  1. This isn't statistically relevant, important, scientific. It's not intended to prove a point. I do realize the save statistic is worthless and should cease to exist. Just a rant: Instances when the Brewers have blown another team's save opportunity in 9th inning and WON: May 1: @ Cubs May 9: Cardinals July 24: @ Cardinals Instances when the Brewers have blown a save opportunity in 9th inning and LOST: April 20: @ Reds May 4: @ Astros May 14: Dodgers July 3: @ Diamondbacks September 8: Reds September 18: @ Cubs
  2. The horror of the NFC Championship game was over in about 20 minutes. There's no doubt the game was legendary, but I healed quickly. This has been a monthlong trainwreck, with a new heartbreak each and everyday. Today was the zenith. In baseball, it doesn't get worse. It's tops on the list because it seemed like a sure thing at the end of last month. But the backend of the 2001 Eastern Conference Finals is a close second -- the NBA has been dead to me ever since.
  3. I'll give it one more day. If we lose another game in the standings tomorrow night (-2.5), then it might be over. That precludes a great homestand, and a decent chokejob by the Mets. I honestly didn't think we'd have to "hope for the unlikely/improbable" just to qualify for the playoffs during the final week of the season.
  4. I'm done watching the Brewers this year, at the very least. I admire your courage and self-control. I'll be back tomorrow night for some more abuse. And the next day, and the day after that, and the day after that, etc. It's going to be a long, cold winter.
  5. Dale was probably worried about Rivera striking out. I hope a lesson was learned, but probably not. This is worse than the Cordero in Texas game last June.
  6. Redemption is spelled: H-A-R-T
  7. I've lost ten pounds in the last hour, I could swear.
  8. WOW! That was terrible umpiring! You just can't make yourself bigger than the game -- I don't care what he says.
  9. Who the hell did we sign to put in Seth McClung's uniform? Don't speak too soon. I say Soto hits one out. It just makes sense.
  10. That's a very questionable call.
  11. I thought June 29, 2007 was one of my worst days as a Brewer fan (Ramirez walk-off). Boy, this one stomps all over it. Even if we win, I'll still be ticked.
  12. I hope this game doesn't cost us a playoff berth. We may remember this game for many, many years to come. I hate baseball.
  13. That's the THIRD bottom of the ninth HR chokejob in the past 15 months at Wrigley. I want to be mad and upset, but I'm just in shock.
  14. How can that happen twice in a season? We need to start looking at an alternative to Salomon Torres.
  15. You can't use Torres. It's not a save situation!!
  16. Gagne and Coffey? No problem.
  17. That was the most enjoyable half inning in about a month
  18. we drove him to 120ish pitches in 5 innings I can't believe we drove him to 120 pitches in 5 innings and have ONE hit to show for it.
  19. Harden has 60 pitches through three. If we can manage some plate disciple, considering they don't want to overexert Harden, maybe we can drive him early. But boy, Counsell, Kendall, Hart, and the pitcher have been nothing short of 4 automatic outs lately.
  20. 11 MPH from the ESE. I think that means the wind is blowing in. IIRC, Wrigley faces Lake Michigan, so the wind would have to be blowing the opposite direction, like chrisisoutrunning said.
  21. To the person sitting behind me in my class today: If you're going to cough non-stop for an hour, please don't even show up. Jeez.
  22. *Opening Day: vs. Cubs (Fri., 04/10) -I'm irritated with Opening Day vs. Chicago. I wonder if the Brewers brass will speak up about this. The thinking is that the Cubs will fuel attendance over Easter Weekend. *Interleague Series: CWS, @ CLE, @ DET (pretty lame -- third time in Detroit since 2000. The Brewers haven't played at SEA or NYY in the NL. The Brewers have never hosted OAK or TEX) *The series vs. Twins at MP is during the week. *Memorial Day & Labor Day at home vs. STL *8 games @ CHC (July, Sept); 9 games vs. CHC (April, May, Sept) *Season ends Oct. 2-4 at St. Louis
  23. FYI (from NSBB): -Fri-Sun, July 10-12: vs. Dodgers at Miller Park -Chicago White Sox to visit Miller Park.
  24. This was a very flawed team before the trade and that hasn't changed since. Agreed. This team is very flawed. I just believe it's better to make a move to improve your odds of making the postseason (and, thus, the World Series) rather than blowing the whole thing up. The move wasn't in the best long-term interest, but the franchise couldn't afford to take steps back.
  25. The math is no longer on our side. Guys, we're winning tomorrow. Marquis sucks, and we're due.
