  1. If we didn't have a 4 man bench, we could pinch-hit Gomez here and not have Kotsay face a lefty. He's lucky to get a walk there.
  2. I've always wondered how some of the more informed fans (like those who post here) would do managing a team. Sometimes it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to replicate (or even improve upon) what some managers do. I'm starting to think Roenicke may be one of those managers. Anyone know what Billy Heywood is up to?
  3. I know he was dominating but he should have been pulled after the first 3 (if not 2) hitters reached base this inning. He was hit hard last inning and the first couple this inning.
  4. According to baseballreference, Don Sutton is the most similar pitcher to Maddux. Marcum's most similar is actually Yo. I'm assuming these are stat-based and not style.
  5. The guys on MLB Network just said Yuni didn't need to flip it with the glove so it wasn't that great.
  6. Thought I'd bump this with the series starting today. Me and some buddies decided to make the trip so we're leaving tonight and will go to the game tomorrow and possibly Sunday. We have a friend who lives like a block from the stadium but we're still planning on bringing out the car to tailgate tomorrow. There's a lot right across the street from I believe the left-center field entrance. I think it's on the corner of Clark and Broadway. That's where we tailgated last time and plan to do the same tomorrow so if anyone is looking for somewhere to tailgate, that's a nice spot.
  7. I think Roenicke has been an awful manager so far and I wasn't a fan of his hiring. However, blaming him for a broken finger is just stupid. This is like blaming the 3rd base coach for Josh Hamilton getting hurt. Hamilton should have known to not slide first and Morgan should know how to bunt without his fingers getting in the way. Sure other people made decisions to put the two in a position to get hurt but ultimately it's up to the player to protect himself. I don't agree with the decision to bunt there but in no way is this Roenicke's fault. That being said, he's still awful.
  8. I agree with Gamel but not with Hart. Like I've said in previous posts, I just don't see him coming close to last year's numbers. He's probably closer to his late 08/09 numbers, maybe slightly better. I don't like his plate discipline whatsoever.
  9. Yes, last night wasn't the norm in that there will most likely not be 2-3 errors every game. However, there have been multiple terrible throws/decisions that have led to runs that don't show up as errors. I have more of a problem with these mental mistakes and they seem to happen a few times a week. I'll agree that there probably isn't much that can be done at this point, other than possibly get a new SS by the deadline. I think guys (mainly Casey and Prince) need to make better decisions out there.
  10. I understand that we have him for a few more years, which is nice, but he will be 31 in July. I don't think there's much potential left in people over the age of 30. He is what he is, which is a guy who can play good defense, get on base, and use his speed, but basically only against RHP like you said. He's definitely useful but I don't know if I would say "impact" and I definitely wouldn't say he has a lot more potential left.
  11. Like I said, I was never a big Corey Hart fan to begin with. I know this is basically his second week of Spring Training. Some guys need more time than others to get it going. But I don't see him replicating what he did last year and think he will probably be closer to his late '08-'09 form. I'm predicting around .265/.310/.450 with maybe 15-20 HR.
  12. I've never been a Hart fan so I think last year may just be a fluke. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am. I know he's only been playing for a few weeks combined but he's still swinging at that low and away pitch.
  13. I have a feeling Casey will only hit about 15 and Corey about 20 already this year. I think it has more to do with our actual hitters than it does the coach. Gomez is stubborn so his approach probably won't change. Yuni is Latino is approach won't change (according to him). Corey has always swung at low outside sliders so I doubt that will change. I'm sure Sveum hasn't told them to swing for the fence every time, it's just how their makeup is.
  14. Like someone said, I think the lyrics are way too thought out to be a joke. Sadly, I think this was meant to be serious.
  15. That was just stupid. They should've just filmed all of their sweet Brewers stuff with nothing else.
  16. Yeah my bad. We still have Gomez who is better on defense than Cain. And we had to give up both to get Greinke which is fine by me, although one can argue that Escobar wasn't actually above average defensively last year. I would basically like to see Casey and Corey replaced for better D, definitely Casey. I'd replace Corey because I've always thought he was overrated. Hopefully Gamel is a great defensive first baseman next year.
  17. I know but I would think that we could have a decent defense at some point in my lifetime. I seriously cannot remember the last time we had an above average defensive team. Gotta have good defensive players to have a good defense. When Gomez is in the lineup, he's the only plus defender among the other guys out there. That's what I mean. Why don't we start getting a few guys that play great defense but only average or even a little below average defense. Or even guys with average defense and average offense. I'm sick of the below average defense, average offense that we think is great offense guys.
  18. Sure, it's not hard for those on the top half. The bottom half would disagree with you though. I know but I would think that we could have a decent defense at some point in my lifetime. I seriously cannot remember the last time we had an above average defensive team.
  19. Pathetic defense. Seriously, how hard is it to play average defense? The term average should indicate it's not that hard.
  20. We also have a lot of our players locked up long-term. Basically next year we will be losing Prince but replacing him with Gamel. We'll still have pieces for next year and I'm guessing one of Marcum/Greinke will also be extended beyond next year. I might agree that right now there's a 2 year window (without an extension to Greinke/Marcum) but I wouldn't consider this season a disappointment if we don't win the World Series.
