  1. I really don't see pigeon-holing a kid in A+ as a DH already... like Prince was nothing but a DH? Gamel can play for the Brewers, he can play in the NL, he'll most likely be fine a corner outfield spot or 1B if he's up when Braun is with the team. Since he plays 3rd, his arm is good enough to play either corner outfield spot. With Braun ahead of him, I've always figured he wasn't going to stick at 3rd, so I could honestly care less about his errors.
  2. The best thing to do would be to search to his name and you'll find tons of comments in the daily link reports about him.
  3. links schminks... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  4. On that note, flicking cigarette butts ticks me off period. Why is "our" responsibility to clean up someone else's mess? I used to live on the bottom floor of an apartment building and everyone who would walk up to the buzzer would flick their butts in landscaping for my apartment, used to drive me nuts. It ticks me off on the highway too, but littering in any capacity annoys me there. Having the median and ditches on the side of the highway so littered with garbage that it looks like a dump doesn't do much for me.
  5. I always just cut and paste the link, I don't do the fancy thing others do and give it a name. However there's an infinity sign like thing on the posting window, it's between horizontal rule and remove hyperlink... click that and it should be self explanatory. On the who posted last issue, I've been trying to figure that out all day. I had it yesterday, started messing with the fonts using the CTRL-scroll, nothing fancy.... when I got home from the coaches meeting last night the name of the last poster was gone. I didn't notice it till after I was messing with my avatar, but I don't see how messing the fonts or adding an avatar would mess that up. A Couple of Posts Up edit. 1. Here's how you do it, copy or the cut the url from the top of the web browser. 2. Type in what you want it to say in your post 3. Highlight what you just typed 4. Click the Insert Hyperlink Button 5. Paste the URL into the URL box 6. Click Close
  6. I like what Braun had to say... Hall seems to feel slighted by all the press the Cubs have been getting. Sheets and Jenkins... that's funny stuff.
  7. My guess would be that Yost called Estrada out on what he's been calling for pitches... I wonder if we'll ever know.
  8. What exactly would he do from the stands?
  9. Well Kremblas has a bit of a playboy image... not that it bothers me, but if I had to guess that's why he's where he is and not with the big league club. Mass linked an article in the coaching thread and I remember the writer mentioning "womanizing" off handedly a couple of times. I'll go look for it and dig out the quotes if I can find them. http://www.nashvillescene.com/Stories/Cover_Story/2007/06/21/A_Whole_New_Ball_Game/index.shtml It struck me as odd that it was even mentioned a couple of times, and left me wondering why it was even noteworthy. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the impression definately lingered with me. edit. The original link is still active, thanks Casey for pointing out how difficult it is to find a post in that thread.
  10. If Yost were to be replaced, my first 2 choices would be those listed above, but I'd go Girardi and then Kremblas.
  11. Landlines actually carry far more data... fiber optic cable carries a vast amount of data, more than any other medium, even the best wireless is stone age slow by comparison. As others noted, the towers can only handle so many phone conversations at a time, with big news like that, depending on your provider, I could easily see how the cell network for that provider would get overloaded.
  12. The 3 most likely pitchers to replace would be Suppan, Cappy, and Vargas. edit. Suppan's no trade clause makes that difficult.
  13. I've posted many times that I think this season is just the start of the ride. This team is young, they don't win on the road, and the starting pitching has been very up and down. They could win the division, but I highly doubt it, the Cubs and Brewers are two teams that are going completely different ways.
  14. Dillon also retired from Baseball, coached, then came back, then played in Japan. If Nelson turns out as well as Dillon he may very well get his shot, however as Greg and Pogo have noted, he's only 24, lots of time left for him to put it all back together. Also, I will say that Cruz, Dillon, and Nelson have nothing in common for their careers. Nelson was successful at a very young age and hasn't managed to reclaim the magic thus far, the other 2 guys were break outs later on... Maybe Brad was just a "flash in the pan" statistically, it's tough to say with any certainty as I don't personally know him, his work ethic, or dedication to his craft. I'll continue to root for and follow him, but even if he did sign back with the Crew, put up 1000ish OPS in AAA, where would he play with Brewers? They already have platoon left handed hitters for LF? He'd have to be very good for a couple of years ala Hart for me to consider him an everyday player.
  15. FTJ, Have you been reading the IGTs lately? It's just bickering back and forth... it's another vent thread, maybe worse... I've been as guilty as anyone else calling out certain poster's for trollish behavior. I fail to see how 20 comments in a row about Weeks being terrible is necessary or valuable. The idea didn't come from the mods, it came from the public of the message board. The simple fact that some people think they are bigger than the site and should do whatever they want is infuriating. For example, I hate hiaku night, pink IGT night, and so on... therefore I don't participate. I don't like it, but I know other people on the board like those sorts of things, but I don't whine about it and I certainly don't crap on what other people have going on. The lack of an IGT was just another gimic suggested by the membership for the IGT, and once again, people do their own thing instead of participating properly. I'm definately someone who goes their own way, but there's independence, and then there's this, which I would qualify as classless and selfish. I would ask, have you ever modded a forum or game of significant size? If you have, I find it hard to believe that there were times when you didn't find the job taxing and find the constant hassels sucking some of your enthusiam for what was going on. I came from an internet gaming background, after years of immaturity and selfishness and I was looking for a site with mature, intelligent conversation, and I just happened to get lucky and stumble across this site. The site growing is a good thing, but there are problems associated with it, and regardless what we think, it's still Brian's site to do with what he wishes. There was a vision of what Brewerfan should be, and I have no problem with the people who take the responsibility of maintaining the content, enforcing that vision. A vision BTW, which is clearly laid out for all to see.
  16. 1. Maybe, he's another reclimation project that's working out very well. 2. Probably, I wouldn't be surprised to Aquino either, if they could get some garbage innings and save the regular BP arms some.
  17. Re Dillon: He doesn't have any numbers for last year because he played 2006 in Japan, for the Giants I think? The team might be wrong, I found an article about him that I'm currently unable to locate, it was pretty informative. Again, I did my research on him in June, so my memory might be a little fuzzy.
  18. Give Yost his props, he got relievers up in a hurry, and while I thought he made the switch 2 pitches too late, it still worked out.
  19. Well to be fair to Joe, what does one start tell us? Unless of course he's 5-5 with 5 bombs...
  20. The problem with the IGT thread has been that it's troll heaven lately. I have no problem with no IGT, after being a regular reader of it for many years, I rarely read it anymore, it's more like a vent thread... or forecasting of impending doom thread. Thank god football starts next week and I'll be distracted for the playoff push.
