  1. In honor of National Talk Like a Pirate Day, I hope Suppan makes the scurvy Astros walk the plank.
  2. I am most excited they now have a line of The Office bobbleheads. I totally want the Andy Bernard bobblehead to compliment my Dwight & Michael bobbles I have at work. The episode tonight was alright. It had its moments.
  3. We have a Gamel sighting! It only took a 7-run deficit.
  4. It is time to shut Yo down for the year. There is no reason to kill his confidence (not to mention his arm) in these meaningless games where he hasn't pitched in weeks. Start the young kids for the rest of the year and get some player development going, that includes the bullpen arms. The arms on guys like Coffey, Weathers, etc. have to be hanging at this point. I know Macha is still trying to win and save his job, but there comes a point where winning and player development have about equal value, if not weighted more towards player development.
  5. Football rules today Commercial break Houdini Stops the rally cold
  6. That scar tissue breaking up in Bush's arm may have been the best thing to happen to him. Ever since the doctors said he can't really do anything to hurt it and he'd just have to work through it, Bush has pitched very well. I find it amusing even Bill & Brian sounded slightly confused as to why Coffey is pitching the 9th in an 8 run game. He hasn't pitched since Tuesday, but yeah.
  7. Does that mean we would become the keepers of all which is right in baseball? lol. This would definitely be an interesting move. I wouldn't put it past Mark A. to strongly consider this as something to better the team in the long term. Any staff LaRussa would put together is probably better than any staff Macha can put together.
  8. The more of Macha I've seen, the less I have liked. The playing time issues for the young guys (Gamel, Escobar) have already been mentioned so I won't continue to bang that drum. It does appear as though Macha is slightly hesitant to play call-ups consistently or give them ample opportunities as referenced in previous threads about Gamel and the infamous comment he made about how he decided to start Carlos Villanueva out of the bullpen instead of Tim Dillard because he didn't feel Dillard's secondary pitches translated well to getting out big league hitters as a starter. One of the biggest things which I find frustrating is his overall demeanor. As a young team one might think that having a manager who never shows that they are upset or angry outwardly may be a good thing, but one time I'd just like to see him go out there like Bobby Cox or Ned Yost and let someone have it. That is one of the best things Yost brought to the team is he stuck up for his teams and his players to a fault (it also led to short-sighted decisions and ultimately his demise as a manager, but that is neither here nor there). Even if a call is obviously wrong it seems as though Macha goes out there, gives it a half hearted effort and returns to the dugout. That has to have some tangible effect on the players. I think as a young team having a guy who can show that passion and fire in an appropriate situation might actually be a positive thing. The fact our pitching staff is in shambles isn't really Macha's fault, but at this point we should be playing for 2010 and starting the kids. I realize maybe there is some internal pressure to start guys like Patterson and Gerut to see if they have a role on the 2010 team, but Gamel and Escobar really should be starting pretty much every day from here on out.
  9. If Fielder is still around he probably will get one for setting the team record in RBI. Maybe they do a Uecker bobblehead. Parra maybe. If they pick up a name in a trade or keep Felipe Lopez maybe Lopez gets a bobble.
  10. During the broadcast yesterday they said Cameron tweaked a muscle in his leg (hamstring, I think), so that is probably what is up with the back-to-back off days. A hurting Dave Bush and a Yostian B-squad lineup. Sounds like a W to me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. I definitely think they want to get to as many fans as they can before Wisconsin's eyes fully turn to the Badgers and/or Packers. One thing I noticed about the advertising was that there were no pictures of Fielder to be found. It was Braun, Yo, and Parra. I'm sure I'm just reading too much into that, but I found it amusing.
  12. Fielder is having an amazing year. That celebration was awesome but I'm sure someone will get beaned because of it. Just the way the game works. There were some nice defensive gems today!
  13. Well, I wasn't expecting that. How often do you see a 5-4-3 triple play?
  14. Are we sure Velez isn't a former Pirate? He has absolutely killed us this series.
  15. Depending on how McClung's recovery is coming along they could clear one spot by placing him on the 60-day DL. That said, I don't see the Brewers calling up a bunch of guys and putting them out there for a Yostian B-squad lineup.
  16. The lineup, per the Brewers Blog: BREWERS 2B Felipe Lopez RF Jason Bourgeois LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 3B Casey McGehee SS JJ Hardy C Jason Kendall CF Jody Gerut RHP Braden Looper Hopefully Looper can avoid the home run ball today, considering he has given up at least one in his last 8 starts.
  17. They wear the retros the first Friday home game of each month only now. Keep tacking runs on, Brewers. Our pitching staff needs it.
  18. Did Laynce Nix hit two home runs in his entire time with us? The magic internet says no. That said, he only had a whopping 61 PA. Who kills us more, former Brewers, or former Pirates? Discuss. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Brad Fischer is a woeful third base coach. Nice rally by the 'crew, though!
  20. At least Braun showed some emotion and hustle on that play, we know Macha never will (at least the emotion part, lol.).
  21. Is this a time where it is appropriate to say it is just Manny being Manny? As the said on the broadcast last night, these are the two teams with the worst ERA's in the National League. This game is far from over.
  22. Where have I been for so long that the Brewers are 30-62? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif lol. 3 games in a row would be considered a winning streak, Brewers.
  23. Stay hot, offense. We need you now more than ever. LOL.
  24. Hooray for putting up a snowman. It is kind of nice to be on the other end of these types of innings. This inning had it all, hustle, bad defense, plate discipline, and cookie pitches.
  25. Apparently someone woke up the offense. I guess that shows what patience will do, take a couple walks, get a Magruder-esque single, and have Yo help himself. FWIW, if Quintero doesn't drop the ball or step out infront of the plate Casey was out. Easily.
