  1. Anybody else going? It's expensive, but it's a novelty, so I decided to go Monday. If anyone wants to witness this bizarre sight, tomorrow night's game will be on WGN. There's an enormous demand for these tickets -- actually a virtual waiting room!
  2. $25-60 for tickets Houston either wanted to maximize their revenue or the Brewers wanted to gauge Cubs fans. Fun fact: This will be the first baseball game ever played on a Sunday night at Miller Park.
  3. This is baffling. Wow Is he trying to lose!?
  4. The Mets losing to the Braves can't be a bad thing for us. I keep telling myself ... there's no way they can collapse again.
  5. There's absolutely no accountabilities for these jokers. The umpires suck.
  6. I still fail to see how a team playing 9+ games over .500 could be considered a collapse. September isn't going too well. Wasn't the lead like 5 games on September 1? Sure, they played well in July and August, but it looks like they're completely folding this month. I don't know how that can't be considered a collapse.
  7. What if, the three games that are played in Milwaukee end up being a Cubs sweep where instead let's just suppose the games played in Houston(or somewhere closer then Milwaukee) would end up being an Astros sweep?? We need the Astros to lose. The Brewers need to do whatever they can to ensure themselves of a postseason berth. The alternative may just be playing this series on Sept 29 and 30, with the Cubs resting players. That doesn't bode well for the Brewers. I couldn't care less whether the Cubs win or lose. We should be cheering for a situation which gives a disadvantage to the Astros.
  8. It appears like it's taking too long for Bud to make a decision. McLane really wants his games played at MMP, but how many fans are going to show up? There are pictures on NSBB of a highrise near MMP -- glass windows completely blown out and debris on the streets. Who knows if the Astros can get out of Houston if they decide to play in Houston? If the games are played in Houston, how long is it going to take for the Cubs to get down there? If they decide to push multiple games to the end of the season, it could be disasterous for the Brewers. The Cubs would have already clinched, and playing a bunch of minor leaguers. Who knows? Houston doesn't look too good -- the Houston Texans stadium has sustained serious roof damage, so it's in the best interest of everybody to make a decision ASAP.
  9. Hey ... the Cardinals E# went down tonight! And an additional day off wouldn't kill Manny Parra.
  10. Anyone who boos for the team they "support" for anything other than lack of effort is an idiot. I'm no booer ... but isn't that kind of extreme? If Bill Hall were to K 10 AB in a row, or if Gagne were to give up three consecutive homers, are all of the booers a bunch of drunken idiots? I know there are a ton of those, and a ton of uneducated baseball fans who don't understand that the game is based on failure, but somebody booing one time to express frustration doesn't necessarily make he/she an idiot.
  11. That report was published over 24 hours ago. It's very possible that other options (Arlington, TX, Atlanta, etc.) were not a possibility and Milwaukee was the only viable option.
  12. I heard that Yost told BA that Sabathia would NOT pitch Monday in the event of a postponement. I don't know the specifics, but there's a chance there'd be no TV coverage for the second half of the DH on Sunday. It's too bad that we just can't skip these games altogether.
  13. So are we talking about a day/night DH on Sunday and then a day game on Monday? lcbj68c is in the loop, but I'd have to think Sunday would include a single-admission DH. Awesome ... hopefully ticketing opens to the general public!
  14. Unless we win, that magic ain't budging until Sunday. Manny Parra: please, please, please pitch well.
  15. The results are in: Cubs @ Brewers Brewers @ Cardinals Brewers @ Phillies Brewers @ Astros This could be a very real possibility on Sept. 29 http://milwaukee.brewers....ws_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  16. What I hate more than anything is the booing of the intentional walk: a.) You get a free runner! b.) Can the other team try their best to win the game, too? I'm not a booer myself -- I'd prefer to bite my fingernails. It doesn't make me feel better. However, I did shout "you suck" in the direction of Rickie Weeks on Tuesday night. That's about as vocal as I'll get. I do wish, however, that our fans would grasp a better understanding of the game. Sometimes blown saves happen -- they feel terrible, but that's the way baseball works. It was alluded to earlier in the thread that our fanbase boos because we're so unconditioned to any type of success. We're just a doomy and gloomy bunch, waiting for the worst to happen. Once we've tasted a playoff game or two, I think the booing will stop. During the playoffs (if it should happen), the drunks won't be around, so I don't think we'll hear any booing. If this team is successful, this city will fully embrace its players; not like Boston, which still wants Gagne's blood, even though their team won the whole thing -- that's true classlessness. If you visited Fenway Park in May, you know what I mean. As for Corey's comments, they were unnecessary. It bothers me -- I wish they would toughen up, and not let the booing bother them. If you make the postseason, we promise we'll lighten up a bit and embrace all of you!
  17. At one time I actually thought this team was as good as the Cubs, Rays, Angels, Red Sox, etc. That was crazy! We can't catch a break, can we? I have no confidence in our pitching the next three days ... we're going to cough this thing up. Unreal.
  18. This series is similar to the Cardinals series in August. We just have to tread water for four days. Commence fingernail biting.
  19. I'd be just fine with Moyer pitching two days in a row http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. If we win Thursday and Friday, I suspect this place will be just giddy. I'll say wins on Thursday and Sunday. Suppan will have a fine start on Sunday, and the bats will come alive tomorrow night (a 9-4 victory). Parra will struggle on Friday and the Brewers will get blown out on Saturday. Needless to say, I'm very nervous, but cautiously optimistic.
  20. The bottom third of our lineup is a black hole of suck. Please stop the bleeding.
  21. This team is going to have a stellar roadtrip. 7-3 ... book it
  22. Their playoff odds did drop 7% last night -- obviously, if things go right tonight, that means nothing, but it's enough to make me quite nervous. Every win/loss causes a great fluctuation in that number. I guess we just reallyt do have to look at the picture -- but a win or two would make that easier.
  23. I'm just hoping for one of the Phillies or Mets to flounder down the stretch ... these two teams have really been playing well for awhile. The Brewers have to outplay only one of them. I think it'll take 91-92 wins.
  24. I've been an avid supporter of the Milwaukee Brewers for as long as I can remember -- when it wasn't cool to be a Brewers fan, I was still watching this team, attending games, etc. At the beginning of the 2005 season, I felt like this franchise was on an upswing -- and 2008 was the climax year. I could live with what happened in 2007 -- I didn't feel like that team had the pitching to get the job done. And it provided the fanbase with a treasured taste of success. We're currently immersed in this "climax year." The Sabathia trade, play of Ryan Braun, sweep in St. Louis, sellout streak, etc. have provided for a helluva year. But I can't handle another collapse; I let my guard down in a big way. If they fail again, I know I can't invest the time, money, energy, passion, etc. in a 2009 season that simply doesn't look as good with a lesser rotation, and three potentially very strong division foes. The general population is extremely excited about the Brewers. After the Sabathia trade and the bolstering of the record, I think most expect and demand a postseason run -- this is why I was upset after Melvin didn't acquire another arm for the BP by the deadline. Honestly, if this doesn't work out, I see a great deal of the fanbase, including many of us on brewerfan.net, who will be just plain burned out. I expect season ticket sales/renewals to decline -- I've heard posters here say the same thing. I don't blame them -- I won't be attending as many games next year if they screw this up! This is a monumentally important year for the Brewers ... if they fail, I foresee the "Same old Brewers" mentality returning around here. Interest will decline. Now's the year, Brewer fans!
  25. The did the same thing with the release of the Indiana Jones movie on May 22. It's better than putting the advertisements on the bases (anyone, remember?)!
