  1. Our two 9-packs came over the weekend. Including the parking passes, and tiks for the last game of the season against the Cubs.
  2. I thought Yost wasn't concerned, but now it sounds like he is with Weeks. I think being sidelined for a few days may be good for Weeks with the bat at least. I am concerned however, with his glovework. It still may end up being that Craig Counsell is inserted late in the game to replace a stick for a glove like we were trying to avoid by moving Braun to the outfield.
  3. I am so glad that this is true, because Rickie Weeks has struck out three more times again. I wonder if he is specifically trying to work on his "batters eye" by getting himself in bad counts to work on his plate discipline? This wouldn't be as much fun as just swinging away!!!
  4. Tom Haudricourt has it on his blog now too, however, I am confused. If you read the first paragraph, is he saying that if Cameron gets to use banned stimulants for medical reasons, will it remove his suspension? Is that what this is about? I don't think so, as what was done is done. The blog entry is a bit deceiving, possibly....
  5. Not that I advocate trading Gross, but back on topic, Jim Edmonds is getting an MRI done on his ailing calf, according to MLB.com. Bud Black seems a bit concerned, so I wonder if they might be back on the search for an extra outfielder?
  6. http://freemeeting.1.baseball.sportsline.com/news/10686281 Here is the actual link for the CBS sportsline article. It was a little slow, but it finally worked.
  7. But if walked, Votto and Dunn types, certainly will clog the bases, which isn't good!!!
  8. CBS Sportsline take on Capuano. More fodder for what we are talking about. EDIT- Other interesting comments in the article about Suppan, Torres, and Gagne
  9. From the "chicky" baseball movie "Fever Pitch", when you opened your ticket package, did they have a smell of a winner? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Regarding Capuano, is there a website out there that archives the game day info like you get on mlb.com about what kind of pitch was thrown and the speed of the pitch for all the games in a season? I am curious to check these over to see if indeed Capuano was only throwing it up there in the lower 80's as has been suggested in this thread as well as in another thread. I would be curious to see if this is indeed true, as I know some of you have heard that Cappy's velocity was down, but I don't remember Yost, Maddux, Cappy, Uecker, Powell, or anyone else make these comments during the season last year. Does anyone know?
  11. Regarding Parra and his limited innings that he has thrown on the higher levels of baseball, I believe he is a candidate for starting the season in AAA as discussed to keep his arm stretched out for a month or so, but not too long down in Nashville. I would think he could throw maybe 165-170 innings max this year, so hopefully he doesn't burn 100+ down in Nashville. When they call him up they could put him in the bullpen as a long man, again getting him into some action, but not too much, until they decide mid season to throw him in the rotation permanently, thus injecting a live arm into the rotation in the heart of the race. They did this to Yo last season, when they called him up and rested him in the bullpen for a short while. You just can't run Parra out there in April every 5 days and "Dusty Baker" Parra's arm like Kerry Wood, specifically if Yo and Parra are the future stoppers of the rotation if indeed Sheets leaves in the near future.
  12. JBriggs, I agree that this stinks regarding the schedule, but I think it may be more even than that. Would you agree that the D-Rays may be better than Baltimore? We play Baltimore. Both teams play Toronto. Then it comes down to the Santana/Liriano-less Twins versus the Whitesox as the other Interleague games that they play. I think the White Sox are better than the Twins will be this year given the Twins seem to be rebuilding. With that said, the Red Sox are a tough competitor for the Crew, but if you factor in what should be an easier set of games for the Crew in Baltimore and the home and away Twins, I think we are closer to even.
  13. Sparky and Tim Allen are discussing this thread on WSSP 1250 AM right now. FYI
  14. What is the over/under on the scouts in attendance to watch Blanton pitch? What is the over/under on the scouts in attendance to watch Vargas pitch?
  15. Melvin has stated anyone can save 30 games, in a given season, it is the next 10 that is tough. I'd still rather win more games 6-2, 8-4, than having too many 3-2 games, etc.
  16. Thanks alot for the info. It looked like I was ok in Cedarburg from some of the maps I was reading. To me the whole point of getting Extra Innings is see the Cubs/Reds/Stros play but being close to Chicago, I was concerned we would get blacked out of some of the Comcast games, etc. So what is this extra DirecTV "Super Fan" package about?
