  1. Yeah, I saw that Ennder. They're in full lock-down mode over there. They're really, really on the ledge.
  2. Memo to Prince Fielder: Work the count. Watch the ball.
  3. Some people are here trying to enjoy the simple fact that the Brewers have returned to the playoffs after 26 years. Everybody is enjoying the fact that the Brewers have made the playoffs. But I don't think it's unreasonable for people to be kind of PO'ed when they have two hits in this game, and three runs in this entire series, considering the promise of the first inning.
  4. The booers should can it when they're introduced on the foul lines before Saturday's game. Kinda like they shouldn't have booed Gagne on Opening Day. If Hart's incompetence continues, he's fair game, IMO. He opened himself up for a load of criticism with his comments about the booing.
  5. No, we certainly aren't. We can't expect to win the World Series every year. So I don't think it's fair to call this season "disappointing." We've had so many players underperform, yet we won 90 games and made the playoffs. I'll take that any day.
  6. I'd rather still have LaPorta and the rest... So you would have rather not made the playoffs?
  7. Ugh. What a disappointing season. We made the playoffs. The postseason has sucked thus far, but there's no way you can call this season disappointing. We aren't the Yankees.
  8. Unfortunately, unlike Ed Hochuli, Mark Wegner doesn't have a website. Uke was surprised by the non-strike call, we were, so were the guys on TV. It's a shame that one call pretty much keeps the game out of reach so early.
  9. I just found out my buddy has an extra ticket to Game 3 and he said he'd give me them at face value. YES! That's the High Life, my friend.
  10. You have Myers' back against the wall. He walked three dudes that inning. Why on earth would he be thinking "let me swing at the first pitch!" Hart's plate discipline is maddening.
  11. NOW can we bash Corey Hart? Cripes.
  12. 1:30 pm: White Sox (Vazquez) at Rays (Shields) 8:30 pm: Dodgers (Billingsly) at Cubs (Zambrano) The Dodgers have an opportunity to bury the Chicago Cubs today, if they can capitalize on the recently-shaky Carlos Zambrano. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays play their first ever MLB playoff game. Go Dodgers and Rays!
  13. Living in southeast PA, the fans and the media are pretty much giving us the Bushville treatment and making no bones about looking past us to the NLCS. I've been reading a few articles from newspapers from the Philadelphia area, and I'm getting the same impression. It's strange, as the NLDS is a short series, and virtually any team could defeat another in a five-game series. Heck, the Nationals or Mariners could beat the Phillies in a 5-game series. If not for 1980, the Philadelphia Phillies would be in the same boat as the Chicago Cubs. In fact, the entire city has been suffering for awhile. The city hasn't won a title in any sport since 1983. It just kills me that three teams from Philadelphia will have stabbed the collective hearts of Wisconsin sports fans in the past seven years: 76ers vs. Bucks; Packers vs. Eagles; and, assuming the Brewers lose, Brewers vs. Phillies. But, for the record, the sausage race parody is kind of funny. We'll earn some respect if we win tonight.
  14. It doesn't help when Dale Sveum addresses his team for the first time after Ned gets canned and tells them he doesn't care what pitches they swing at even if it's in the dirt. I think Dale was just trying to be a calming/relaxing influence after Ned was dismissed. It would have been futile to try to tinker with their plate approach with only two weeks remaining. For next year, though, it's a serious issue that Melvin needs to address.
  15. Yes, Weeks was yanked because there was a double switch. I'd assume the overwhelming majority of people on this board understand why it's made. The original poster raises an important question: How long are the Brewers going to wait for Rickie Weeks? I've had it with him. I don't believe the Brewers would fare well in a trade involved Weeks, but his defense is unacceptable. As far his hitting ... who knows about his wrist? He should definitely NOT be leading off for the Brewers next season.
  16. I really wish I could stream Bob and Jim online...
  17. 1. Brewers 2. Rays 3. Dodgers 4. Phillies (Philadelphia hasn't won a title since the Sixers in 1983!) 5. Angels 6. White Sox 7. Red Sox 8. Cubs (A WS game at Wrigley would be sight, though) I'd enjoy watching the Cubs lose a World Series clincher at Wrigley Field.
  18. From the Baseball Prospectus preview... Rivera is merely ornamental, and should even the most minor foreign dignitary pass away during this series, he'll likely be excused to attend the funeral on behalf of the Brewers. They also give us the edge in the NLDS: http://www.baseballprospe...istics/postseasonodds.php Without Burrell, this game is looking a lot better. If he's out tomorrow, I really like our chances. Let's hope Yovani's PC stays low because I'm terrified to rely on Torres, Gagne, and Mota.
  19. Has anyone started a playoff beard yet? Shaved it yesterday. I promised myself at the end of the Reds series that I wouldn't shave until the regular season was over. Hope I didn't jinx them...
  20. LDS Red Sox over Angels (3-1) Rays over White Sox (3-0) Cubs over Dodgers (3-2) Brewers over Phillies (3-1) LCS Cubs over Brewers (4-2) Rays over Red Sox (4-3) WS Rays over Cubs (4-1) -Gallardo and Sabathia turn in two incredible pitching performances in games 1 and 2, and the fans are downright giddy as the Brewers return to Miller Park with a 2-0 series lead. Suppan and Gagne are the goats in a game 3 Phillies blowout. Dave Bush and Seth McClung combine to give up four HRs in game 4, but Rickie Weeks hits a pivotal grand slam in the bottom of the 8th to lead the Brewers to a gut-wrenching series clincher late Sunday night. -Cubs sweat out their series against the Dodgers, but destroy the Dodgers in Game 5. -Home teams win every game of the ALCS. -Fittingly, the Brewers lose Game 6 of the NLCS on a walk-off homer. -Rays find comfort at the Trop, and take the Cubs pitching staff deep all series long.
  21. MVP Will win: Pujols and Pedroia Should win: Pujols and Sizemore (Quentin if he doesn't get injured) Cy Young Will win: Webb and Lee Should win: Lincecum and Lee It's really tempting to pick CC Sabathia. If he had won all of his starts or had been in the NL a month earlier, he probably wins the MVP. I hope he wins.
  22. Works perfectly for me. I'm done with class by 1:50 tomorrow, so I'll race to a television, try to distance myself from Cubs fans, and lock myself in a room until the game is over, next to a computer. I'm golden on Thursday, too. I took off all potential Brewers playoff dates, through the World Series. There's no way I'm missing this party!
  23. 60% chance of rain for Wednesday. Maybe a chance the game is pushed into the night? I don't like the idea of Gallardo pitching in wet conditions. http://www.weather.com/ou...1276?dayNum=2 I really hope Jenkins gets an at bat in this series When he's introduced with the entire Philadelphia roster Saturday, can we please not boo him?
  24. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/a...08news&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Attendance figure from this article. Could very well have been more than 14188 as people didn't have to walk through the turnstiles after 6:30ish, IIRC. Note the brewerfan.net reference in the article, too.
