I'm pretty sure that Kohl announced he wouldn't run for another term. So, his term expires January 2013? The prospect of a new arena excites me. I know I'm looking down the road, but Marquette and the Bucks would come close to selling out every game, and the Admirals would likely be included in the picture, too. Definitely would be a fun atmosphere... -
Thank you, Jim. You indeed are a premier broadcaster (I would know -- I have XM), and congratulations on taking advantage of an incredible opportunity. I've spent countless hours over the years listening to you paint a picture of a baseball game with words, and it's been a joy. I'll be listening on XM this spring, but it won't be without a twinge of sadness. Good luck in Georgia and with the rest of your career; I'll always be a JP fan!

The Brewers website also indicated two ESPN weekday games: May 26: vs. Cardinals (Tuesday -- avoids conflict with NBA Playoffs) June 15: @ Indians (Monday)

The prospect of the Bucks leaving scares me to death, but remember that the Sonics had/have an owner who desperately wanted to move to OKC. That, and David Stern had his heart set on OKC. I really don't know where the Bucks would move, maybe Las Vegas, but the NBA soured on Vegas after the problems at the All-Star game in 2007. I think it's going to be awhile until this issue becomes pressing. In the meantime, blow. it. up. -

It's disappointing that the next three games are certainly winnable (MIN, @IND, @TOR), and likely both Redd and Bogut will sit. I know it's been said, but this hurts his trade value, obviously, and all but keeps us out of the postseason. I could swear that the Bucks have been cursed since June 3, 2001. Poor managerial decisions and ridiculously poor luck. Ugh. The 2002 collapse was a 3.5 month train wreck, and was so painful to watch. But I digress... I was on the playoff bandwagon, and looking forward to some semi-meaningful play down the stretch. Looking forward to an RJ trade in the near future. -

I paid $9 per ticket for lower level seats behind the basket for the March 18 game vs. the Magic on Stubhub. That's a great place to find deals on Bucks tickets.

The fact is that ratings for baseball nationally are horrible in part because fans are smart enough to know the game isn't played on a level playing field As others have said, there are limitless options for television watchers nowadays. Ratings are down for virtually every sport, except the NFL. But, if TV ratings are suffering because of the lack of parity, why does MLB seemingly break its own attendance record every season?

Unfortunately, this sport now has a tremendous way of completely detroying the morale by treating certain markets as second-class citizens. I would argue that the NBA does this more than MLB. If you're a "small market" team, and you field a poor team, you're basically forgotten about -- much more so than MLB. And that mentality in the NBA starts at the way top from David Stern. Also, it's not fair to completely blame the system for the long-term incompetence of some organizations. Look at the Orioles and Peter Angelos, the Brewers and Wendy, and the current unrest in the Padres organization. Maybe MLB could divide revenue from FOX, ESPN, and Turner in a way to give more revenue to teams with smaller TV/radio contracts. IMO, that's a huge part of the imbalance, and channelling the national media $$ to the poorer clubs would be a start to fixing the problem. A salary cap isn't the answer. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching the NFL, but the ridiculous amount of vanilla teams bores me. I enjoy the free market-ness of MLB, but more revenue sharing AND a restriction on signing multiple Type A free agents would help to make the playing field fairer.

I don't see how anybody who loves this sport could possibly cheer for the Yankees. I've never been a proponent of a salary cap, but this signing is starting to change my feelings. Let's take solace in the fact that the Yankees play in the toughest division in the game -- they can try to buy a championship(s), but it's never a sure thing. If Cashman really wanted the Brewers to throw in some cash to pay for Mike Cameron, he can go pound sand, for lack of stronger language. I hope their new Taj Mahal is cursed.

Did CC pitch any games in Milwaukee that weren't a sell out? The September games against the Reds and Pirates were not sellouts, iirc.

