  1. Ugh. Cordero was a main contributor in our 2007 collapse ... it stings even more knowing that this is his FOURTH season with the Reds and we still haven't scored a run off of him.
  2. @ CIN: 1-0 @ FLA: 1-3 NYM: 2-1 STL: 2-1 @ CHC: 2-2 @ BOS: 1-2 TB: 2-1 MIN: 2-1 @ NYY: 2-1 15-12
  3. Wow, I did not anticipate sweeping the Rockies this weekend. This posits us for a nice, 6-3/7-2 homestand.
  4. I can't get service at Lambeau Field, a sold-out Bradley Center or even weekend nights at Summerfest with AT&T.
  5. Looks like Craig Coshun will be calling Sunday games until the end of May
  6. This has been bugging me for years, and I'm curious to hear opinions from fellow Brewer fans. I absolutely cannot stand the in-game music clips between pitches and at-bats at Miller Park. Somebody please tell me how a five-second clip of "Ice, Ice Baby", "Stayin' Alive", the "Let's Go Brewers" rap clip, or the Finding Nemo fish enhance the in-game experience. Not to mention, the water splash after a foul ball. I also don't know why we need to hear a player's at-bat song before every plate appearance. Or why we play these clips/organ music while our pitchers are on the mound. It's worse than an NBA game. I'm not a traditionalist or old-timer by any means. But this constant bombardment of gratuitous noise -- probably between every other pitch -- is annoying and imho, semi bush-league.
  7. Back in 2007, I had season tickets in the bleachers and I was seated next to a Brewers/Bears fan.
  8. My God, I'd be furious if that ever happened to the Brewers.
  9. It looks like they're not televising many weekday day games, as they have done the past few seasons.
  10. Thursday: Butler/Wisconsin (8:57 pm, TBS) Friday: Marquette/UNC (6:15 pm, CBS)
  11. Marquette vs. Syracuse -- Marquette's 22nd Big East game of the season. Definitely crossing my fingers about Buzz. 6:40 pm Sunday on truTV.
  12. Just a couple of thoughts... --Looking back at the offseason from a distance and with the benefit of hindsight, it's absolutely laughable that the Bucks acquired Salmons, Gooden and Maggette. There was a reason Drew Gooden played for about ten different teams during his career ... and we signed him to a fat FA deal? --Herb Kohl doesn't get it. He doesn't get the notoriety like Donald Sterling or Peter Angelos, but he is the biggest reason why the Bucks have been toiling since the 1980s. Kohl is a truly atrocious owner for encouraging this vicious cycle of gunning for the 8-seed, pretty much every year except 2001 and 2010. We're 22-36 -- what's to gain from trying for 2 home games against Boston v. tanking for a potentially franchise-altering player? Best-case scenario? Tank, get a good lottery slot, and lose a season to a lockout that hopefully will bring some major CBA changes, like a franchise tag, hard cap, non-guaranteed contracts, etc.
  13. I talked to a couple people who were at the game, and they said the halftime show was mind-blowing. There's probably a vast difference between the show in-person and at television. As for the future, I think we're going to see the Foo Fighters/Red Hot Chili Peppers/Taylor Swift/Katy Perry ... in some order.
  14. Toronto will never move. I don't think a lot of people realize how many people live in metro Toronto -- it's bigger than Boston, Houston, DC, Atlanta, etc. They're going to finally get their NFL team during our lifetime, too. Of the teams you listed, I think it's going to be the Rays. But, I don't see where they could move. North Carolina/Virginia Beach: I feel NC is over-satured; is there enough room with all of the NCAA hoops teams, plus the Big 4? Adding 81 games a year is a lot to ask from this area; Virginia Beach is too small Vancouver: the Grizzlies move is a big negative; I don't think the area is big enough, either Las Vegas: off-limits Metro NY/NJ: meh...I just think the area would be over-saturated. What area would you draw new fans from? I think people are pretty much ingrained with their Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Sox, etc. fandom. Portland: probably the best remaining option, but I have doubts about the market size I do agree with Al regarding Mexican expansion, but that's a couple of decades into the future. Buffalo may still be a great MLB site. I hope, if expansion ever comes around again, that Buffalo gets some serious consideration. Buffalo has no problem supporting its NFL Bills The Sabres are well-supported, but the Bills have had BY FAR more blackouts than any other team. Once Ralph Wilson dies, that team is bolting up the 401 to Toronto. A sizeable number of Buffalo fans are from Ontario, too --- so, they're probably Blue Jays fans already.
  15. I was there in 2008 and like others have said, I was shocked by the number of Brewer fans in attendance. There were even a few "Let's go Brewers" chants that lasted until they were drowned out by Red Sox fans. I don't think I've ever been prouder to be a fan. I don't know if I'll be back, seeing as I will be following the Bucks to Boston in March and I'd rather see the Crew play at Yankee Stadium.
  16. I've been to MP, County, Wrigley, Metrodome, Comerica, PNC, Shea, Old Yankee, Wrigley, Nationals, Tropicana, Busch, Progressive, RFK, Marlins and 3Com. The new Busch Stadium and Comerica Park are gorgeous. I know it's blasphemy, but these two parks blow away Miller Park, in terms of character and interior beauty. I can't say enough about Fenway. Yes, it's a dump, but the atmosphere (Green Monster, "Let's go Red Sawx" chants) and the concession choices atone for the cramped, uncomfortable seating. I was really disappointed in Nationals Park. It's terribly bland and it lies near just an absolutely terrifying neighborhood.
  17. It only received a passing mention on both Around the Horn and PTI this afternoon.
  18. You are in my thoughts and prayers, Chad and Jamie.
  19. That's what an Athletic Department's responsibility is imo, not providing free shuttles when students already have free bus passes. I agree, but never underestimate the laziness of college students. Marquette has shuttle buses that take students ten blocks, from 16th to 6th Street. I'm continually amazed how students would rather wait in line for 10-20 minutes and miss tip-off (even for big games, like UW or the 8 v. 2 UConn game in 2009) rather than walk a mile. And, even at a basketball-only school, what is the incentive for me to attend a game against Coppin State on a Tuesday night when I know I could stay home at do homework or watch TV? Marquette plays a 10 am home game on January 1. I can't wait to see the student section turnout for that game.
  20. I love my team, but I hate the league and the evil genius who runs it. As I'm getting older, though, the college game has really become excruciatingly boring to me, compared to the NBA.
  21. I thought he was terrible on the radio, but aside from that, this is sad news. I had a lot of respect for him -- he heroically dealt with a litany of physical ailments, but he was as tough as nails. Rest in peace, Ronnie.
  22. What about the luck the Yankees had in Game 1? The Yankees have played like crap -- their hitting (sans G1) has been bad and their pitching has been worse. Too bad for them ... they picked an inopportune time to play poorly.
