  1. I'm all for cancer research but I think they could have come up with a better name/slogan than "stand up 2 cancer." I don't know, it just sounds dumb, like cancer is some kind of bully that's picking on everyone. In a way it kind of is but I still think it's a weird name.
  2. Obviously, but the manager should be putting the team in the best position to succeed. And Roenicke's done a lot so far (Gomez in 2 hole, Kotsay in CF, Kotsay over Nyjer, overusing Loe, not hitting Lucroy higher, etc.) this year that haven't put the team in the best position to win (IMO).
  3. Wow, another pretty solid play from Yuni. Another SS probably would have gotten to it sooner but it was still a pretty nice play.
  4. Alright I have to ask...Are you Ron Roenicke?
  5. I don't get it either. I get that Gomez has been scuffling at the plate and could use a day off but why do it at Petco (where defense is needed) and why use Kotsay over Boggs? I would love to hear Roenicke's thinking on this but he'll probably make up some dumb excuse again.

  7. Kotsay starting in CF again tonight. I understand Gomez may need a break but why not Boggs? Does Roenicke have no faith in him whatsoever? I think Kotsay's defense will negate any walks that he can provide, especially in a ballpark like Petco. Nyjer can't get back soon enough.
  8. Exactly. Some guys can throw a ton of innings and still be effective. That doesn't seem to be the case with Loe. But obviously nobody is going to be able to change backupcatchers mind on this.
  9. This is one of those starts that seems like an awful one for Wolf. Sure he's only given up 2 runs but he allowed 9 baserunners in 5+ and a lot of his outs were hit hard. Plus he threw a ton of pitches and worked incredibly slow.
  10. Yes, that's probably where my original comment came from. It always seems like he's in trouble. Even when he doesn't give up many runs, it seems like he's giving up baserunners and getting hit hard.
  11. Honestly, I don't know if he is. 4.17 ERA last year, 4.4 ERA this year so far. What exactly were you expecting? He'll probably be overpayed next year but he's earned his money so far.I know Wolf was pretty good after the break last year. I just want some consistency out of him. It seems like he's either lights out or getting completely lit up.
  12. I get what you're saying but that wouldn't be fair. Just be happy we only make a few trips out west a year. You have to either tough it out and go on less sleep or don't watch/listen to the game.
  13. His career numbers weren't good (or bad) enough to show he wasn't a good 2 hole guy? I get that he's only 25 and has the tools and everything but I think his career numbers were enough to show he shouldn't have been in the 2 hole. He should have started in the 7 or 8 spot to begin with. Then if his spring success continued for a few months, then maybe you think about moving him up if someone else was struggling.
  14. I've been a Marcum fan for the past 3 or 4 years (started with having him on my fantasy team). Before Greinke even got hurt I said that Marcum could easily be our best pitcher this year. After following him for a few years and knowing what his stuff was like, I figured the transition out of the AL East to the NL would make him even better. Hopefully he keeps it up.
  15. Why does Roenicke have to keep putting him at #2? What has Gomez done in his career to justify that? I would consider myself a Gomez supporter (at least his defense and batting lower in the order) but there's no way he should be hitting second. I like that Haudricourt was blunt about telling Roenicke he shouldn't be there. Who knows, maybe he listened because Gomez is 8th tonight.
  16. I don't know how much guys go up to the plate thinking "I haven't played in this stadium before so I don't know what to expect." Sure some guys hit better in certain stadiums but facing a new stadium is kind of a funny excuse for not hitting well. I'm sure Yuni won't be as bad as he's been going forward (kind of hard to be much worse) but even if he hits his career numbers, that won't be very good.
  17. So when he runs down a ball that no one else in the league would probably get to, will you say "what a surprise, Gomez caught that." My point is everyone focuses on everything negative he does and not enough of his positive. Like many have said, if he was hitting 7th or 8th, his offense wouldn't be as big of a deal.Geez, I make one comment and people automatically assume that I hate Gomez and only criticize him. He is great defensively, and I don't mind him if he's hitting low in the order. Either way, his crappy at-bats will piss me off though. All I was doing was making a comment that he pops out a lot. I didn't say anything else about him. He definitely brings value to this team in certain areas. I love his defense.Ok. I know he pops out a lot too. I'm just starting to get sick of people criticizing every mistake he makes but not giving him credit for the good things he does. I wasn't sure which camp you were in.
  18. Just have to say it's "Shaun." Not to be spelling/grammar police but I've seen you say "Shawn" in like 5 in-game threads already. It just bugs me when fans don't even know how to spell their players' names. It makes them look uninformed (not that you are).
  19. I can't believe a baseball player made an out.Gomez pops out quite often. All I'm trying to say there. So when he runs down a ball that no one else in the league would probably get to, will you say "what a surprise, Gomez caught that." My point is everyone focuses on everything negative he does and not enough of his positive. Like many have said, if he was hitting 7th or 8th, his offense wouldn't be as big of a deal.
  20. Really? We're already talking crap about him? The guy has been pretty good so far this month (small sample I know). It's not his fault he's in the 2 hole.
