  1. Anyone know whats going on with Macha and the umps. The St. Louis annoucers are really confused as well.
  2. How about The Stroke. He's got a nice swing, and, much like the band The Strokes, Mat will probably never be able to live up to the hype.
  3. If he's a type A, I'm a little less interested. The Brewers will be forced to offer arby and after what happened to marginal Type As this past off season, I bet a guy like DeRosa takes it.
  4. At the very least, if Hall gets benched we now have a leading candidate for Brewerfan whipping boy.
  5. Don't worry, the only type of idiots who watch inside edition are the one's who go to baseball games to get drunk and fight anyway. But seriously, they should just post this on The Onion Web site. This fan appears to be passed out ... AND IT'S ONLY THE FIFTH INNING! LOL, take the cameras out the parking lot; there's guys asleep out there that never made past the tailgate party.
  6. I just listened to the radio broadcast last night. Can someone tell me what the Astros announcers are talking about at the end of the Hart highlight here. Something about Tejada and "spotlighting?" http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2009_05_21_milmlb_houmlb_1&mode=wrap
  7. I don't know which board you're talking about, but all I can remember reading here are people saying that Eckstein is over hyped for the player he is. Although that was a pretty funny play, and I couldn;t have done a better job spoofing a color commentary on Eckstein if I tried.
  8. Just reported during the 540 postgame. EDIT: On TH blog as well: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/brewers.html Houston - The Brewers made a player move after the game tonight, returning second baseman Hernan Iribarren to Class AAA Nashville and recalling left-handed reliever R.J. Swindle from that club. General manager Doug Melvin said with an interleague series coming up in Minnesota, the extra pitcher will be more beneficial than a hitter because you don't hit for the pitchers in AL parks. The Twins also have a lot of potent left-handed hitters and this gives the Brewers a second lefty in the pen with Mitch Stetter. This move almost guarantees that reserve outfielder Chris Duffy will be cut tomorrow when outfielder Jody Gerut joins the team. The Brewers acquired Gerut earlier today from San Diego for Tony Gwynn Jr. Duffy is out of options, so he would have to clear waivers to go down to Class AAA Nashville.
  9. Do you think Hart, Weeks and Prince just do that as some elaborate hipster joke on the media? I bet they sit around the clubhouse and speak in iambic pentameter.
  10. Just secured a winning 9-game road trip in game 6. I LOVE IT!
  11. Nice play Jason! Always scares me when the C does that though.
  12. Well it looks like Gamel might get a chnce to try his hand at bad major league LHP. Only lefty left in the pen is Wesley Wright and his 7.71 ERA.
  13. Berkman is lucky he lasted as long as he did. He should have been thrown out the second his helmet hit the ground.
  14. Even if Gerut doesn't do much for the Brewers, trades like this can only make me smile. I just remember all those years where the Brewers were on the other ends of trades like this. Hoping that someone's cast off 26-year-old prospect would turn into something great down the road. It makes this last month seem that much sweeter.
  15. From Gord's twitter: Tony Gwynn returns home to SanDiego for outfielder Jody Gerut. Gerut will join the Brewers in Minnesota tomorrow
  16. LOL. You know there are people out there who think we just traded away the future of the franchise. I'll be interested to see how Hall responds given Macha's postgame comments last night. Maybe he starts to make a better effort at the plate tonight. I think for the first time since he moved to third, he's got to be hearing the footsteps ...
  17. I was thinking the Hurricane gets a ticket back to Nashville with an OF glove as a parting gift.
  18. Another lefty? http://sports.espn.go.com...rs/profile?playerId=4615 I call shenanigans.
  19. I like the Willie harris idea consider if any team is out of it's the nationals. But I heard that Harris is their starting CF with Dukes out. Kelly Johnson would be a decent idea but that would seem to signal the Braves waving the white flag, which they don't do this early. Hmmm.
  20. Probably should downgrade this to the rumor thread: It's unlikely the Padres will trade ace pitcher Jake Peavy to the Chicago White Sox ... . It's far more likely that Peavy will start for the Padres on Friday against the Chicago Cubs at Petco Park, according to people close to the pitcher. http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/may/21/padres-peavy-deal-white-sox-not-imminent-9274/?padres
  21. My point wasn't that Gamel should automatically get the full time 3B job if he proves he can hit lefties in a couple of at bats, but before its even considered let's at least see how he looks after playing in a couple consecutive games and after he actually gets some ML at abats against lefties. To me, Gamel needs to prove he can be just compotent on defense before they should even consider a full-time platoon. As I pointed out in my previous post, his ridiculous error very well could've have cost Milwaukee the game on Monday. Hall has been solid in the field thus far and does hit lefties well. Before we hand over the full-time keys to 3B, let's see a little more what Gamel can do.
  22. If the team thinks that 2B needs to be addressed, I hope who the #6 SP is doesn't prevent Melvin from making a move.
  23. Or the Cardinals, Mets, Phillies or any other NL playoff contender.
  24. Once again this discounts Gamel's obvious liabilities on defense. If Mitch Stetter doesn't strike out Chris Duncan in that Monday night game in St. Louis, Gamel's error could've ended up costing the team that game. Gamel's got three hits in eight major league at bats. He's look good at the plate in the limited time we've seen him against ML pitching. After Hall's somberoro last night, maybe tonight Gamel gets the start even with Hall's good numbers againt Oswalt. At the very least we know he will get three starts at DH in Minny and face at least one LH starter and porbably one or two out of the pen. If he shows he can handle major league lefties and that he can handle the position defensively in his spot starts, than maybe it's time to for Machel to consider Gamel at 3B full time. But let's not act like after eight major leage plate appearences our 3B WOAH SOLLVD.
