  1. Alexanders worst case scenario is he replaces Desmond Mason as our energy/dunker. So at least he should be exciting to watch.
  2. I can't remember where I heard it... But per population, the Brewers have the best attendance in MLB.
  3. Manny Parra is becoming the pitcher we hoped he would. While his peripherals still could use some work - he is on pace for a 16 - 4 record as a rookie! We are also only 4 1/2 game back of the Cubs. And since we take them on the last series of the season, we are only 1 1/2 games back from making that series have playoff intensity.
  4. Pogo - I hate how much sense that trade makes for both teams. Too me, Gamel and Jeffress are pretty much untouchable. But getting back Greinke and Gordan would make up for losing those two. I wonder how much Jeffress' past drug suspensions hurt his value.
  5. Remember after Bill Hall signed his long term contract and Yost said that Bill could be an MVP some day. I believed him.
  6. Just my two cents... The Bucks thought Alexander was the best player available. It's not like a lot of all-stars come out of the #8 spot. Even if his ceiling is 6th man, he can still be valuable to the Bucks. I wanted Augustin. But I don't hate Alexander either. (And getting Jefferson was highway robbery)
  7. Escobar with his 7th(!) home run tonight. That has to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the Brewer's season.
  8. I've always been concerned with the passive attitude the Brewers seem to have regarding our 2B position. Rickie Weeks has always seemed like a player likely to leave Milwaukee before he realizes his talent. The problem is, we don't have any really good 2B in the wings. (I really hope they move Taylor Green to 2B next year)
  9. He has a club option for next year at $7 million. He obviously has a huge injury history. However, I am surprised more teams aren't talking about him. The Cubs have shown some interest, but it seems pretty quiet. He has been lights out this year. (And his entire career - when healthy) I would much prefer to take a bit of a gamble (really $7 is a pretty small gamble) then trade for C.C. To me, Bedard and Harden are pretty equal.
  10. Unfortunately, Geoff was our star player. D'oh! I say it gets done - and he signs for significantly more than Braun.
  11. For the record, there is a very good chance at this time next year Taylor Green will be considered a very legitimate prospect. His numbers in A+ are fantastic.
  12. Jim Edmonds has been amazing for the Cubs. He had an OPS under .500 at San Diego. He has an OPS around .950 in Chicago.
  13. Huntsville has been getting some pretty big love lately from some national sources. (I can't remember the other one I read) SI mentions Huntsville's lineup today in regards to the upcoming trading deadline... One team in excellent position to trade for a starting pitcher should be the Brewers, who are stacked with prospects. Scouts have converged on their Double-A team at Huntsville, Ala., where several big-time prospects, including first baseman Matt LaPorta, catcher Salome Angel, third baseman Mat Gamel and shortstop Alcides Escobar, play. Kudos to scouting director Jack Zduriencik, whose picks also include Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun and many others who have made the Brewers a hot young contender.
  14. Jeffress goes all 7 innings with 8 strikeouts. That is impressive. 10 ground outs and only 2 fly outs. That is ridiculous. I wonder if Green would have a shot at a promotion if not for Gamel.
  15. I heard Bedard used to work in a puppy killing factor. (I mean, can't we spread a few more rumors about Bedard to drive down his value.) Seriously though, I wonder if some of these comments are driving down his value. Bavasi had some pretty unpleasant things to say.
  16. Ben Sheets is making himself a lot of money.
  17. I know Jim Callis has said Salome is a legitimate catching prospect.
  18. I really hope the Brewers staff is "tinkering" with Butler a little. If he is learning something new, the poor results are excusable. But if this is the best we get...ouch.
  19. I agree 100%. Except, so was Jason Kendall. And Gabe Kapler. And Joe Dillon. And Torres was retired. Cirillo was past washed up. The Brewers have had much better luck with "washed up" players than "up and coming" players. I just don't know what to think anymore. Thank goodness for Doug.
  20. I just can't get into Helena baseball. Thank goodness colbyjack handles all that information for me. Once players reach A+ I start to really pay attention.
  21. Thanks for the numbers Jaybird. That is about what I expected. (No surprise to see San Diego listed)
  22. It's been a long time since we received some good Rogers news. (And I am sure if feels a lot longer to Mark) Scar tissue can often break up on it's own. Plus, doing another surgery can create more scar tissue. So this isn't very encouraging. It almost sounds like they are grasping at straws along the "something isn't right here" train of thought. Best of luck to him.
