  1. Wouldn't Lincecum start opening day for the Giants? Steak and lobster. They could just flip a coin. I honestly believe CC enjoyed his time in Milwaukee. July, August, and September was an absolute thrillride for everybody involved in our organization. But, is he really going to pass up an additional $40 million for comfort? Maybe I'm a greedy turd, but if I'm CC, I'm taking the most money.
  2. Per Sportscenter, Garnett suspended for the Celtics next game vs. the Knicks. Bogut fined. Bennett Salvatore is a fool. He and his crew should be fined. If it's blatant, fine. But I hate when these NBA refs disrupt the competitive balance with questionable technical fouls.
  3. The Simpsons: The episodes have gotten lamer and lamer. All good things must come to an end -- it's about time. American Idol: It's going to be around for a long, long time. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be cancelled. According to Jim: Do I even need an explanation? Desperate Housewives: The first season was excellent, but it's become too outlandish since. Family Guy: It's losing its luster. Two and Half Men will be regarded as one of the best sitcoms of this decade (The Office, Scrubs, etc.), but I think it's close to running its course. On the other hand, South Park has been brilliant for the past 12 years. Some may not like the shocking, potty humor, but it never fails to entertain me.
  4. Well, my Brewers 20-pack fund is going to take a hit. This Bucks team has been fun to watch thus far. I know it's very early, only about 1/8 through the season, but I'm enjoying this team. I hate to use Ned-speak, but they have a grittyness to them. LRMAM just "flies around", Jefferson has been a very solid contributor, and Sessions is a star in the making. I know they've played garbage teams the past couple nights, but the defensive effort is enough to keep me watching. They've been down by double digits in the second half both tonight and against the Spurs, but they've dug themselves out of the hole -- in past years they would have lost by 20 points. The upcoming schedule looks terrifying (BOS, @DEN, @UTA ... @ORL, @ATL, @DET, CLE ... @LAL, @PHX, @GS), but let's hope they can steal a couple of those and stay relevant. I just love the defense and our young core.
  5. Sal's Pizza in Milwaukee (21st & Wisconsin, I believe) has a buy-one-get-one-free pizza slice until 7 pm tonight. I'm not sure if it only applies to those who have voted, though.
  6. http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=t&chs=440x220&chtm=usa&chf=bg,s,336699&chco=cc0000&chd=s:9999999999999999999999999999999999&chld=ALAZARCACTDEILFLINGAIAKYLAMDMEMAMIMNMSMONENVNJNHNYOHSDPATNRIWIVAWVTX I'm pretty well-traveled east of the Mississippi River -- couldn't quite get to Vermont on my trips through New England. I plan on taking a trip on I-90 from Madison to Seattle when the Brewers play the Mariners. That should take care of WY, ID, MT, and WA.
  7. I still like it, too, but it's lost its luster lately. -It has become increasingly apparent that the creators/writers are injecting their agendas into the show. I won't get into it here, but if you've been watching the show lately, it's quite obvious. It's bordering on offensive. -The episode with Stewie and Brian traveling back to Nazi Germany was absolutely pointless. Did they run out of ideas? -Peter has become ridiculously stupid. His baffoonery isn't funny anymore. I almost hope they kill him off.
  8. This franchise is in trouble. Nobody cares, and I don't think winning would even solve that. I remember hearing that about the Brewers in 2002-2003. I heard people say: "Even if the Brewers make the playoffs, they'd be like the Braves, and the games wouldn't sell out." Obviously, we know how that turned out. The Bradley Center was awesome during the 2000-2001 season. The fans were loud and the place was packed. I was quite disappointed that the Bucks didn't even approach a sellout, but if they start winning, the fans will show up and interest will rise considerably. Like Gobias said, that always happens. In a northern/midwest city, that's a given. Edit: There's one exception: The Nets. Game 4 of the 2003 NBA Finals in NJ was not a sellout. That's mind-boggling.
  9. I asked my student employees about O.A.R. and got mostly eye rolls. I've seen them at Summerfest the past couple of years. What a boooring show.
