  1. can we just have one free agent signing where we don't complain that the brewers didn't sign him? The market is the market. I do not think Stearns is intentionally overpaying people. He seems pretty savvy to me and knows how far he is willing to go and won't exceed it. Its an approach that I like and will work out in the long term.
  2. Not picking on you, but just an observation. people here and other places were complaining that we were going to be dropping payroll and "rebuilding" because the brewers weren't spending money and were dumping salary. Now that they are spending money and filling holes people are complaining that the are spending too much. It is alot, but with how the market has been I don't think its too far out of line.
  3. mlbtraderumors predicted 2/12 from the twins. so its atleast more than they thought.
  4. we are being told by beat writers that its close. the brewers or his agent hasn't said anything. I don't think we clearly know where they are in negotiations. i woudn't read much into the fact that this was reported 3 days ago and nothing has been official. I think the only thing that is clear is that the brewers are interested.
  5. No, because we wouldn't have a decent CF on the roster. and i can't see someone taking on that contract.
  6. I could easily come up with bigger wastes on the 40 (Deolis Guerra is the most obvious choice). I disagree though that he is a waste of a roster spot.
  7. well stated, but it just isn't here. The tone brewer fans take in other forums is very similar. I am not sure why it has happened. Its like the brewers have some sustained success and everyone looses their mind because they don't want the brewers to be bad again and is taking everything stated that they don't agree with personally. In the end its just a game. If the brewers lose 90 games or win the world series it really doesn't affect our everyday lives. Lets not be crappy to each other who come here just to talk about the team that we all love.
  8. agreed. seems like they have an ace and then 4 guys that you could plug in between 2-5, none of them distinguishing themselves from the others on a talent level. I hope Stearns can somehow get one more.
  9. doesn't look like brewers made any selections today https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2019-mlb-rule-5-draft-order-results-and-analysis/
  10. we just don't know. He has faced lesser competition in Korea, so its hard to compare. He wasn't very good in MLB, went to Korea and became their MVP. I think its worth the risk, but we don't know if he will succeed here or not.
  11. Ok, if it doesn’t work out, pretty sure the brewers can write off that salary and move on. This isn’t exactly the same financial risk as signing say Eric Gagne.
  12. This is why you need to do in Milwaukee. You can’t sign guys to 300 million dollar deals. This could be a dud, but you can move on without damaging the brewers long term payroll. The meh people are only meh because they haven’t heard of him (neither did I, but i hope he just figured it out in Korea and can help here. If he has a brewers career similar to Thames I think most of us will be happy.
  13. well its not Kohls fault. Kohls has been decent in recent year about their selection of brewers stuff. Obviously the brewers are trying to get all of the Christmas sales made in their team store and will start putting stuff out after the holidays. I went to the one in Menomonee Falls yesterday and just peeked in the sports department and they had all of the old logo stuff on clearance.
  14. the point is to get a prospect back in exchange for eating his salary.
  15. a friend of mine asked at name of the game when new gear would be available and was told that it’s exclusive to the team store until December. Didn’t tell me when in December. Nothing yet and the stuff online isn’t great unless you want a jersey. Seems like the brewers are wasting a golden opportunity to make some extra cash in the team store.
  16. I don't think he was misused. I think the utter decimation of the bullpen due to injuries and poor performance pushed him into a role he wasn't well suited for -- but given the state of the bullpen, he was the next man up for the job. thats sort of the same thing, he was pitching in a scenario that he was doomed to fail in. I really don't blame CC, but he was brought in to be a LOOGY to get tough lefties out and he ended up being a late inning reliever.
  17. to give a 31 year old with a pretty decent injury history 7/245 is risky to say the least.
  18. i have any many discussing with friends last season, I don't think he is bad, I think he was misued.
  19. Well, it's three batters, or the end of the inning. I could see him coming in in a situation where there's runners on base with two down, and a guy like Rizzo coming up. thanks I never saw clarity on that.
  20. i am a fan of Alex, but don't see a use for him with the 3 batter minimum rule anymore.
  21. If he is the 5th outfielder they could have done much worse.
  22. Lyles could be another Jeffress who for a while couldn’t pitch well unless he was a brewer. It’s a risk for Texas. 2/16 doesn’t kill you if it goes south. I may changing my attitude that they should have tried to match them
  23. Seems to work without fail. I am excited for a game, get the kids to sleep to watch the last quarter or half and the bucks have it completely under control. A great problem to have. Tonight is as impressive of a win as you can have in the nba
  24. It’s a huge risk for the rangers. Stearns has a price and wouldn’t go over it. He is going to get another starter or 2, let’s just relax. He was great here but if he signed with us and returned back to how he pitched with the pirates everyone would be criticizing Stearns.
