  1. I wish I had recorded TBS postgame last night. The way the rule read, it seems like it should've been called fan interference.
  2. Or you could take a more conventional approach and stop giving them pitches they can crush 450 feet.
  3. I don't know what the ground rules are in Detroit but I can't imagine a fan reaching over the fence and taking away an opportunity for Reddick to make that catch is anything but fan interference. Of course it was called a homer, reviewed and upheld.
  4. Who saw McCann go off on the HP ump after calling a strike a strike against him?
  5. Starting Freddy Garcia in a must win playoff game is a lot like starting Jeff Suppan in a must win playoff game.
  6. I loved those trades for Byrd and Morneau. Filled needs on a team but didn't break the bank to acquire those players. They still have a ton of pieces in their farm system to make a move for someone like Stanton if they wanted to.

  8. [sarcasm]He can also play every other infield spot. I guarantee 29 other teams would love it if their starting first baseman could play all over the infield.[/sarcasm]

  10. Not really breaking news but C.B. Bucknor was terrible behind the plate last night in the Tigers/A's game.
  11. Not a chance this team finishes with less than 29 wins unless Ersan and Sanders miss big parts of the season.
  12. Yeah, I'll take my shot with a hard throwing Chris Withrow against an awful Jose Constanzo than put another runner on base and have Paco Rodriguez face Heyward. He completely screwed that up.
  13. Big bounce back by the Buccos and some alliteration as well.
  14. For a 90+ win team, this Braves team is just so unimpressive.
  15. If the Red Sox lose Ellsbury they'll probably just make Jackie Bradley Jr. the starter and sign a cheap, CF backup. And why would they trade Carp or Nava for Aoki? They both performed better than Aoki this year and they're under control for more than one year. That's taking a step back in production and in control of a player while also getting older.
  16. And again, obvious call missed and the arguments are taking longer than the replay would to get the call right.
  17. Guess we need to find someone else to get our adverbs from.
  18. So was it a joke what the Pirates were doing 2 or 3 or 4 years ago? What about the Athletics 2-6 years ago? Sometimes a team has to recognize that the best plan is to build a foundation, & not simply try to paper over the cracks from one year to the next & hope everything breaks in their favor. It doesn't impress me or make me feel grateful that a club will "put the best product on the field", if that product is a .500-ish club like the Brewers were, objectively, heading into 2013. [sarcasm]It was a huge joke when the Brewers did it from 2002-2005.[/sarcasm]
  19. For a call at 1st base or a call at home plate, how long does that take to see? We usually see it and can make a call on it in about a minute. The call in the play-in game last night on the trap takes less than a minute it was that obvious. The double play by Halton which he was called safe in takes less than a minute because it was that obvious. I also think you're overestimating how many close plays there are in a game. I think the max would probably be around 5 and I think that may be pushing it and I really don't think the replay of all of those would be 3-5 minutes. I think it would be 1-2 minutes tops. I still think they should have a 5th umpire in the press box of all the stadiums and when he looks at the replays and makes the decision the crew chief goes to the home dugout and gets a call on the phone on the decision.
  20. I completely agree with the point on this but in this case, I think he was just barely out. Tag was applied just before his left hand hit the base. It's one of my pet peeves so I went back to watch it numerous times. I just completely disagree with this. The right call should be made, period. So a game is 3 hours and 10 minutes instead of 3 hours? Big deal and a small price to pay for knowing the right call was made or at least looked at if there's no evidence to overturn it. The more replay, the better in my opinion.
  21. This is an out. And it was that obvious watching it live as well so the umps don't get the benefit of saying well you got to watch numerous slowed down replays. http://cdn3.sbnation.com/assets/3317281/badcall163_medium.gif
  22. That was like the infield fly in the Braves/Cardinals game last year, only worse.
  23. Replay can't get here soon enough. Anyone who's watching the battle for the 2nd wildcard knows what I'm talking about.
