  1. No, Brian, Walker did not sign with the Mets as a free agent. He was traded to them for Jon Niese. Do a two second Google search before talking. It isn't hard.
  2. So Bill would rather have 0 runs and 1 out with no guarantee of a run than 1 rum and 2 outs?
  3. Every ballpark is basically the same. The thing that separates them are things like the view or the setting.
  4. Braun for Puig, McCarthy and whatever prospects we would've gotten is looking like a steal right now.
  5. The Yankees just played a road series against the Rays in Queens. Funny how that was never brought up.
  6. Yeah, I honestly don't remember a lot of it. I haven't been there in probably 20 years. I remember the fountains in the park and we always loved going to Hardee's because they had a big ball pit we could play in and we would always go to Evans which was a jack of all trades store I think with a decent selection of toys. Sadly the Hardee's was torn down and is now a Family Video. The owners of Evan's retired and closed it (although the ones in Sheboygan Falls and Kewaunee? are still open) and it's a thrift store. The fountains are still here though! Well, 1 out of 3 ain't bad.

  8. Do you remember where in town that was? Hawthorne I think? I know it's West of the West Twin and close to the lake.
  9. I missed it. Where? Is it Two Rivers? Is that why they were talking about the East Twin and West Twin Rivers? Ya, Tippy's in Two Rivers. They didn't know what the two rivers were. Surprising since it seems like Rock knows everything about Wisconsin geography. My mom is from there and I was born there but we moved when I was 2. The only thing I know from there is my mom telling me I dropped my rattle in the West Twin River and some fishermen got it and brought it back to me. My mom and her sister went back there this summer and took a picture in front of the house they grew up in. The kids who live there now we're just coming back home and we're freaked out when they saw two women just standing in front of their house.

  11. Listening to the two idiots on TV and you'd think Jordy Mercer is Mike Trout.
  12. CC... "typically..."
  13. [sarcasm]Starters going on 3 days rest typically works out really well.[/sarcasm]

    TJ Watt

So drafting for need instead of BPA? And had they drafted Watt would you say they are wasting the best years of Rodgers by not addressing their most obvious need? I'd just like TT to not draft complete scrubs like Randall and Rollins were last year, realize that he drafted complete scrubs and then compound that by taking a player at a position of need (because he sucked at drafting two players in the 1st and 2nd round a year before) over more talented players who also fit our system/fill a need.
  15. April 24th-June 10th is the weirdest schedule I've ever seen. 9 game road trip 5 game home stand 10 game road trip 10 game home stand 8 game road trip

  17. Trout was two years younger than Lutz when each was drafted and was posting a .960 OPS in AA at the same age Lutz is now (Lutz is old for a first year player out of high school.)
  18. LATEST: The 6'11" Koenig, 40th round pick, spurned a $100,000 (plus college costs) offer. I gotta question the advice he received on this one. You are going to pay (D2 scholarships are only 50% I believe) to go to school, receive d2 coaching, facilities, and terrible spring weather and limited offseason training options. Versus being handed $100000, free tuition fallback, professional coaching, facilities, Arizona weather, etc. I realize MiLB baseball is a grind but this one seems pretty easy to me. $100,000 signing bonus that gets immediately taxed at 34.5% knocks that down to $65,500 right off the bat. Add in a 3-4% agent fee and you're down another $3,000-$4,000. Add in rent, groceries and utilities and that knocks it down even further. The less than minimum wage you're making in the minors isn't going to make up for it so now you have to find a job in the offseason but that's probably difficult because who's hiring for only mid September to mid February? And if an employer is willing to let you work for only those 5 months, you're not making more than minimum wage there. Now multiply that by the number of years it takes to get to the majors. There's a very real chance he's in debt by the time he makes it to the majors if he even makes it at all. Now obviously he's going to be in debt in college too but it's not as simple as here's $100K, put that in the bank until you make the majors.
  19. Would it be out of possible/probable to play those games in Milwaukee? Would MLB have better options? No. They have to be played at a neutral site. There's something in the rules somewhere about that. Is there? Because the Rangers were going to host the Astros before they declined which wouldn't have been neutral. If there was some rule about that, it wouldn't have even been considered. These are the options St. Louis Baltimore Los Angeles Oakland Kansas City Chicago Pittsburgh Milwaukee Boston New York Toronto Seattle San Diego Texas Arizona I think you can eliminate every place in the Mountain or Pacific time zones as I doubt MLB wants either team travelling 2,000-3,000 miles to play the series. That already eliminates Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, San Diego and Arizona. I think if they can avoid it, they wouldn't want it in Milwaukee. Since it's pretty close to the end of the season I doubt they want the possibility of a rain out. So Toronto is probably the best option. I doubt the games are moved though. The series isn't for another 5 days and the damage in that link doesn't seem like it would be enough to outright move the games. The only thing to look at imo is what Hurricane Jose does. If that stays in the ocean and then travels up the coast like most models project, then I'm willing to bet the games are played in Miami. If it changes and manages to go towards Florida, then they have to move the games.

    TJ Watt

    I wanted Watt or Foster.
  21. It wasn't a punch but Lane took his forearm and jammed it into Adams' throat. It was a deserved ejection and Buck and Aikman were terrible today. That is a given when their lips were moving... I'm not even in the Buck and Aikman should never call Packers games camp or anything but that non-PI call in the 3rd in the end zone? Well before halftime Rodgers threw a pass about 30 yards downfield and underthrew it to Adams, Adams came back for the ball and the DB without looking back for the ball just ran over Adams, no call from the refs and no mention of the missed call from Buck or Aikman even after multiple replays (it was blatantly obvious in real time.)

  23. DFA Perez just so Counsell stops playing him so much.
