  1. My nearly 4 year old daughter can turn on tears at the drop of a hat for many reasons. I think the next time she cries, I will tell her, "Sweetheart, you're just like a really mediocre baseball pitcher who had too many boo-boos on his arm and a poor attitude." She might ask me what mediocre means, but she probably would be confused. Oh well.
  2. I laughed so hard at the thread title. I had read tweets about it this morning. It's funny. Gotta wonder exactly what Amaro is trying to do.
  3. Oh, I forgot one other important thing....pray that your child is a sound sleeper. I'll never forget the first Packer game I watched after my daughter was born. I'm not a quiet football watcher, the Packers score and I yell TOUCHDOWN!! And, of course......she started crying. Needless to say, the wife was far from happy with me. Learn to be quiet!!! It's why I'll usually either tweet or Facebook a bunch during the game....I can "scream" as much as I want!
  4. My child (20 months) has been going through a phase where 4:15 is a totally acceptable time for her to wake up for the day. This is not awesome. Yes, but someday, she will be 14. Need I say more? I am so far from looking forward to those days with my girls.
  5. As I told a friend, either he's the most naive person on the planet, and is the victim of an absolutely cruel joke, or he's a calculating, cold, heartless dude. Not quite sure where it falls in the spectrum.
  6. I've got a nearly 4 year old and 14 month old. Both girls. Having daughters, I've already had to have more than my share of playing Barbies, wearing tiaras, pink, and GLITTER! So there's that, if your baby is a girl. I'll add to the chorus of being there for momma. The childbearing/childbirth process is a whole lot. Plus, if she's nursing, that's a whole other story. For our first, our daughter didn't want to nurse, so I would take most of the overnight feedings. With our second, she only nursed, so I had to find other things to do to help and care for her. Take lots of pictures, enjoy, and it's an absolute blur. I look back and wonder how it happened that my first is already nearly 4! As your child grows, set boundaries and stick to them. That's been tough for us lately, as our oldest fights cleaning up, going to bed, anything. And of course, being a girl, plenty of tears are involved! But, in the long run, being mean and telling them no is NOT being mean. It's being a responsible parent. Enjoy it!!
  7. McGwire ahead of Mattingly? SERIOUSLY? That's a travesty.
  8. WHAT? Would he project well at 3rd? Would he even want to move there?
  9. Wow. That's really tough. My older brother had cancer, and finally lost his fight in September. He was 46. I remember the panic I had when my mom called me about 3 years ago when my dad had a major heart attack. My parents are older, and I know that someday they will pass, but the thought is becoming more and more real to me. I know there's never really any good answer to that question of "why", but for me, I turn to my faith. I know that's not a good topic to discuss here, so PM me, if you'd like me to share more.
  10. Carlos Villanueva is going to be scary amazing......or just scary.
  11. NOT SO BOLD PREDICTION: By May, he'll be the Cards starting Third baseman.
  12. Somebody was bound to do it. 5 years is a bit scary given his history, but when you've got money to burn, and his talent, if he stays focused and clean, could be worth....huge gamble, though.
  13. UW is making their way back! Maybe?
  14. Announcers just said yes.
  15. AT THIRD???? That's awesome!! May this one most important Christmas wish PLEASE come true. Not world peace, or happiness or stuff....just Yuni B to the Cubs. PLEASE??????????????????
  16. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/brewers-at-impasse-in-talks-with-dempster.html Looks like one pitcher is on the radar....but I'm liking that they don't want to give 3 years....but are talking trade for Holland or Dickey....they're definitely looking at pitching, which is where an upgrade could be made. Looking forward to something coming sometime...
  17. Here's a good article: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=12991
  18. I was just going to post this!!! Thankfully Sveum is OK, but could it be karma for taking the Cubs job?
  19. Is there Raul Mondesi Jr. Jr. stashed somewhere?
  20. I saw this: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/brewers-notes-grilli-sean-burnett-josh-hamilton.html I know it's still misplaced anger, but I don't really want the Brewers giving a penny to the chump who childishly threw baseballs into the dugout because he didn't want to be in Milwaukee. I don't care if he represented God. No way, no how.
  21. Another MLBtraderumors.com post http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/marlins-actively-shopping-yunel-escobar.html I know $11.5 million is a lot of money, but I think he's a better pitcher than his 2012 numbers.
  22. I thought for sure you were talking about the Tony Gwynn Jr. for Jody Gerut trade. Now why do you have to be bringing up stuff like that? I completely forgot about that.....now it's in my mind again. Thanks!!
  23. you talkin' 'bout cutter? Yeah, I guess I probably could have been a little more specific.
  24. I always loved hearing him say the word offense with the long O. Made me smile.
  25. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/orioles-mulling-trade-for-power-bat-unlikely-to-sign-hamilton.html I found this on MLBtraderumors.com. They're looking for a 1B with pop, have pitching to trade....that may not be a bad idea. Hart for a couple of pitchers? Thoughts?
