  1. Well, here's my thing. How long ago did Peralta sign? And it's taken THIS long? Really? Or is it just because there wasn't much else out there today?
  2. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10326684/matt-holliday-st-louis-cardinals-ok-jhonny-peralta-teammate That's classy. And it's even more classier that it's a story on ESPN. Must be a reallllllllllly slow news day.
  3. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I don't mind it. It increases the likelihood that Yuni will NOT be at 1st base in 2014. That's the thing to stop from happening.
  4. 1. Not have Yuni play first 2. Not have Yuni play second 3. Not have Yuni play short 4. Not have Yuni play third 5. Not have Yuni on the roster Serious one, though 1. Braun return to MVP status 2. Find a passable first baseman 3. No crazy bullpen implosions 4. Play average to above average defense 5. What will Weeks and Davis do
  5. I put the game on the radio, heard the score, and laughed. I think it was 78-49 or something like that. Then I heard it was mid 3rd quarter. I laughed some more, knew the Spurs had it in the bag, and waited to hear the details today. Needless to say, I'm not surprised the Spurs won and won big. I just didn't realize the Bucks were that bad. So glad I gave up on them years ago.
  6. So, who does DM give up for Ike? Because, really, that's who is going to be at first, right?
  7. This is true. But a precedent has been set. Under LaRussa's watch, Big Mac and Canseco juiced. Either LaRussa was clueless, which says a lot about his leadership....or lack thereof, or he knew it was going on. It's one or the other.
  8. Well, at least we'll know soon if it's LoMo or a combo of Hart/Francisco/Yuni/Hunter/someone else?
  9. So with LaRussa getting in, does this mean that the doors are now open for Bonds, ARoid, Clemens and Big Mac to get into the HOF?
  10. Putting it that way, I think it's between Morrison & Hart. I want nothing to do with Ike Davis. Reading a Marlins blog (linked from mlbtraderumors.com) by Joe Frisaro, apparently the Marlins previously have coveted Juan Francisco. Both Morrison & JF are projected to earn between $1.5M & $1.8M in their first arby-eligible year. Can we just swap those guys for each other right away & call it good? I'm not sure I'm enamored of Morrison, but I like him a whole lot better than JF -- especially given the occasional appraisal out there suggesting he could be a 3B backup or fill-in option -- Yikes!!! (I'm also not sure why "of" is the proper preposition to follow "enamored," but apparently it is. That always sounds weird.) Get LoMo and get rid of Francisco in one move? YES PLEASE!!
  11. With the Marlins close to signing Garrett Jones, DM better be on the phone for Morrison. I think he's a much better option than Hart, being younger, hitting lefty and hopefully being healthier. Hart is going to cost a lot more than what the Brewers need to spend, I believe.
  12. Crazy. The money thrown around is unbelievable.
  13. I've never smoked a day in my life. So why am I posting here? To encourage you. We all have our vices. Smoking has wreaked havoc in my family. My dad had a major heart attack 4 years ago. Smoked pretty much constantly. After he left the hospital, he has never once had a cigarette in the 4 years since. I've asked him if he ever had cravings, he said no. Now, he's stubborn and probably is stubborning himself into it. My older brother was not so lucky. After my dad's heart attack, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. At age 45. He lost his fight last September. My sisters have smoked, yet my younger sister quit before she got pregnant with my nephew. I've never smoked. Why? I heard my dad's horrible cough. I never wanted to do something like that that led to that awful of a cough and wheezing. So, I commend all of you for trying to find ways to quit. Keep after it!
  14. Hart listed at 6'6, 235, Jaha listed at 6'1, 195. I don't know about similarities there.
  15. I was 8 the one and only time I went in the arch. I thought it was pretty lame. Get in a small little capsule, go up and look through little windows at either a dirty river, East St. Louis or downtown St. Louis, which is alright. Booooooring.
  16. Hide. Whatever you do, don't drink the beer.....or water, because it's basically the beer. It's awful.
  17. Which has won them more championships that most other clubs in their short existence. You can't argue with results. I didn't say it was a bad thing. In fact, if it works for them, as it has, good for them.
  18. I saw that in the article. But it looks like it's back to the post fire sale, let's sign a whole bunch of guys, win a championship, blow it up and start all over again mentality.
  19. Ellsbury, ARoid, McCann, maybe Cano......that's a lot of money sunk into players. But it's the Yankees. Who cares if they actually win.
  20. The Marlins are spending money?
  21. Based on the Peralta signing, my guess would be St. Louis.
  22. Oh... duh. How quickly I forget. Actually, Gamel was non-tendered by the Cubs today. So he's available.
  23. End of thread. Someone send this to ESPN and every baseball writer. Thanks.
  24. Here's the way I'm looking at it. If the Cardinals choose to overlook Jhonny Peralta and his PED use, then so can I. Because, if it's good enough for the Cardinals, it's good enough for me. They're the classiest team in baseball.