There's only so much they could have done in 30 minutes, but they failed to focus on the season-defining moments and games that made this season so enjoyable. Every season has its peaks and valleys, and I wish the DVD focused on more specific games/moments from the 2008 season. Here are several that I wished they would have touched on: 1) Gagne's debut at Wrigley 2) Russell Branyan, anyone? 3) Bush's near no-hitter, and the near collapse vs. Toronto 4) Sabathia's 2nd start 5) Peavy-Sheets duel on Sept. 6 6) Torres' Wrigley Field meltdown I'm glad the Brewers produced this DVD for the fans, but I didn't need Dennis Krause (who I happen to like, btw) and Doug Russell (who likely has less knowledge about the Brewers than you and I) to recapitulate the ride for me.

While I think his suspension was a culmination of a series of incidents, Bettman went overboard. Young men occasionally talk like that amongst their friends, so I doubt anybody could be truly shocked and horrified. I also thought it was funny. Avery is a turd, but it's not like he did anything violent. This reminds me of when David Stern threatened to kick Jeff Van Gundy out of the NBA for his comments about the referees -- a total overreaction, but it hit somebody's soft spot.

I don't have a link or anything, but I believe the conventional wisdom is that sports is one of the last luxuries that people surrender during tough economic times. People say attendance was down in 2008, but they forgot that the Cubs-Astros series MP put a significant dent in that figure, as did several rainouts.

I'm disappointed that CC didn't re-up here, but nobody can pass up an additional $61 million. I have little doubt that CC still has a little spot in his heart for Milwaukee. /sentimental Having CC helps the Yankees, but as obsessedwithbrewcrew alludes to, a playoff spot is far from a sure bet for them. Boston and Tampa Bay are both powerhouses. Let's not forget that the Blue Jays won 86 games last year, too. The competition gets significantly tougher for him: remember, he faced San Diego twice, Pittsburgh three times, the Nationals, and the post-Dunn/Griffey Reds a couple times. Keep in mind that even the Orioles have some solid hitters in their lineup. It's more than likely we'll see Sabathia at Yankee Stadium, perhaps in 2010 or 2011. It should be interesting to see if he's peaked already, or if he has more glory days ahead of him. Rarely do great QB, RB, or WR ever make free agency. Who was the last very good QB to hit free agency because a team could not afford him? FWIW, Drew Brees signed with the Saints as a FA prior to 2006.

You can still get as many breadsticks as you want, but you have to go to the counter to get them. My friend ate so many breadsticks at Fazoli's once that they cut him off. So, they aren't exactly unlimited. I once tried the pizza at Fazoli's... never again. It was cold and the sauce tasted funky. Also, I recommend avoiding any Roy Rodgers locations on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. If you order the staples at McD's (burgers, fries, McNuggets, etc), it hits the spot. I also look forward to my late night visits to the Taco Bell drive thru. I rarely order anything I haven't ordered before at a fast food joint. I already know what tastes good. If I'm going to abuse my body, I might as well make sure I enjoy myself. -
FWIW, there are more music channels. I like the new Alt Nation (ch 47) format -- it seems like they're playing newer music. I also like the addition of the NBA package, but there's no way I'd pay $4.95/month for the NFL package for only 6 hours of football per week. I'm keeping my satellite radio as long as I live in Milwaukee. I challenge somebody to find a market as large as Milwaukee with worse FM radio stations.

I've lost interest in autograph and memorabilia collecting, but this is a wonderful place for exchanging tickets. I purchased a pair of NLDS tickets from lcbj68c a couple of hours before the game, as a last ditch effort to get my parents into the game. Also had a flawless exchange of Cubs/Brewers tickets with Blancofan1. I have no reservations about trading tickets with fellow fans who are so passionate about the Brewers. As a first time STH in 2009, I look forward to many more good experiences! -
I have XM Radio, and I have yet to hear a better P-B-P radio announcer in any sport. He describes the game beautifully. IMO, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better radio crew in pro sports.

A. Yes, yes, yes. I want it to be dramatic, though. B. Most Packers fans have experienced it. Almost experienced it 10 months ago. Enduring the MLB season is more satisfying. C. It's likely that things wouldn't turn out as expected. It would be cool ... but the WS is the safer option. D. You'd have to be glued to your couch to choose this option. E. I can't fathom a world with total peace. And how would you define world peace? A.
