  1. I am very intrigued by Johnson - although I really don't see why Milwaukee would be of interest to him. It sounds like he wants to pitch two more years - this year to reach 300 victories and next year to get to 5000 Ks. I wonder if he is looking for a two year commitment...
  2. Am I being ridiculous- or does signing Adam Dunn make a lot of sense? 1. He bats left handed. 2. His career OBP is .381 He is grossly under appreciated (and at times very frustrating to watch). He could very well sign for $10 - 12 million a year. In 2009 he could play some LF. Against tough RH pitching, you could move Braun to RF and start Dunn in LF. You could also play Hart in CF on occasion (Braun in RF) to get Dunn more playing time in LF. I think Dunn could at least start 3 times a week - in addition to backing up Prince. After this year, he could become a full-time LF with the Brewers trading Hart or moving Hart to CF. He could also play 1B in the event that Prince is traded during or after the season. He would play a pretty big role in 2009 - and likely a huge role in 2010. I can think of much worse ways to spend the money. (fixed code --1992)
  3. I really only see two feasiable options. 1. Branyan platoon with Hall at 3B 2. Hart gets traded and we find a LH OF. I am not at all keen on trading Hart with his value at an all time low. I don't think Weeks, JJ, Cameron, Braun, or Cameron are going to be moved. I don't see a really good LH 3B option that would produce better than a Hall/Branyan platoon - without costing a ton. I guess I would sign Branyan (I prefer him over Lamb) to platoon with Hall. Find a LH catcher to back up Kendall. (And give Kendall a few days off). And then keep Nelson as a 5th OF/PH. And maybe Gamel can stick at 3B and we have our solution by June!
  4. My biggest fear... That the first Milwaukee Brewers team in 26 years to make the playoff gets completely broken apart. I feel like we are in the midst of a huge rebuilding project right now - and dang it...I liked our old team!
  5. I've had all day to think about this....let me know if I am way off base... My laptop was plugged in and connected to the battery at the time of the problem. The battery did suck - but it also held a charge for at least 5 minutes. When the laptop went out - it went out just like someone turning off a TV. Completely off. No warning. Just zap - and gone. If it was the battery that was shot - the power supply would have kept the laptop running. If it was the power supply that was shot - the battery should/would have kicked and at least run the computer for 5 minutes. (And given a warning that it was about to shut down) Considering the nature of the shut down. (A quick zap) I think the motherboad just completely died on me. And I am obviously not buying a new motherboard for a $400 computer. Anyone have any other ideas that might help me to test my hypothesis?
  6. I hope Kapler is a sure thing - but I have doubts. How many playoff bound teams wouldn't like a great bench/4th OF who is fantastic in the clubhouse and could turn into a coach in the future? Kapler should be sought by several teams.
  7. I'm thinking it must be a bad power supply in my laptop. I've replaced power supplies on desktops - anyone have any idea how hard of a fix this is on a laptop? And where would be a good cheap fast way to purchase the right power supply?
  8. I have an really cheap Acer Aspire 3680 that I purchased from Best Buy two years ago for $400 bucks or so. The battery really started dying on me in the past few months. At first it would run for around 2 hours - then only an hour - then half an hour. In the past 2 months, it has become a desktop computer. It will literally last 5 minutes unplugged before it dies. Well, until last night. It died. While plugged in. The laptop has absolutely no power - even plugged in. I can't get a light to flick on, a fan to run or anything. It has no power! I'd happily go buy a battery if that is the problem. But if the battery was the problem...wouldn't it still run while plugged it? (I really appreciate any help. I keep all of my financial information, taxes, MP3s and other files on that computer. Even if I can't get it powered up - I need to get those files off somehow.)
  9. The only proposal that made any sense to me involved Fielder to Boston for Bucholz and Ellsbury. (We would solve our CF, Lead-off, and pitching problems) Although I would imagine some soft of Lowell and maybe Bill Hall or Suppan would need to be included in that deal.
  10. It really seems as the entire article is about the Royals' desire to lock Greinke up long term.
  11. You fellas have moved very far off topic.
  12. Weren't their rumors at the end of the season of the rest of the team hating Ichiro. If I recall correctly, I think some in the Seattle brass feared for his safety! Seattle would have to pick up 7 million a year for me to consider taking Ichiro for free.
  13. How much do they cost on iTunes and what is the quality? Are they available in HD at all?
  14. Remember before the season when Lincecum was almost traded for Alex Rios? (Supposedly) I would imagine the Giants are feeling pretty good about that decision today.
  15. I am really shocked by this news. Very disappointing - I really enjoyed watching Salomon pitch. I have to imagine the Brewers were going to pick up his option. (Can you find any other relief pitchers who can go several innings and have closer experience for that price on a one year deal!?!) With that in mind, I am surprised Salomon passed up the money. I wonder if he has concerns about the new coaching staff.
  16. Thanks Colby - I looked through a few box scores as saw at least one day in CF. It is hard to fathom why the Brewers haven't gotten Cain (And Brantley) more playing time in CF to develop. They both have (had) the highest ceilings at CF, but I suppose some other plays had no ceiling if not at centerfield. (Such as Ford)
  17. How much CF has Cain played in the AFL? Does he have the defensive prowess to stick at CF...
  18. Trevor Hoffman done in SD as Padres pull offer... Had been offering 4M with incentives. Hoffman would be a decent 1-2 year option.
  19. I am sure he will get his at bats in. My point is that if he might end up playing a different position (2B or 3B) in the future - he would be better served playing 2B or 3B on his days off instead of DH.

  21. A catcher with an .800 OPS is very good. A 3B with an .800 OPS not nearly as good. I do agree, however, that he certainly seems to be more useful at 3B. (Or 2B) I would hope that he catches 3 days a week or so to see how he does, and spends the other days at 2B or 3B.

  23. Good read. Great photo gallery.
  24. Looking at the starting pitching for the "All Brewerfan.net Team" is pretty depressing. Lets hope some 2008 draft picks pan out. Huntsville's projected line up looks really good again. The Arizona Fall League has been so depressing. Gamel really had a chance to show he could handle 3B in the MLB for 2009 - only to be shut down for the year with a sore elbow. Then Green really had a chance to shine while taking his place - only to take a ball off the face. Jeffress had a chance to show he might be able to contribute out of the pen in 2009 - only to develop a sore shoulder. And Salome, while mature offensively, really needed to get some work on his defense. Frustrating! Lastly, I wonder how the combination of Pena and Aguilar will shake out in Nashville.
  25. Tampa has pitching to spare - but they are highly unlikely to trade Kazmir, Sheilds, Garza or Price. Think about it... They are very young. They have a loaded farm system yet. They have every important player returning. They made it to the World Series. There really isn't any motivation for them to make any moves. Staying the course is probably their best bet. If anything, you might be able to pry away a minor league pitcher, Sonnanstine or Jackson for Hart.
