  1. According to MLBtraderumors.com... Cubs Sign Alex Cintron Minor signing this morning, as the Cubs inked shortstop Alex Cintron to a minor league deal according to ESPN 1000 Radio's Bruce Levine. Does this have implications for Ronny Cedeno, who's been a rumored piece in the Brian Roberts discussions? And since Cintron had been on Baltimore's radar, will they now focus on Juan Uribe? Cintron, 29, hit .243/.281/.324 for the White Sox in 185 ABs last year. He dealt with bone spurs in his elbow, a bruised thumb, and time spent on the bereavement list for his grandfather.
  2. What will he say? I believe he will admit to making "mistakes" in his past just like LoDuca did.
  3. The goal is that he is starting for us by April 16th. What is the over/under for that date? I predict he will make his first start April 29th vs the Cubs. PS-By the way, I know we really have no idea what date he will come back, but it makes it fun to speculate.
  4. It is good to back to posting consistently after a long off-season. I just have gotten to the point that this does not matter to me much anymore. We all know Bonds is guilty and half of baseball was as well around 2001. I don't want him to go to jail or be found guilty. I would rather see him go away like Mark McGuire.
  5. Well to each his/her own, but I have to disagree with this one. I lived down in St. Louis for a baseball season, and was more than unimpressed. No parking near the stadium, and what is available is over priced. The fans are snobby, boring, and barely even stand up and cheer during a game changing home run. The stadium is ok, the seating is very gradual so if someone of decent height is in front of you, good luck. Tickets are over priced in "baseball heaven" and they announce a sell out with 10k empty seats. It's one of my least favorite venues. I think St. Louis is a toilet. That being said, they still have some great fans. They are no better or worse than our fans. Therefore, lay off of them. We have some of the most uneducated, trashy fans in MLB too.
  6. Hardy or/and Hall. Both overrated and should be traded while value is semi-high.
  7. This is really the only time of year that I check this part of the forum and many times ridiculous trades are being bantered about and you just chuckle a bit. However, this is just a trade "forum" so I expect there to be a lot of odd trade ideas that are uneven. It is all about having fun once and awhile. I surely hope nobody would go on here and assume any of these trades were actually going to happen. On that note, if someone actually has inside info, that they would post it on the MLB board. I remember some guy on here breaking the Ryan Braun news on there about him being called up well before it was official. For now, this forum is just for 'what if" trades so I see no problem in people throwing things up against the wall to see if they will stick.
  8. Taken from here: Linkage. It always about getting deeper into our pockets...just like when Uncle Bud was running the show. What a scam! Oh well. With Nedly back and the 9% increase I guess it will just be single games next year, no way I'm renewing the 20 pack. Will we ever get past this? Every year complaints arise about increasing ticket prices. Let's face it though, it is a fact of life. I by no means think it is a scam. In fact, i believe it is good business. When Bud did it, it was a scam because the Brewers did not try to win. I think it is a different era though and Mark A. has proven in a short time that he is serious about winning. If you don't like it, don't go to the games. In fact, order a pizza and get some good beer (Anchor Steam or maybe Hoegaarden) and enjoy the game at home. No biggie. I went to three games this year at Miller Park and watched 125 games on Direct TV in Chicago and was fine with it. (Especially when I got to listen to visitors announcers.)
  9. Turnbow might actually throw a strike then...
  10. Turnbow. Plain and simple. He started the first Brewer slide in Philly after blowing a 6-2 lead in the 8th. It continued pretty much every other appearance he had. Just like Rex grossman-a total mental midget. Sheets was the biggest letdown.
  11. Yost was not awful today and he was not good. He got away with Spurling earlier pitching and got away with starting TBow in the 8th. He also made a poor decision with the three strike bunt with Counsell. If Counsell (or Dillon) drive in that run from third, this conversation is not happening.
  12. Most people don't vent after a big win. Don't be a Yost backer buddy because nobody is venting. Was Counsell and Hall the right choices? I still say no. If you look at the matchups that Yost wanted against Hudson, they combined went 0-5 with 3 Ks and a walk. Hardly anything worth crowing about. They ended up actually coming through against late inning relievers...not the big matchup Yost was talking about against Hudson.
  13. Brettac and billyhallfan, Of any two people, I am surprised you two are with me on this one. We have had our battles, but we all just want the Brewers to win. The real biggest move that has a small chance to happen is we get rid of Yost and add LaRussa and absolutely cleanse ourselves of Derrick Turnbow.
  14. Nobody will like this comment, but I would take him at 1 year at 9 million to fill Jenkins spot. (Yes, he would be too stubborn to take less than ten.) He could start 100 games and bat 3rd in front of Fielder, Braun, and Hart and put up another 30 jacks and .450 OBP. Yes, I am that desperate to win.
  15. This is the best basic quote that I have heard thus far. No need to say more. Very well put!
  16. I really, really hope this Ned Yost line of thinking costs him his job. It has been amazing the amount of people who have turned on Yost throughout this season...myself included. Not many people blaming the players and defending Yost anymore. It almost makes me wonder...would it be better to make the playoffs and lose because of Yost or just tank and get Yost fired? I want the Brewers to make the playoffs more than anybody and i hope they do. However, what scares me is that if the Crew does not make the playoffs and they keep Yost. I also think that it would be an easy fire job for Melvin because Yost has very little support anymore.
  17. After tonights loss, I believe the Brewers margin for error is very slim. I think that anything less than 8-2 will knock them out. What do you all think? I believe the Cubs will go 6-3 the rest of the way.
  18. I think a lot of people on here get offended a bit by the criticism of Rickie because it has been a bit harsh at times. The Brewers people should vent their frustration at this year should be Estrada, TBlow, and of course...Bill Hall. That is "The Great BFan.net Superstar," Bill Hall. Mr. Overrated himself.
  19. Ned still cannot manage a bullpen. The only way I can still give him a pass is if Brewers win division.
  20. Enough about the CF switch. CF are not usually power guys and in fact 2nd basemen and SS have more power these days so actually he is in a position that hits weaker than he was in before.
  21. When you deal in small samples its easy to go back and point at being right every time one of your guys goes on a hot streak. Small samples? People on this website live on small samples that are much smaller than this. Is it true that Bill Hall is bad this year? Is is it true Rickie is having a bad year? Yes to both, but Billy's struggles far surpass them of Rickie.
  22. I love it!!! It is nice to see many of you are seeing the light and realizing Bill Hall is majorly underachieving. I stressed this back in June during the good times. At that time, people ripped me and kept using the stupid position change excuse. Nice to see that some are realizing this guy is just simply not getting it done. I was one who had expectations for that this guy would be a team leader and really produce. Maybe not last years numbers...but at least 30 homers and 90 RBIs with .275 average and .350 OBP. At the same time, Rickie Weeks was getting ripped to shreds, I stuck up for him. I did agree he needed the minors because he was plain awful. I think we may be realizing the wrist WAS the reason that this happened. He looks like a total different player now. Hopefully, Billy can change and is willing to adjust like Rickie did. Too bad it is too late in the season to send his butt down.
  23. Much respect for your opinion, but what were you seeing about Spurling that led you to think he was any good?