  10. It didn't take to long for people to post they didn't care about the NBA or didn't like it... I didn't want this thread to take that course because I want to discuss Bucks basketball, but a lot of the disenchantment with the NBA, particularly in the Milwaukee-area, is derived from the 2001 Eastern Conference Finals. I don't know why the NBA allowed its officials to eject a key player (Big Dog) in a pivotal Game 4, and the Scott Williams suspension still makes my blood boil. That type of "meddling" deep into the postseason is unheard of in other major sports. Man, we would have given the Lakers a run for their money... Tonight's game was encouraging. Winning decisively on the road in the NBA, no matter the opponent, is a noteworthy feat. A balanced scoring attack, good D, sharing the basketball ... I might just go to the game Saturday!
  11. Yeah, really, TLB. When their CEO/owner/president congratulated the Rays, you could hear the booing. Do those fans realize how dumb that makes them look?
  12. Good for him. You could see the exuberation after the double. Enjoy your ring, Geoff. You didn't really deserve it ... but you did sign with the right team http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Someone talk me down. I absolutely hate the NBA. I loathe David Stern. I buy into some of the conspiracies associated with Stern and the league. I can name only maybe two or three things I like about the NBA. But, I love the Bucks, and I watch practically every game. You can definitely hate professional basketball and America, but still be a fan of a specific team.
  14. I'm irritated by the format of the WSSP shows. Their shows are run by their callers, which IMO, brings little entertainment value. When you listen to sports AM stations in other markets (The Score in Chicago is a good one), the shows are dominated by a couple of dynamic personalities. It makes for much more entertaining radio. I'm not too harsh on Gary because I used to know him, but he brings little to the show. I listen to the 2-6 pm show pretty often, but I missed the fight. What was the fight about?
  15. Maybe I'm dreaming, but I thought Ridnour was out with a bad knee tonight? I'm cautiously optimistic about this season -- I really like what Skiles will bring to this team. My God, the Kohl/Harris/Larry K/Stotts regime was absolutely toxic, so it probably won't get any worse. I think homecourt will give Chicago a slight edge tonight, but I'm looking to spoiling the inagural game in Oklahoma City tomorrow.
  16. I hope those Philly fans were able to salvage their tickets for tomorrow. They must be awfully soggy.
  17. So, just when you thought this World Series was over ... we're on the cusp of a two-day suspension. It doesn't look like they'll be able to play tonight, and tomorrow night's weather calls for continuous rain and temperatures in the mid-30s. Here's how I see it playing out: Wednesday: Game 5 @ Philadelphia Friday: Game 6 @ Tampa Bay Saturday (Nov. 1 ): Game 7 @ Tampa Bay Can you imagine if the game was called and Philadelphia won the World Series after a two-hour rain delay with a 2-1, 5 1/2 inning victory? Extremely lame for the Phillies and their fans ... and the Rays, too.
  18. John Kruk on Game Two of the World Series: "It's not the type of at bat -- it's the quality of the at bat." "The Phillies aren't producing because they're making bad productive outs." What?
  19. I'd be okay with: "2008 National League Wild Card" I don't like the phrasing: "Wild Card Winners/Champions" It doesn't quite roll off the tongue.
  20. I just spilled a glass of water all over my cell phone and it still works beautifully. I feel like I cheated death!
  21. Wow, I know one of the kids on that list. I think the collective support of bf.net will be enough to put him over the top http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  22. http://sportsmediawatch.b...out-against-baseball.html So, for as much as we've been ripping the Rays "loyal" fan base, Game Seven did outdraw the Seahawks-Bucs game in the same timeslot. Keep in mind, the NFL game was on NBC, and the baseball game was on TBS cable. That Seahawks-Bucs game is now the lowest rated primetime game in NFL history. I guess Tampa cares a bit more than we think.
  23. This is ridiculous Game 7 of the ALCS or going to an NFL game because you want to see Mike Alstott at halftime? If Tampa Bay wasn't playing the Red Sox, I'd be cheering for the opponent. Jeez.
  24. Well, we have an epic Game Seven on our hands. The Rays have been playing with fire the past couple innings, and now have loaded the bases with two outs. Anybody else feel like Boston is destined to pull this game out?
