  1. So what do they use exactly? His two major league at bats?
  2. You didn't post Gamel's projection? .279/.350/.436/.786 And Escobar's. .280/.353/.450/.803 Don't know where they got that Escobar projection from, but they have him at a 9.1 BB%, something he's never come close to accomplishing.
  3. Viciedo signed with the White Sox already.
  4. I hope not. I'd much rather have a couple of relievers like David Weathers and Brandon Lyon than K-Rod or Fuentes. Don't like spending big money on one bullpen pitcher.
  5. I wouldn't count on that. He played 143 and 150 games under Macha in 2005 and 2006. I like Brian's idea. Big time fastball for Morlan and pretty good control. He'd be a good gamble.
  6. Your point is what exactly? Before last year Cleveland was never mentioned as a team trying to acquire a Japanese player. Before Iwamura was signed, neither were the Rays.
  7. Cleveland signed a Japanese free agent as well I believe. Masahide Kobayashi or something like that.
  8. Link that he won't be offered arby? It doesn't even matter, because if we sign him or any other type A free agent now, we lose our pick.
  9. But we can't until we get CC's decision. We don't have the money to get CC and a closer. If CC signs elsewhere, then we will.
  10. Career .278/.343/.467 hitter. Branyan a career .234/.335/.491/.826 hitter vs righties and Hall a career .278/.355/.493/.848 hitter against lefties. I'd take the Branyan/Hall platoon plus the few million saved for a bullpen arm or something.
  11. Here's his career stats. More hits than innings pitched. I'd pass on him. He doesn't appear to be any better than Shouse and Stetter and will likely cost more.
  12. Why is the first minute a British guy talking about Milwaukee?
  13. Hall wasn't platooned the first two months of the season and yes, Branyan is better than Counsell, so yes.
  14. http://realgm.com/ One of the most active boards on the site.
  15. I think he could. A better option than Hart imo.
  16. Notre Dame and Ohio State were too.
  17. Link On the first part of the bolded paragraph. No wai! I thought you loved statistics! On the second part of the bolded paragraph. Sounds good to me, it would prevent unqualified voters like you from voting.
  18. I couldn't agree with you more. The staging is why I watch that show though. None of those kids are that clever to be coming up with off-the-cuff insults like that. I also enjoy watching Next, because some of the things said on the bus I find absolutely hilarious. Date My Mom is staged, I find that show funny as well.
  19. Who cares if he lost 7-8 mph on his fastball? If he throws his changeup from the same angle as his fastball then it really shouldn't matter. It's still going to fool the hitter whether the fastball is coming in at 94 or 86. Just for reference. The past four years the difference in mph between Hoffman's fastball and changeup has been between 11.2 and 11.5 mph. He's been between 84.6 and 86 mph on his fastball the past four years and 73.4 and 74.5 mph on his changeup. It's not like this is some new thing where he doesn't have a great fastball and hitters are eventually going to catch up to him. If they were going to figure out when his changeup was coming, they would've done it by now.
  20. Endaround - perhaps my #4 claim of Johnson is too low, but your #2 claim is off. I hope you realize Johnson just posted a 3.91 ERA this year and had a FIP of 3.76 so it wasn't like he was incredibly lucky to post that ERA. If the Brewers make him their #2 SP in 2009, there will be no playoffs in Milwaukee. Why make such a claim? We're assuming that Gallardo is replacing Sheets and coming close to matching his productivity and also hoping Parra can improve, even if it's just a little bit. Do you realize we were 49-40 before the Sabathia trade and 41-32 after it? Those are nearly identical winning percentages so it's not like we were terrible before Sabathia came. We were right in the playoff race with whichever pitcher you want to choose as our #2 starter behind Sheets last year, whether it be Bush, Parra, Suppan or McClung. Would you say that Randy Johnson is better than all of those pitchers? My point is being missed, focus on a younger top flight FA starter. That sounds great, but what do you plan on giving up? You're either going to have to give up someone like Fielder or Hardy from the major league club or a few top prospects like Gamel, Jeffress and Escobar from the minor league club. Teams just don't give young, cheap, good starting pitchers away.
  21. His career OBP is .321 and his career walk rate is worse than Hart's was this year. Maybe a minor league deal with a chance to earn a spot on the bench.
  22. Probably the $80-90 million range again. Payroll is the 25 man roster.
  23. Just thought I'd bump this back up and let everybody know that they're playing 'Sunglasses at Night' right now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
