    It does make for curious timing as to why Carpenter announced his retirement a couple of days ago.....

    I love this. He has been pretty much average, he's 31, and now has a 4 year contract. Don't forget that he was suspended 50 games for PED usage.....so there's always that issue of how Carpenter is going to explain it to his son. I get that Kozma was bad, but I don't see him being that much better. Just my gut.

    It's interesting to read my Cardinal friends' comments on FB about Freese. "He's maximized his potential. We don't need him anymore. Bourjos has a lot of potential." Time will tell.

    As long as none of those 5 teams are the Milwaukee Brewers, that's all that matters. He can go be mediocre for anyone else. Mediocre? You're giving him WAY too much credit. If I give him way too much credit and he's not in Milwaukee in 2014, I really don't care. I just want him gone. Yesterday.

    Torts touched on where my head goes. Sure, blow it up, but what are you getting in return? Braun's value is as low as it could be, as is Yo's. Weeks isn't going to get you much, neither is A-Ram or Lohse. So, you're somewhat stuck if you're the Brewers. Be mediocre, develop your guys, draft well, and hopefully in 3-4 years you'll get some of these guys in the pipeline and then things will happen.

    Anyone but Hart, Yuni and Francisco. I'd like to see Morris get a shot, but it seems the team doesn't see things from the same perspective as I do.

    Why is this? The Brewers have a chance? The Cards and Pirates are still in the playoffs, and the Reds made it in. Will the Brewers in 2014 be anywhere close to them? I highly doubt it. The Brewers are more like the Cubs than they are the other 3 teams. LOL OK 75-87 with your best player suspended and Yuni B and the awful cast of characters at first. Pitching was decent, but is it going to be better next year? Bullpen was marginally decent. A-Ram is older, if they resign Hart, he's no sure thing. And what could they trade to get better? I can't see much better than 75 wins again next year. Especially with Roenicke at the helm.

    Good Lord! If Hand and Halton sound halfway like Dillard makes them out to be, that's awesome. Dillard NEEDS to have a career in broadcast, standup, SOMETHING when he's done playing ball.

    I get that. Even if he used it once or 100 times, it doesn't matter. He was caught, fought it, denied using it and wasn't honest about it. How many people even remember about Andy Pettite and PEDs? Not many, I bet, because he owned up to it. If Braun owned up to it, I bet there wouldn't be as much other stuff being said. Still, going forward, it all depends on his play on the field.
