was assuming Hart would still be on the team next year so he will either be in RF or at 1B with perhaps Gamel in RF. I wouldn't mind Hart being traded cuz I think he could bring back some good value. If that happens, I wouldn't mind Aoki in RF, though he probably doesn't have the arm for that full-time. I love Aoki but in reality, his best full-time defensive position is LF because his arm isn't that great.
  13. I think CF is the last position the Brewers need to add to. They already have Gomez, Morgan, Aoki, and Schafer who could all play there. Granted you will probably be platooning a combo of those guys but I don't think the difference in production would outweigh what it would cost. Plus, Bourn is almost 30, an age where a lot of guys tend to start trending downward. Personally, I'd get rid of Morgan, platoon Aoki/Morgan and use Schafer as a backup everywhere.
  14. I think tonight seals it for me that now is the time to start looking into offers for Greinke, Marcum, KRod, Hart, etc. Basically field offers for everyone. Obviously they have to be good (or even great in some cases) returns. I wouldn't trade anyone just to get rid of them (minus guys like Conrad, Ishikawa, Izturis, Maysonet, etc.) but the Brewers this year are just not a playoff team. I think they had a really good shot at the beginning of the year but then injuries happened to positions where we didn't have the depth and some key guys we counted on have just sucked. Even with a weaker division and not being technically out of it, I still don't think they would be able to compete with other playoff-caliber teams. Now is the time to maximize returns and seriously look into selling off some pieces. Maybe hold off until early July to actually pull the trigger (so teams will know whether they are still truly in it or not) but it wouldn't hurt to get names out there and see what potential returns will be. I might actually be upset if they don't become sellers because I know this team just doesn't have the talent this year to compete and I'd hate to lose the chance to improve the club because we thought we might have a chance to maybe make the playoffs. Again, not advocating trades just for the sake of trading but I really think Greinke could bring back an all-star prospect. Draft picks are nice but so are stud prospects closer to the majors.
  15. Brewers' D comin up huge tonight. Now if only they could hit.
  16. I don't know that I have ever seen 3 bunts in a row either... Yeah, it isn't like Garza is on the mound... Well, apparently I got it wrong and it was only 2 bunts. I thought Maysonet bunted to lead it off but it was just a crappy dribbler that looked like a bunt.
  17. I don't think I've ever seen 3 bunt singles in a row. Shocking.
  18. Marcum has done really well in his 9 or whatever months here, except for about 6 weeks. Yes those 6 weeks were the most crucial but we most likely don't make the playoffs without him. I don't want to resign him for 4 or whatever years but I wouldn't mind having him again for next year. I'd rather keep him and offer him the new arby. If he takes it, we have a good pitcher for another year. If he doesn't, we get more high draft picks. I think keeping him for another year/the draft picks are worth more than anything he would bring back for a half season.
  19. I (and probably a few others mentioned that). We know he wants to play for a winner. We could give him that chance this year while also make us better for the future. Explain that situation to him (our intent on trading him is to make us a better team for the next few years, not because we don't want him). Then make a run at him in the offseason. I still don't think the Brewers have the talent to compete in the playoffs (and thats IF they could even make the playoffs) so I'd rather sell. But at this point, its still too early. If by early July they are like 7-8 back and playing like they were a few weeks ago (i.e. crap), then I'd look into offers (ideally for Profar, Machado, or Castellanos).
  20. For what I read was slightly below slot value? I think this is going to be beneficial with a lot of players signing earlier and getting into camp. When's the last time we saw our 1st round pick playing right out of the gate? Of course we've drafted quite a few pitchers and HS pitchers we move slowly, college arms we are careful with because they've thrown a lot of innings. But it'll be nice to see him play for Helena(guessing) and hopefully get off to a .400 start and pop a few HR's to give us some hope coming into next year. I mean, Trout went 28th(or 27th)...the pick that we were SUPPOSE TO HAVE(calm down....starting to turn green...shirt starting to tear....woo-saa.....alright...better now) when the Yankees decided to sign Mark Texiera as well and based on the flawless system Trout was snatched right out of our hands because we had the #2 FA and the Yankee's signed both #1 AND #2. God I with Tex was a Red Sox right now. I don't know if you actually read anything about Roache but he broke his wrist and had pins and such inserted. He most likely will not be playing anywhere this summer.
  21. Well I basically just asked if they thought I wasn't experienced enough or over-qualified. I said if it was a matter of being overqualified, that it wouldn't be a problem for me and that I would basically be willing to work for whatever salary. I also just wanted to know if there was anything I could work on in the future to improve. If they couldn't say anything, it would've at least been nice to get a response saying that.
  22. I just started with Corey Hart and went down the list to pick out other outfielders starting with "H" Corey Hart 6'6", 235 lbs Bryce Harper 6'3", 215 lbs (I'm sure he'll fill out, and will remain an OF when he's 235 lbs or so) Chris Heisey, 6'0", 220 lbs Eric Hinske, 6'2", 235 lbs Matt Holliday, 6'4", 235 lbs Torii Hunter, 6'2", 225 lbs Why would 6'5", 240 preclude someone from playing the OF? It seems pretty common for MLB OFs to be big and tall. Besides, he's played enough outfield in his minor league career that baseball-reference lists him as "first baseman and outfielder." I doubt he wins a gold glove, but he probably won't embarrass himself. I don't think those help your case. 2-3'' is actually a pretty big difference in height. And Corey Hart and Matt Holliday aren't exactly considered good fielders. I think LaHair will be pretty good in terms of power for the next few years but he is almost 30. And I don't think he'll make a great, good, or even average outfielder in terms of defense. If we could get him for nothing (C-level prospect), sure I'd think about it. But I definitely wouldn't give up anything of value.
  23. I hate applying for jobs. And then interviewing for ones that you might be over-qualified for (at least in terms of schooling). Then actually getting your hopes up because the interview seemingly went well and it seemed like a great place to work. Then getting a rejection email. Then following up asking why exactly you weren't a fit and getting no response.
