  1. No - but you would think any potential suitors would want to run tests (MRI) on his elbow to see the extent of any damage. Do we even know if any teams have gotten that far? And if they did - did they see anything that scared them? (All moot I suppose, if we offer him arbitration on Monday - his elbow must be at least "ok")
  2. The silence on the Sheets' front is almost deafening. I really wonder about his elbow. If he never had that last elbow injury, he would be looking at 4 year 60 million contract offers. One injury might cost him almost 50 million dollars? I mean, if the injury was serious - wouldn't he have had surgery or something by now? (I assume no surgery means he will be ready by opening day)
  3. Yep - that is it Peavy. Thanks, I always got those two confused.
  4. Rarely hear Ben Sheet's name mentioned. Other than a push by buddy Roy Oswalt to make him an Astro, there doesn't appear to be much action on this high-risk (and sometimes high-reward) righthander. Sheets could wind up going back to Milwaukee, but even the Brewers, who have experienced all of his injury history, might be leery without protection in his contract. Boston Globe
  5. Isn't Hinske a clubhouse cancer? (Maybe I am thinking of someone else though)
  6. Have you checked out K-Rod's declining performance recently? (Most notably, the drop in velocity) I know he just set a record for most "saves", but if you are willing to accept that "saves" is a made up stat - there are plenty of red flags around K-Rod.
  7. That is why I support McClung as our closer. I really think he could be a good "Turnbow" for at least a year. McClung certainly seems to have that "closer" make-up and is approaching the rockstar/hero status in Milwaukee. (He gets a great round of applause - and has really embraced Milwaukee) Even if McClung fails, we will still have other options internally such as Riske or Villanueva. (Or even Pena or Aguilar should they pitch well in the minor league) That said, Fuentes at 3 years and 30 million seems like a much better deal that Cordero at 4 years and 44 million. I am starting to think that with the exception of CC and Tex, this is really going to be a buyers market all winter. (The Cubs might have really overpaid for Dempster)
  8. You could take them to see an embarrassing franchise get demolished on their home court in front of 5,000 fans... Oh, you already have the part planned. If you were really ambitious, heading to Green Bay for the afternoon is always pretty cool.
  9. In my opinion, when healthy - Sheets is as good as Sabathia. (Sabathia was just rediculous down the stretch this year and I think it foolish to expect him to repeat that performance) That said, signing Sheets at that price means he only has to he healthy 1/2 of the time to earn his contract. And the worst case scenario (only 3 years) is much easier to take than Sabathia. However, I think Sheets is done with Milwaukee.
  10. I could be wrong, but doesn't Powell actually work for WTMJ and Uecker works for the Brewers? I thought I read once that Powell wanted to keep his independence (and journalistic integrity) - so that he never became a Milwaukee Brewer employee.
  11. Start a list of how many $100 million dollar pitchers saved a franchise. My list of how many $100 million dollar pitchers ruined a franchise will be twice as long. Ignoring the ramifications of a $100 Million contract is naive. You may support signing him - however, you have to accept there is a cost/benefit factor.
  12. That is definitely debatable. I am not sure if I would be ecstatic or depressed if the Brewers sign CC for 5 years and $100 million.
  13. Thanks Ned Yost. Ellsbury burst onto the scene last year with a .903 OPS in 127 PA. This year he had a .729 OPS. And while he was sitting on the bench during the ALCS, Coco was putting up a 1.092 OPS. I completely stand by my statement. His value was higher after 2007 than after the 2008 season.
  14. Ellsbury had a down year. (.729 OPS) In 16 major league games this year Buchholz had a 6.75 ERA. (And while still young, he isn't that young. He is 24) Lowell is a salary dump - and would allow them to move Youk to 3B. I don't believe the Sox would do the trade. However, before the Coco trade - I thought Ellsbury might be available. (Coco had a better year) I am just obsessed with Ellsbury as he perfectly fits the Brewer's needs.
  15. This is the dumbest thread ever. Yet, for some reason - it is the most entertaining thread on the entire board.
  16. I think it is important to note... A number of Brewers players and coaches will also be available for photo sessions throughout the day. Players will be available in various 30-minute sessions beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 3:30 p.m. Fans are advised to bring their own cameras. Photos with players will be free. I think charging for the autograph is just trying to turn some of the professional autograph seekers (looking to turn a profit) away in favor of regular fans.
  17. If Rottino makes the club as a utility player, Skelton would be very easy to hide.
  18. Lowell, Bucholz and Ellsbury for Prince and Billy Hall. Unless Lowell comes with Ellsbury (who could play CF and lead off - while batting from the left side) - I'd pass.
  19. I've really only dealt witt billyhallfan. And he was great. Oh, and once with AJAY - he was fine as well.
  20. Nate, you really haven't provided any basis for your argument other than Gamel is short. Which, as And That pointed out, is incorrect. I would bet Gamel has at least 3 inches on Prince. (Are you really just going to take Gamel's MiLB listed height as fact?) Even without that, a good 1B needs to field balls cleanly and dig out bad throws. If you have some reason you think Gamel (or for that matter, anyone below a certain height) is unable to accomplish these task - I would love to hear it. Seeing as Gamel's biggest weakness to date has been related to his throwing, I am 100% confident he could play a better 1B tomorrow than Prince.
  21. Escobar has an 8 game hitting streak. He hit a HR yesterday. His average has climbed to .235.
  22. I was wondering when Fukudome would be brought up. Honestly, I think Fukudome had a very similar decline to Corey Hart last year. Sure, you can argue that the league "figured him out" - but the same can be said for Corey Hart. I would expect both of them to be able to make adjustments in the off season to come back better players. If Fukudome was on a different team - I would support pursuing him as a LH centerfielder. But I just can't imagine the Cub's eating enough (or any) salary for the Brewers.
  23. Are they offering the Ticket Treat yet? (Not that I am interested - because I want to keep my seats) But when I talked to my ticket rep about the seats next to me, he informed me that they were already sold so full season tickets wasn't an option. He also said that the Terrace Ticket Treat was sold out? I don't know what that means - did they limit how many they are/were offering?
  24. I've enjoyed following Mark as he has battled back from his injuries. He always seemed like a real bright kid. That said, there really isn't any reason to protect him. At this point, the chance of him ever contributing to a MLB team might be 10%. The chance of him contributing to an MLB team THIS year? Maybe 2%.
  25. Exactly Logan... Honestly, I'd rather have one year of Johnson for $7 million than 5 years of Sabathia for $100 million.
