  1. George Sherrill, Orioles closer. He's proving that he can handle closing duties. A logical choice for the Brewers, who still have prospects to move. Chad Bradford and Jamie Walker are other relievers for Baltimore to dangle. Odds for a deal: 4-1. I think he is in his first year of Arbitration - so we would have him for a few years. Interesting idea.
  2. - I don't like tailgating. - The only day I ever liked Jenkins was the day he took out his ad thanking the Milwaukee Fans. (Has anyone else noticed Bill Hall morphing into a RH Jenkins?) - I gave up on Weeks a long time ago. - I've sold tickets to Cub's fans I didn't know. I've given tickets to Cub's fans I did know. - I really miss Carlos Lee - I loved Turnbow.
  3. Oh Logic and Reason! - you are a grey cloud indeed! Those were my thoughts exactly. He hurt his knee. Unless he is throwing with his foot - this really isn't a development at all. Of course he would continue to throw (at least somewhat) while rehabbing his knee. Did you really expect him to go an entire year before he picked up a baseball!?!?
  4. Well, we just have to trade for Jesus now.... Oakland must be really worried about Harden's health. But more importantly, so must every other GM. I am sure Beane didn't take the first offer the Cubs threw at him. The Brewers would have had a chance to beat that offer and apparently passed.
  5. After Sunday's game, when many had already left early - my friend and I both left at the same time. He was parked in the parking lot. I was over on Wisconsin avenue parked on the street. I had been back home in West Bend for about 5 minutes before they got out of the parking lot. That is why.
  6. Brantley might be the more talented player. But he is an OF - unless you believe he is actually a 1B! Green plays 3B and 2B. I guess I would rather keep him because he doesn't have as much competition blocking his path. Either way, it makes the price much higher.
  7. I know I did. But I might have over valued them simply because their names sounded so good together. Bryson was certainly the "nugget" Cleveland was hoping to mine.
  8. Bought tickets as soon as LaPorta was scratched from his start in Huntsville.
  9. Are you serious? Have you followed the Brewers for the past 2 months. Torres is our closer. And he is going to remain our closer.
  10. I know Green has not been traded, but the point is almost a little moot at this juncture. If he is a possibility, then at least a player of his quality is included in the deal. So instead of getting a good deal by giving up LaPorta, Jackson, and Bryson - I think we over paid a little. I would guess it comes down to Lucroy or Green. But I hope it is a 2008 draft pick who I haven't grown to like yet.
  11. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Poop. I loved Green. Can we pay him off to muff a few balls at 2B so Cleveland doesn't take him?
  12. All he said is Green is at home and hasn't heard anything. If Cleveland hasn't decided yet, why would they call and tell Green is might be traded?
  13. So is it possible the PTBNL is just because Cleveland isn't sure? Are they going to choose from a list of potential players? (Green or Lucroy?)
  14. I love agent39. However, I hate rain on my parade. And I am not sleeping until this baby is done.
  15. So it is 100% official - Lucroy is not in the deal - correct? (Because if LaPorta wasn't a PTBNL - then my theory is neither would Lucroy)
  16. That is fantastic news. Agent 39 - I am soo happy we still have Green on our team. We traded players who were blocked. That is all you can really give up for a 3 month rental. Awesome.
  17. Where did this West Virginia team come from!?! All of a sudden they are unstoppable.
  18. Good to hear. Thanks for the updates Agent39. I really hope the best for Taylor Green. He seemed like a great kid - always glowing reports about his work ethic. I think he would have been great in Milwaukee and the fans would have loved him. But if the Brewers had to trade him - then I wish him the best of luck in Cleveland.
  19. Escobar, Salome, Gamel and Gillespie are playing tonight. So they are not in the trade.
  20. We need to update this thread as soon as we know who the other minor league players are so I don't have to read through 15 pages trying to figure out who the trade included. I was very very hesitant to trade away top prospects - but boy did my summer just get more exciting!
  21. Are you sure about that one? I can't believe it only took 75 pages for this to happen. When it becomes official, we have to start a new thread in the "Major League" forum. This one needs to die.
  22. From Haudricourt's latest blog posting. I told you Burnett was looking like a realistic choice.
  23. It was St. Patrick's day. They were wearing ugly green uniforms. That might help someone find it in the MLB archives.
  24. It will get lost in the shuffle because the Brewers won... But Bill Hall is the worst base runner I have ever seen. (Well, at least for a fast & athletic player)
  25. Yes, one team is being realistic. LaPorta + (Say Gamel) is ions better than the two compensation picks that the Indians would receive. (Not to mention the 5 million we have to pay Sabathia the rest of the year) Can't blame the Indians for trying - but no rental is worth that much. This is starting to seem like one of those situations where the GM over reaches and ends up with nothing because he spent the whole month of July insisting that he didn't have to trade the player. (Soriano with Washington) If Shapiro messes this up, he might cost himself a job.
