  1. Even though it's only 6 games in, I love seeing Manchester United in the bottom half of the table.
  2. This win clinched 11th or 12th. Remember Toronto gets an extra pick for not signing Phil Bickford. If the Brewers win tomorrow they pick 12th, If the Brewers and Blue Jays lose they also pick 12th. They pick 11th if the Brewers lose and Blue Jays win.
  3. A 100+ RBI player with a good OBP is going to cost at least $100 million on the free agent market, Choo is going to cost about $100 million on the free agent market and an above average 2 hole hitter is going to cost what at least $50 million? So you're already at $250 million and probably over budget. And can't drive in 100? He did in 2010 and 2011, so you saying he can't obviously isn't true. The guy does the one thing every hitter should want to do, get on base and get on base a ton. I'll fill my lineup with 9 Joey Vottos and you can go find guys who "can drive in 100 runs", I'm guessing I'll outscore your team the vast majority of the time.
  4. It's always better to have a high pick. No matter what the sport. Having a higher pick adds to our bonus pool so we can spend more money, it protects our 1st in case we do something stupid and sign a free agent that requires giving up a draft pick.
  5. I want Aoki traded and even I wouldn't trade him for a reliever. How does that help the organization?
  6. Because he's one of the best hitters in the game. Seems simple enough.
  7. We're going to sweep this team, screw up our draft position and give the front office and ownership warm fuzzies and false hope about how good we could be next year.
  8. Think Nebraska is fairly likely to start a program. Badgers also applied to host two Frozen Fours from 2015-2018, one in Milwaukee and the other in Tampa.
  9. Listening to Thom Brennaman tout Phillips' MVP candidacy while getting on Votto for not driving in runs is both hilarious and embarrassing.
  10. That's more than just a big mistake. That is just monumental stupidity of the manager. Yes it's a small sample but it's that bad that it really tells you all you need to know about how Yost handles a bullpen.
  11. Shouse vs Burrell >>> Shouse vs Howard Sure he didn't have great bullpens to work with but Yost was an idiot with the bullpen.
  12. Yuni gets the start at 2nd today!
  13. They did in 2004. They got in trouble not because it's an "icon" but because of safety. I don't really care. The D'Backs were basically asking for it when they said don't do it imo.
  14. Hardy Weeks Fielder Braun Gallardo All were up at around the same time and we got 2 playoff appearances in 6 years and 1 series win. That's not exactly a sterling record of success.
  15. Are they talking about after this season? After this season it's a club option, after the 2014 season he's a free agent, no options either club or player.
  16. That's just father/daughter bonding that your wife just doesn't understand and that I hope to have with my future daughter(s) one day if I have one or more.
  17. I'm not suggesting building for a window. After the way it worked out for us nobody should be suggesting that.
  18. No team compares to Tampa right now because they constantly cycle talent once it gets old and expensive, partly because of their smarts and partly because of necessity in not being able to afford talent as they gain more service time. And I don't know how you can say with any certainty that the Nats strategy has failed. They won 98 last year, are 83-71 this year and have a bunch of core players that are 28 or younger (Strasburg, Gonzalez, Zimmermann, Zimmerman, Desmond, Rendon, Ramos and Harper). Their situation is far better than the one we're in, of course pretty much every team is in a better situation than the Brewers.
  19. I have a couple thoughts on this. 1. If you don't want it to happen, don't let them clinch on your home field. 2. Don't ask them not to do it. I could be completely wrong but if they didn't say anything to the Dodgers about asking them not to go in the pool what are the chances they would have even thought about going in the pool? Like I said, I could be completely wrong but it seems like they were asking for it by saying don't go in the pool.
  20. I would love to see Yuni scout. "This guy has great power but swings at everything."
  21. Brewers RF Norichika Aoki 2B Scooter Gennett C Jonathan Lucroy CF Carlos Gomez LF Khris Davis SS Jeff Bianchi 1B Sean Halton 3B Yuniesky Betancourt P Yovani Gallardo Cardinals 2B Matt Carpenter RF Carlos Beltran LF Matt Holliday 1B Matt Adams C Yadier Molina CF Jon Jay 3B David Freese SS Daniel Descalso P Lance Lynn Halton batting 7th in a lineup that includes Bianchi, Betancourt and a pitcher. You could make a legitimate case that Gallardo should bat 7th with that group of players.
  22. I said it a few months ago but that low ERA in Nashville when he's basically walking as many as he was striking out was the worst thing that could happen to Hellweg because everyone was going to look at his ERA and say "look how good he is!" when he's just not. I could deal with him walking everybody right now if he was striking some people out but he's striking out 2 batters per 9 innings. You almost have to try to be that bad.
  23. Actually, isn't the only reason Thornburg is back in the rotation is because Gorz got hurt? Thornburg was sent back to the bullpen when Gorz got healty. It made no difference to RRR that Thornburg was excellent in the rotation. RRR saw a vet ready to return and quickly delegated Thornburg to the bullpen. Made no sense then, and still makes no sense. If Gorz stayed healthy, I believe Thornburg would still be toiling in the bullpen. Gorzelanny got sent to the bullpen after he predictably sucked after a few good starts. Gorzelanny got hurt when he went back to the bullpen.
