  1. It'd be nice to get that 2B eligibility for fantasy from Pujols. Only 14 more games to go.
  2. Gagne will now get 6 outs this inning.
  3. Yeah I agree this isn't on Gagne. Izturis should've been struck out and then Gagne got his groudball for the double play but Rickie screws it up. And now it sucks cuz everyone will blame this on Gagne. He'll end up getting 5 outs this inning.
  4. I'd maybe look into someone doing a sidejob. I worked for Schranz Roofing on and off for 5 years and we did mostly commercial roofing but a lot of the guys there do sidejobs and do them pretty well. Where do you live, I could get you my buddy's number who still works there and does sidejobs if you are looking to go that route. He usually likes the extra cash that a sidejob brings in so he might be interested.
  5. I'm going to Cincy for the game's Saturday and Sunday and if Kyle Lohse is dominating, I have a feeling I'm going to witness history with back to back perfect games by Cueto and Harang.
  6. I agree with the "sloppy fat" comment although I don't know if I would call it that. Last year, though he was big, looked a lot harder. This year he looks a lot softer and pudgier. Maybe it's the loose uniform or whatever but his body type seems to have changed from looking at it (at least on tv). And I don't think anyone is seriously saying that Prince's diet is the main reason why he isn't hitting, just that maybe it's a factor. And it probably is. Whenever something changes, it will always have some kind of an effect on everything, be it small, large, positive, or negative.
  7. I agree that Prince's body looks a lot different this year, like he got bigger but not in a good way. I know we had a thread about his diet already but I didn't know where else to put this, as I didn't want to start another thread. I've heard from someone who works in the clubhouse that since Prince isn't eating meat, he eats big salads. Except he just drenches them in ranch dressing and piles on a ton of cheese. That just doesn't seem healthy to me and could be a cause of some of his (body) problems.
  8. Idiocracy is one of the funniest movies of the past 10 years. I can't believe I didn't think of Braundo sooner.
  9. A few years ago (the '05 season I believe) I came up with a bunch of nickname's for players from around the league. My roommates would randomly pick out a player and I would throw out some random nickname and then we would attach the two and sometimes I'd come up with some backwards logic for why that nickname would work. Some examples: Bobby Abreu: TJ (mistakenly thought my roommates were talking about Miguel Tejada at the time and thought TJ would be good for him) Ben Sheets: The French Onion (from Louisiana, Cajun to French and onion cuz he made the hitters cry when he struck them out...although now maybe he cries cuz he has gotten hurt so often) Albert Pujols: Superman's Illegitimate Love Child (just a freak of nature of a player, could only have been spawn of Superman) Scott Rolen: The Spanish Cobra (no idea) Lance Berkman: Whenever Wherever (again no idea) Turnbow: Control Alt Delete (because he was a shutdown closer: was originally applied to Mike Adams when we thought he was going to be the closer) Craig Wilson: Hidden Valley Ranch (no idea) Pedro Martinez: Mr. Pink Fairy Tutu Scott Kazmir: The Kazmir Sweater (like cashmere) There were a lot more but I can't remember them. Then we started to assign nicknames based on people's nationalities. Examples: Carlos Zambrano: The Venezuelan Vampire Trent Durrington: The Thunder from Down Under
  10. I don't know, I was thinking more along the lines of when they really believe that both guys committed a murder, DEF2 pled out but DEF1 got off on self-defense. In that case, I would think that they wouldn't just want DEF2 to get out just because DEF1 got self-defense.
  11. Yeah I usually don't say anything to people, I just like to listen how dumb some of their opinions really are. Not even on sports related things, just conversation in general. When I went to the Admirals game a few months ago when the Goo Goo Dolls had their concert beforehand I heard a guy next to me say "This is Black Balloon, my favorite song of theirs" about 30 seconds into the song. Well it wasn't Black Balloon and it didn't sound anything like it. I just laughed.
