  1. Right, after learning about how the cows were treated and killed. I don't think he woke up one morning and said, "I can't stand the taste of meat, I will now become a vegetarian". His wife read some books about how cows were treated and that's what lead to the whole thing, if I remember right.
  2. A realization that just hit me is this. Is Prince playing with a leather glove? Didn't some innocent, sacred (in India) cow give up its life for Prince to have a glove? And yet, because of the cruel treatment of cows worldwide for food, Prince has given up eating meat. So, the cow that made his glove said, hey, you know what, I want to be a glove for Prince Fielder, so yeah, kill me. Or did they take a cow that died of old age to make Prince's glove? Seems a bit hypocritical to me. Go ahead, Prince. Have that steak.
  3. I'm confused by the last one. I can see how in your first year, sure you're going to make mistakes. But to have the same mistakes, and/or different mistakes 5 years down the road, is that truly getting better with experience? That's either stubbornness, stupidity or insanity. None of them are major qualities I want in the manager of my baseball team. Well, I do want SOME stubbornness, but if change is needed, it has to happen.
  4. I say what I think.
  5. Technically speaking, the synthesizer was a new instrument in the past 100 years....along with the electric guitar, even though the acoustic guitar has been around for many years. One of the interesting things I saw in studying music theory in college was that up until about the turn of the 20th century, there were typical forms and styles to follow, and then in the 20th century, there were many attempts to break the rules and create music (if that's what you want to call some of it) that either stretched, broke, or created new rules. It's hard to compare Schonberg to Bach, but they're both music.
  6. At least they're not on a plane
  7. There has been 10 days of 90+ weather in San Antonio.
  8. If Ned really wanted to shake things up, I'd like to see him pull a lineup out of a hat. Put everyone's name in a hat, and draw names. Just for one game. That DEFINITELY would shake things up.
  9. I'm laughing so hard at these. The "I Wish", "Good Day" and the Rick Astley ones are awesome!
  10. He's missing his gigantic cup of coffee
  11. Has he passed his physical? I'm still holding out hope he doesn't.
  12. Fielder didn't take off right out of the box, and he was easily out at 2nd. It really wasn't close at all. He flat out didn't hustle from the get-go.
  13. I don't know if he was going after Yost with that, but it sure means somethings up and could be an interesting next few days. He may have asked for a trade. Who knows.
  14. When it all comes down to it, you play half your games at home, half on the road. It doesn't matter that the majority so far have been on the road. That's how it breaks down.
  15. Plain and simple, you're paid big bucks to hit the ball, and field the ball. If you struggle to hit the ball or field the ball, they're not going to pay you the big bucks to be a nice guy. You will sit. It seemed like lately he was starting to come around, but he struggles to hit for average against righties, but has more homers and RBI against them. My biggest concern has been his defense this year. He's seemed a bit off to me.
  16. Actually, I thought Bill made some sense in the rambling. You don't set up your lineup to avoid a possibility of something. I would think there is a reason why the pitcher hits 9th in almost every other NL lineup in baseball. But yet, somehow, Yost goes against that to avoid Kendall hitting into double plays? I don't get it.
  17. I've done more grilling in the 5 months since moving to Texas than I did in my 3 years of living in Wisconsin....and I did a good amount of grilling in Wisconsin.
  18. Yeah, but look at the dude. The way he dresses and looks says this guy isn't normal.
  19. That's why living in a state where you don't have a gigantic temperature swing like that is nice. Granted, you would have had to have put up with 90+ for almost 2 weeks straight, but it's the cross that I will bear.
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3411961 Anyone NOT surprised at this one?
  21. I just do not understand Yost's management (or lack thereof) of the bullpen. Granted, there's not a lot to work with, but if a guy pitched 2 innings the game before, and he's not usually a 2 inning guy (Mota), why bring him out for 2 innings the next day? The whole Gagne thing I don't get either. He's taken out of the closers role, comes in for mop-up duty, pitches 2 so-so innings and all of a sudden, he's back to being the closer again? That's one of the main things that has been killing this team so far this season.
  22. Sadly, no trade....but that lessens the chances of Gange getting in the game for the next few and screwing things up.
  23. i guess if you look at it that way then Gagne would be movie theater popcorn: overpriced and it's never there for you at the end of the show when you really need it. and Yost would be the McRib: it's not very good but somehow seems to come back every single year. I laughed SO MUCH at both of those. Awesome stuff! And extremely spot on!
