  1. I see maybe a 20% chance of advancing to the knockout stage. The good news is if they do advance to the knockout stage, they have a better chance of advancing to the quarters even though they would likely face Belgium who has some really good players (Hazard, Mignolet, Vertonghen, Miralles, Lukaku, Fellaini, Dembélé Benteke, Vermaelen).
  2. I certainly feel the opposite about the bullpen. There isn't one player currently likely to be in it with any kind of moderate to lengthy history of success aside from maybe Gorzelanny. Imo it could wind up being a strength just as easily as it could wind up being really bad. While true, I'm glad we appear to be throwing cheap guys against the wall to see who sticks than sticking millions of dollars into the bullpen for "proven" guys. We have no shortage of guys to turn to if some of the guys we have fail.
  3. Really hope at least one of them had their shirts tucked in and then started untucking them in the middle of the lecture.
  4. But he's only a slightly above average offensive player. Also gets caught stealing a lot. Any player with a .350 OBP is a good leadoff hitter. Slightly above average defensive skills Accurate sure. Cannon? Not even close. Geez, the way you described him you make him sound like a 5 tool player. No wonder why you're disappointed.
  5. Phillies sign Betancourt and release him in spring training. He is then signed by the Brewers. Phillies sign Nieves - To be continued
  6. Price won't be a FA until after the 2015 season. He will have 5 years of service time after 2014. Am I missing something? He's Super Two. He'll have 4 arbitration years instead of the normal 3.
  7. $73.55 million is committed to Ramirez, Weeks, Braun, Lohse, Gallardo, Gomez, Gorzelanny and Lucroy. Arbitration should be reasonable for Francisco and Estrada and then we have a bunch of near minimum guys like Henderson, Maldonado, Kintzler, Bianchi, Segura, Wooten, Davis, Peralta, Schafer, Figaro, Hand, Gennett and probably one or two more that I'm forgetting. So we're probably around $83 million right now.
  8. It's two years of Gallardo vs two years of Price and if the Rays can't afford the $16 million for Price, what makes you think they can afford the $11.25 million and possible $13 million for a completely inferior Gallardo?
  9. The Rays laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh then grab some kleenex because the raucous laughter has made them burst into tears and then they start laughing again.
  10. This pretty much sums up the trade. http://www.baseballnation.com/2013/12/2/5168738/tigers-doug-fister-trade-nationals-nonsense
  11. Robbie Ray, Taylor Jordan and Ian Krol among other names being mentioned. This is a terrible deal for the Tigers if those are the names involved.
  12. Official now What a horrendous trade for the Tigers. MLBTR link
  13. So you say that you expect him to have a .310-.320 OBP but don't understand why people don't want him batting higher than 7th? I don't care if he plays because he's cheap and we have no better options unless Weeks magically reverts to what he was a few years ago but he's not a very good hitter and once he stops being cheap/the team starts competing he's a player that you would be looking to replace.
  14. Expecting Gennett to hit .324 is ridiculous considering he hit .288 combined in the minors the last two years with an average OBP under .330 and a SLG% well under .400.
  15. Done deal if the Padres agree to it. Not sure they would though.
  16. Ehh, he was hurt and played through it before going on the DL. The main point of the article is right though, Braun would own the free agent market if he was on it this year, Biogenesis and all. Not Cano level ownage but he'd get $150 million at least over 6-8 years.
  17. The people who want him to tell all just want something else to talk about. Oh this is how he claims it happened, why it happened and when it happened but he already lied to us before so he's probably going to lie to us again. That's what the media wants, that's what gets ratings and that's why they want it to happen. It creates a story that they want to exist so they can help their ratings.
  18. Pretty much sums it up for me.
  19. He is a liar though. He will still be a liar in 2015. Just like everyone here is a liar, not to the same scale and most likely not to the public but I just can't get mad at someone for lying when I would do the exact same thing in that situation and I'm willing to bet everyone here would too. That's why there's the arbitration process, to lie to get the side to agree with you. Everyone else in that situation with millions of dollars and their reputation on the line would do the exact same thing.
  20. The Freese trade was amazing. First that they thought he went there on his own and not that he got traded and then using #trader instead of #traitor. It was awesome.
  21. We all saw how well that worked last year.
  22. Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, JJ Hardy, Yovanni Gallardo are all Brewers draft picks and All-Star MLB players. Weeks has overall been a disappointment but was a All-Star, as was Hart. It hasn't all been misses with the draft picks Really? Go back 8-10 years to prove that we're good at drafting when pretty much everyone associated with the draft back then has moved on?
  23. Who are they blocking? Taveras? Beltran is most likely leaving, so a spot opens up in right for him.
