  1. Yost uses so many lineups because he thinks all you need to do is try one for a game or two and see if it works. You'd think he would know better.
  2. I just don't understand why the average baseball fan and even many professional managers can't understand how utterly worthless the results of a few dozen ABs are in projecting the future. Over and over again it's proven wrong over the course of a season, yet most don't even notice. I've seen the some posters change their usually extreme opinions of a player from good to bad to good again, all in the same year! For those most guilty of this, do you even notice that you are doing it?
  3. thats my point russ, there is no good dh option against a lefty. So you compound that by putting Gwynn in the leadoff spot? My honest guess is that he is going to go with Graffanino as a DH, which is not a good option. If Yost is going to play Counsell and Graffy, he would DH Braun and play Counsell at 3B and Graffy at 2B. Agreed. Playing on the road against a good team is an uphill battle no matter what but the match ups for the next two games are pretty good.
  4. doubt it though. I am sure Gross will be DH again. He will play the percentages again, which means no TGJ atleast. Against a lefty? I doubt it. And if Gwynn is leading off against a lefty, I will give myself shaking baby syndrome. The fact is, the Brewers don't have a single good option for a DH against a lefty. His best option is to probably just take the defensive upgrade at CF or 3B. Sad but true.
  5. The Crew can have two teams tied for second, get no hit and STILL not lose ground in the standings. Team of destiny, I tell ya!
  6. The Crew is averaging 11 hits a game in each of their last two games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  7. Best days of your life. Also the most important. Too many guys screw around their freshman year and flunk out of college. Don't be that guy,
  8. When Melvin doesn't like how Yost is using his players, I believe that he tells him. It's what we saw when Yost's boy, Helms sat in favor of Melvin. I don't think a change in management would be made until the off season.
  9. I'll tell you what, if the Brewers get no hit tomorrow, then I'll really start getting mad. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif This sucks but I'm not going to dwell on it and neither will the Brewers. Less than 24 hours before they go at it again.
  10. We will never, EVER have to see this lineup again.
  11. You know what, this is just 1 loss in a game the Brewers had little chance of winning anyway. I'd obviously prefer the Brewers NOT get no hit but I'm not going to dwell on it if it happens. It does not foreshadow horrible things to come. It does not prove that the Brewers are not a playoff team. It proves that for one game, the Brewers were completely dominated by a very good pitcher. (Now, please get a hit, Brewers)
  12. That gun has to be way off. Verlander has a nice fastball but 99 in the 7th?
  13. The crazy thing is, if i want someone to break up a no hitter, Estrada might be my guy.
  14. Of course it's both. But the Brewers as a team definitely have contributed to Verlander's success tonight. So, the offense would be merely bad and Verlander "pretty good"? You can't have both extremes.
  15. We will never, EVER see Counsell and Graffy batting 1 and 2 in the lineup again!
  16. You'd have to think if the Brewers get no hit tonight, we'll never see this lineup again. I'm really, really hoping for a no hitter. Silver lining. I like it! How come when a pitcher gets a no hitter, the fans of the pitcher just talk about how great their guy pitched but the opposing fans just gripe about how terrible their team's. It can't be both, right?
  17. "The Lady or the Tiger?" What did Bill Murray whisper in Scarlett Johannsen's ear at the end of LOST IN TRANSLATION? I don't remember the movie that well but did it really matter exactly what he said? It seemed that the audience was allowed to tidy up the story any way they wanted to (and satisfy whatever emotional needs you might have had). I don't recall the actual plot dangling, though.
  18. Yost is just obsessed with riding the hot hand. I'd rather maximize the number of ABs the good hitters get but what do I know.
  19. Even I, a relative optimist, am tempted to shudder when I see those splits vs. Suppan. The majority of those ABs are from like 5+ years ago, aren't they? I think people assume the Brewers should beat bad teams with a bad starting pitcher 90% of the time and lose to good teams 10% of the time. The true odds are generally much more tighter. Looks like the line is about +155, which means Vegas thinks the Brewers have about a 1 in 3 chance of winning. Not great odds but certainly not hopeless.
  20. I'm really excited about the Tigers series. I calculated something like a 40% chance of winning each game but with Sheets pitching and Bonderman not pitching, I think the chances are better than that. It would be nice to take two of three and lift the spirits of Brewerfan.net nation.
  21. I'd rather get a righty corner outfielder and send Gwynn down (provided Gross can back Hall up in CF).