  12. If DEF2 has already accepted a plea and DEF1 gets off on self-defense, then DEF2 will likely be stuck with his plea deal since he agreed to it. Once he is eligible for parole (if he is), the parole board will probably take that into consideration and release him. I suppose there may be other ways to get out (a pardon perhaps) but I would think that because he accepted a deal, it will stick. The police and some members of the public may still think that the original crime was murder and not self-defense and not want to see DEF2 get out just because a jury found that it was self-defense in DEF1's trial. So they (police, prosecutors, etc.) will do whatever they can to make sure DEF2 stays for the duration of his plea deal.
  13. And also I'm sure a lot of people know the Miranda rights (i.e. the actual words) but they don't necessarily know what they mean. And I would have to agree that a lot of people think the police are "the good guys" and most of the time they are but when they believe they have the right person under arrest, they will do whatever they can to make sure they are convicted, which includes trying to get a confession and not providing a lawyer unless explicitly asked for one.
  14. I guess I should have clarified a bit. I understand the point of felony murder, I should have just said I don't like it. Part of the reason is because it doesn't really matter who dies, as long as someone does. For instance, two guys could go into someone's house with the intent of burglary. They bring with them two unloaded guns, with the intent to just scare the owners if they are home. They enter the house and the owners are indeed home and one of them keeps a loaded gun for protection. The owner sees the men enter with the guns and shoots one of them, claiming self-defense. That man dies and his accomplice is charged with felony murder. There is no doubt that the guy is guilty of attempted burglary but I don't believe he should get an extra 15 years just because his partner died in the commission of the crime. After all, they had no intent to kill anyone, as their guns were not loaded.
  15. Yeah I'm not sure if they have a felony murder staute or not. I've never really understood the point of it since if it's murder, it's murder. I know Dickey's not a fan of it either cuz it just doesn't seem necessary.
  16. I'm pretty sure Mila Kunis is still dating Macauley Culkin.
  17. I just took Crim Law I last semester and remember going over this stuff. I even believe we read a case that involved an accomplice taking a plea and getting more time than the actual person who committed the crime. Or that could've just been a hypo but I'm not sure. It's definitely plausible. Even though DEF1 said he wanted to kill the guy doesn't necessarily mean he was going to, after all, DEF2 said he didn't believe he was going to go through with it. So if the jury decides that the VIC pulled the gun out first and that DEF1 was merely protecting himself, then DEF1 would get off and DEF2 would be stuck. I think it's a lot more realistic of a possibility than people think. However, if DEF2 were smart and saw that it was self-defense (or could've been interpreted as through the courts), then he wouldn't have taken the plea.
  18. Exactly, I'm not saying that his diet is the only thing causing his swing, power, etc. to be off so far this year. I just think it's a factor to consider.
  19. Say what you want, you're not going to change my mind. I like animals, hell I got my bachelor's degree in zoology. But they are delicious as well. I'm sure you guys that are vegans/vegetarians/whatever have been so for awhile. The point is, Prince is new to it and his body probably isn't adjusted to it. Like someone said earlier, he's eaten meat for 23 years of his life and it's going to take awhile to get used to. I (and I'm sure a lot of others) think it was a mistake to stop. And the thing is, people aren't just saying this now. I know I was saying I was worried if it would affect his power right after he announced that he stopped eating meat. Sure it's not just about power and his swing isn't great right now but I think it's a factor to consider, just with how his body is adjusting to the lack of meat. Just something to consider.
  20. My whole family likes it but I can't get over the fact that its raw meat.
  21. It's all about the protein. People may say that you can still get protein from other sources like vitamins and supplements and such but natural protein is best. And nothing's more natural that meat. Maybe the Brewers should offer Prince a big contract but only if he agrees to eat a big steak a couple hours before every game. Or they should make him visit the Big Texan and take on the 72 oz. challenge.
  22. It seems like eveyone is really popping out to the infield a lot this year.
  23. I don't think we can start dumping on Gagne yet. I think the weather played a huge factor in his first game and he picked up the save Saturday. The HR wasn't that far and he did strike out 2. He just made a bad pitch. Hopefully he can turn it around.
  24. I don't get the game in Madison. How far was that HR?
  25. I don't think it is possible. Even if it is, I believe you have to download special software on your computer and it would be difficult to pass that around.
