  1. I couldn't imagine any scenario under which Capuano wouldn't have been non-tendered. No way were the Brewers going to pay him $3 million. I'd really like to see him stay with the Brewers.
  2. At one point, the Yankees were the premier franchise in MLB. Now, they have to overpay to get free agents. I really enjoy that.
  3. Well said. My concern is that the Brewers are looking at a lot of one year contract players. (Moyer, Johnson & Smoltz) What about 2010? I really don't see any minor league pitchers that I would count on contributing in 2010. And if that is the case - why wouldn't we be looking for longer term solutions. (Unless the Brewers figure they can address starting pitching via trade after this season)
  4. Haudricourt, on Homer, indicated that he thought the Yankees would expect the Brewers to pay part of Hall's salary.
  5. Just curious if you have any links to back that up - I've never heard that. (Not trying to call you out, I would really just like to read something along those lines)
  6. I wonder how Sheets was in the clubhouse. His lackadaisical attitude towards hitting always bothered me. I don't mind you sucking - but at least care that you suck. Sheets might have taken that attitude in other avenues as well.
  7. I thought everyone hated 1250. I guess not. I like 540 a lot. The D-List in the morning is really good - though it was even better with Trenni as a co-host. Drew Olson knows his Brewers. Plus, having Haudricourt & Wilde on the D-List and Homer really helps.

  9. I figured Cap'n Lou was going to get taken. I am not sure how he plays defensively - but he certainly seemed like he could battle Rivera for the back-up spot in Spring Training. It is just to0 easy to stash a back-up catcher on your roster when you are a bad team. (Baltimore) I'd rather have Cap'n Lou than some has been as a back-up. At least Lou still has some upside. Good move for Baltimore.
  10. Millwood has been rumored on the market for a couple months already. Of course, Texas was also interested in Sheets. (My prediction in July) I never believed the Millwood rumors. I am dumbfounded why you would trade away one of your best pitchers - when you are desperately in need of pitching! Even the stupidity is bigger in Texas.
  11. I really wanted Josh Butler to be a prospect. He went from what, the 13th on the Rays, to not even the top 35 for the Brewers?
  12. I am growing weary of every topic including a new form of... So I decided we might as well have an off-season vent thread so everyone can complain together. I'm actually quite the opposite. I think signing CC at that kind of money would have been a huge mistake. I also think we were a playoff quality team last year BEFORE CC Sabathia came to town and WITH Yovani hurt. So Yovani replaces Ben. Add to that our biggest hole is closer?!? Is Salomon Torres really that irreplaceable! Vent away Brewerfan.net!
  13. Ty Wigginton is also available. IF we were to trade Bill Hall to the Yankees - Wigginton would make a decent 3B.
  14. I wonder how many times I've argued with a 13 year old on Brewerfan.net
  15. Big Unit wants to stay out West Randy Johnson wants to stay out West to reach his milestones. He'll be a Hall of Famer, but like a lot of starters in this market, he's waiting for the three top starters -- CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Derek Lowe -- to sign somewhere before finding his spot. The A's, Giants and Dodgers are believed to be possibilities for Johnson, who needs five wins for 300 and 211 strikeouts for 5,000. I could see the two Bay Area teams being a litlle more likely, as Dodgers manager Joe Torre couldn't have been all that impressed with the work Johnson did for him as a Yankee in 2005 and 2006. Heyman of SI.com Guess that puts us out of the Randy Johnson sweepstakes. I doubt money would be enough to sway him.
  16. I think at 2 years and 26 million Melvin needs to step in. Even if Ben doesn't want to pitch in Milwaukee, at least Doug can say we offered the same contract and Ben just wanted to pitch elsewhere.
  17. This one is much bigger - if
  18. Is CC good friends with Suppan?
  19. I hope the Cubs get Peavey and Bradley. It would be so exciting to see how they would still choke in the first round with that rotation and line-up!
  20. To be fair, I can't see CC doing that again either. (We really need to accept how otherworldly that really was) I think the point is that going forward, if Sheets is healthy - he will probably put up similar numbers to CC.
  21. Johnson to 2B. Weeks to the bench. Gamel moves to the OF. (Or sign Dunn) We would have 3 left handed bats in the line-up. Not ideal all around - but I can certainly see the temptation with Kelly Johnson.
  22. Seeing as the Braves were frustrated with Francoeur - I am not sure why they would want Corey Hart. Seems like the same roller coaster.
  23. I think all media outlets should start saying "Mark Attanasio" instead of "Milwaukee Brewers"... As in "Mark Attanasio is rumored to be offering 6 years and 120M" I just have a hard time believing that Doug Melvin is driving this train.