  17. Simple question I hope- I live in Cedarburg, WI and I am thinking of getting the MLB Extra Innings package. Will the Cubs broadcasts on Comcast, WGN, or whatever ever be blacked out? After watching the Brewers or between the commercials it would be fun to check in on the competition of the rest of the teams in the division, specifically the north siders. Anyone from Milwaukee know the answer? EDIT- I have Directv by the way.
  18. Ender, I am mostly just reading on the outside on this one, but are you strongly suggesting in Capuano that there some correlation between has groin pull injury (in Detroit I believe) and his struggles the rest of the year, specifically with a loss of velocity? The pre-injury stats you posted are draw dropping compared to the post injury stats. I know he struggled some in those eight starts after that great 5-0 beginning , but to be that bad after his return from injury, could a drop in velocity be plausible as a reason he was being lit up like a Christmas tree? I don't recall reading anything about that at all or Yost/Maddux/Capuano complaining about poor velocity, but rather it was always, poor location, etc, etc. Just wondering if there is something out there that maybe proves that Capuano lost a bit on the fastball (post injury), and thus those mistakes that he made before and getting away with, were now being hit hard someplace. I suppose a pulled groin could affect the push off leg or the land leg and result in Cappy babying it a bit unconsciously and thus taking a bit off the old #1 heater.
  19. No doubt. I don't see why these people, just don't go to work for the three days instead of sitting there drinking Sambuca and Miller Lite, and use the pay for the 3 days to buy your nine-pack awhile ago when opening day was included. I can see for one night having a party with your buds, (I am 32 now, and maybe 10 years ago, I may have done that but not now) but 3 cold nights is ridiculous.
  20. I just buy all the parking in advance for the $8 that they charge. For the whole season for that matter.
  21. Milltown, Doug Melvin said exactly what you just said too last week in one of his interviews on WTMJ- when you compare Bush's stats to Blanton's. I think that is why I think Bush is a shoe-in for the rotation if you can read between the lines of what Melvin is saying. I agree Blanton is a nice pitcher, but giving up a Votto would be overpaying.
  22. So how many flowery stories is that now on the 2008 NL Central Division winning Chicago Cubs? 3, 4, 5? You would think Kosuke Fukudome is the next Willy Mays or something. I am hoping for a Kaz Matsui- New York Mets debut style flop- obviously they are different players, but I think you get the drift. I can't honestly believe that the Cub fans really think that this will be a cake walk for them to the NL Central title, considering the very talented youth in Brewer Blue. They have the experience, but again it is a much older than Milwaukee's version. I think they are a barking Zambrano arm, and a locked-up ARam back away from a third place finish, even with the "Kosuke Willy Mays Never Played a game in MLB Fukudome" as a savior. I bet Corey Hart outproduces Mr. Fukudome this year. Ok that is my rah, rah speech!! Go Crew!
  23. Doug Melvin was on WTMJ this morning. Not too much discussed of major substance but he said he liked the team and should win the division. - A few guys need to improve/turnaround for a division title (Capuano specifically mentioned) - He said the staff and him have taken the rotation and compared it from starter #5 down to start#1 (reverse order) and the Brewers can compete with any other team out there, even though they may not have a Cy Young caliber pitcher at the top. - He kind of said between the lines that Ned won't have to be worrying about platoons and late game decisions much (the roster was Ned proofed!) in that the guys that they have are all regular players (Braun, Cameron, Hart (specifically mentioned that he obviously earned a starters role full time)). - Again likes Kendall for OBP potential and the "handling of the staff" - Spring training will help decide a #5 rotation spot and the slotting of the bullpen rotation (7th inning guys, 8th inning guys, and Gagne as closer)
  24. Good comments, the author was implicating that the Red Sox may need a "6th starter" type because in fact they are well covered as mentioned in the 1-5 spots in the rotation and also free agency isn't going to help them much at all at this point. Capuano and Bush aren't 6th starter types to the Brewers but they are considered such only because of the log jam we have of 4-5 starters currently on the roster. Vargas is a 6th Starter in my opinion. He is a guy you don't want to start considering our other options in Bush and Cappy are better. I wonder if maybe the Red Sox are willing to afford some rotation depth by keeping an arby starter at arby dollars on their roster and offload some young relief help to the Crew?? A catching prospect?
  25. It seems as if the Schilling signing of $8 million wasn't that good of an idea after all: Schilling has a serious shoulder injury With that said, what do you Brewerfan.netters want from the Redsox for one of Bush, Capuano, or in my opinion Vargas?
