  1. I'm interested to see what JJ does in the 2nd spot today. Gwynn 7th is an interesting one.....but that's why they play the game.
  2. What was the injury? Can Gagne come down with one, too? Can Mota?
  3. OK, the more I've been thinking about this, and letting it all settle in, the giddier I'm becoming. Let me explain. First, this, to me, marks a turning point for the Brewers as an organization. They've been developing good young players for the last 5 years, and now we're able to keep them. This says to the current guys (and the younger ones coming up), if you put in the work, this organization WILL pay you what you're worth. The equation that comes into my head is when the Packers signed Reggie. They were a doormat for years and years (as the Brewers have been) and bit by bit, they started building back to being credible. The signing of Reggie was the biggest signature of that turning point. To me, Braun is a guy who has natural ability and a desire to be the best, and he's a guy you want to have on your team. The state of Wisconsin will get behind him and he will be the leader of this team for the next 8 years. Awesome move Mark A. and DM and the Brewers organization!!! Sign up Corey next, and whoever else is on the radar!
  4. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ryan Braun is quickly becoming the star of this team, and they are paying him as such. My question is, what does this do to Prince? My hope is it motivates him as he will soon be paid far less than Braun. After his public complaining about money at the start of the year, he came across to me as one who has talent, but wants his money. I love the fact that Mark A is willing to put the money in to make this team a winner....love it!
  5. It works.....we'll see what the results are tonight.
  6. A few notes for the Brewer players (if they read this) Rickie: Do NOT keep the bat on your shoulder if a pitch is close and you have 2 strikes. You HAVE to get on base for this team to succeed....DO IT!! Ryan Braun (AKA God): Do what you do. You are a beast and are crushing the ball. Prince: The plate approach is getting better. Keep it up! Bill Hall, JJ: Loving the approach of driving the ball to the opposite field. If you keep that up the reason of the season, we're going to go far. Mr. Grit (JK): Call a great game for Manny. Manny: Make your pitches where the grit man calls them. Ned: GAGNE IS NOT AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All these things will lead to Brewer victory.
  7. Steroids...that's the adjustment.
  8. A good long time. And you know the Justice Department isn't going to file a case this high profile unless it's pretty well rock solid. Bye-bye Barry. If Bonds is in prison, would he still be eligible for the HOF?
  9. We have excess offense?
  10. But leaving Gagne at home while the team travels to Boston would be fantastic for site traffic here on BF.net. Could be fun to watch.
  11. Actually, Inman and Garrison are with San Diego's AA team.
  12. Maybe Canadian time is faster than American time? Could it be that in Gagne's mind, he said the stuff about not closing about 2 weeks ago, and now it's fixed. Just a thought.
  13. I think Tim Floyd was following the Kelvin Sampson rules of coaching. Violate rules, get fired, and then get a cushy NBA assistant coaching gig.
  14. It's better than what he was doing during the 9th inning today....getting paid to sit on the bench and toss a baseball in the air and catch it. They cut to him a few times during the 9th and he looked bored. Why not?
  15. Oh! I thought this thread was going to be about what current Brewers will still be on the roster when they roll into Fenway.....my bad.
  16. What does that entail?
  17. I would be stunned if there aren't a good amount tomorrow.
  18. From the JSOnline article: "You guys know me. I take a long time to analyze things. I give everybody the benefit of the doubt and try to make the decision that's best for everybody. I don't make rash, quick, off-the-handle decisions." What about making decisions that WIN BALLGAMES Ned? Sometimes the benefit of the doubt doesn't work and you have to play the "what have you done for me lately" game.
  19. I think not temporarily moving him out of the leadoff spot, to shake things up a bit, is more of a concern. He's supposed to be the catalyst, and when he's struggling, that puts more pressure on the rest of the guys to hit.
  20. So who next do we pay $10 million to close ballgames for us? And what do we do with the $10 million guy who can't?
  21. Funny (but sad for the horse) story on that one....apparently back when I was in HS, the middle school principal was driving about 120 on a country road, and a horse had got out in the road. The horse was decapitated, and I guess the principal was OK. I was in HS with his kid, and I was talking about it, because I saw the horse covered with a blanket on the side of the road and he said his dad did it.
