  1. @ SF: 2-1 CHC: 2-1 CIN: 1-2 @ NYM: 1-2 @ PHI: 0-3 @ HOU: 2-1 PIT: 3-0 ARZ: 0-1 11-11. Mid-April will be rough (Villanueva will blow two saves), but ending the month against the Astros and Pirates will help to right the ship.
  2. Yahoo! MLB Predictions If you're going to make predictions about the records of each team, can we at least assume that the league-wide record will be 2430-2430? Maybe I'm nitpicking, but if you're going to publish a prediction, at least expend the effort to making sure your numbers are accurate: Brown: 2416-2444 Passan: 2430-2430 Edes: 2425-2435 Henson: 2416-2444
  3. I don't understand how they can call that a value meal with a straight face. Where does the value come in when paying $10 for a hot dog, fries and a drink. I think it will eventually get to the point where the high prices result in significantly less sales to the point where they are forced to lower the prices. You probably save $1-$1.50, assuming it's not a kiddy-sized drink. We have it good here in Milwaukee. A beer at Madison Square Garden will cost you $8.75. I wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers had the most inexpensive concessions in pro sports.
  4. The Milwaukee Bucks sold out their first and only game of the season tonight.
  5. Don't know if has mentioned this anywhere in this thread: ESPN Magazine has picked the Astros to finish third, ahead of the Brewers. That prediction comes from the same "journalists" who picked the Bengals to win a Wild Card.
  6. I don't think there is significant proof of anything beyond a possible abuse of power issue here. He said, "I can make your life very difficult" to a guy who's mother-in-law is dying, just steps away. He also drew his gun. I think it's a definite abuse of power. Police must have strong discretion skills -- isn't his job to serve and protect? This reflects terribly on the Dallas PD, so I imagine that he'll be ousted.
  7. I was really appalled to see Villanova playing in Philly -- here are two home games, courtesy of the NCAA! Villanova should have been docked a couple of seeds for getting to play at home. IIRC, that's what happened to the Badgers in '04. How often has Duke or UNC had to actually leave their region for a non-final four NCAA game? It seems like there's a first-round site in Greensboro, Charlotte, or Raleigh every year, and both UNC and Duke (and Wake Forest on occasion) don't have to leave North Carolina. Was it last year that UNC didn't have to leave North Carolina until the Final Four?
  8. The Brewers have won their past five Opening Day games. I'm not liking our chances of making that six, even though the Brewers have had relative success against Lincecum. I only hope he pitches in Milwaukee sometime this summer. SF will play here six times, so the odds are good.
  9. I liked how the Missouri fans were booing Buzz Williams/Marquette after the game. Clearly, the clock operator was doing a poor job, and Buzz had a gripe. And, by the way, if you're the University of Missouri, your uniforms should say "Missouri", not "Mizzou." I personally found that kind of irritating.
  10. It just shouldn't be a mistake that a Division I basketball player should make--ever. It happens, though. It was a momentary lapse of judgment. Athletes make stupid mistakes -- even the pros. Hayward is going to remember that mistake his entire life, so I really feel for him.
  11. The Badgers were offensively challenged today. It's a bummer, especially since Xavier may now draw Oklahoma State, instead of Pitt. Edit: Well, scratch that.
  12. Higgins blew the two looseball fouls against Burke at the end of the game -- he had a right to the ball in both situations. Did anybody else not see the final 40 seconds because of an Emergency Broadcast System test? Of course, it's a weekly test and it pops up at quite possibly the worst possible time. I think MU's comeback boosts them an extra seed. 8 to 7 or 7 to 6.
  13. Brains and braun: I've already sold the Braun bobblehead tickets. Let me know if you're interested in any other games...thanks.
  14. PMs sent to both of you.
  15. I received mine through USPS Priority Mail today.
  16. I'll get back to you guys when I receive my 20-pack. Should be coming either tomorrow or Wednesday...
  17. I have 2 tickets in the Terrace Reserve, Section 423, Row 9, Seats 2-3, that I need to trade/sell for the following games: Sun., Apr. 12, 7:05 pm -- vs. Cubs Sun., May 3, 1:05 pm -- vs. D'Backs (Braun Bobblehead) Fri., May 8, 7:05 pm -- vs. Cubs Fri., Jul. 24, 7:05 pm -- vs. Braves I'd prefer to trade the tickets for different games (I'm pretty flexible, so we can negotiate), but I wouldn't be opposed to selling, either. I'd prefer to trade the Cubs games for another Cubs or White Sox game.
  18. I'll be in New York next week, and I definitely will try to make my way up to the Bronx to check out the exterior. The private boxes and team offices look spectacular. The seating bowl reminds me of a blend between the old stadium and Petco Park. Agreed with Brian -- well done and very classy.
  19. That's a good thought. I just saw those two names at the top of the order and had flashbacks to 2002.
  20. I don't care if it's the second week of Spring Training -- Kendall and Counsell leading off makes me want to scream.
  21. Thew NBA is a third tier sport that the press treats on the same level as football and baseball when it just isn't. Do you have any basis for this other than your own opinion? It doesn't make much sense to me. I suggest reading the Bill Simmons article about the economics of the current NBA. He interviewed execs at the All-Star Game, and they had some outlanidsh predictions about the next few teams. One apparently believes that 15(!) NHL teams will fold over the next, and one believes that MLB will suffer the next couple of years. And, the outlook does not look good for the NBA -- I think many, many teams are experiencing cash flow problems. The Tigers were near the top of the league in attendance last year, so there's no way they're going to be in the most trouble. AKA Pete, I think the Padres are in trouble -- they're going to be really bad this year, and they have FO turmoil. It'll be ugly at the gates this season. I could also see the Orioles and Blue Jays having trouble.
  22. Spring training games = decrease in productivity http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif And seeing Hardy thrown out at the plate scares me, although Paul Bako =/= Sal Fasano.
  23. I have a friend who works as an MU team manager, so he "works" on the sideline during games. Two things: a) He says the officiating was putrid and one-sided, FWIW. b) He says the whole locker room was crying after the game. Poor Dominic...nobody deserves what happened to him tonight.
  24. i have heard some ticket prices are up over $200 a pop. unbelievable for a college game in february Yeah -- student section tickets are going for a premium today. I was lucky enough to steal one from a good friend for only $35. The campus is buzzing today, and I can't wait to get down there!
