  1. not to pick on anyone, but this is why people are freaking out over the rule v draft, we are getting so used to instant knowledge that we cannot wait until April and see how the team looks and judge the offseason as a whole. We grade every trade within minutes. the brewers WILL sign some free agent relievers and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Scooter trade, maybe a Braun one too (less likely). lets reserve judgement until atleast pitchers and catchers report and see how they match up.
  2. would you rather have fowler for 5/82 or Heyward for 8/184 I think is the better question. he Is an elite defender for that contract is going to haunt the cubs. hindsight being 20/20 I am sure the cubs saved their money or gave Fowler a long term deal last offseason.
  3. How did it not come out he had one strike on him when we got him? That would have been nice to know
  4. Hard to believe that Giannis is second all time in triple doubles in bucks history and is only 1 behind Kareeem.
  5. i agree on your assessment, part of the joys of having a great farm system is you are going to lose some in the rule V draft, you can't protect everyone.
  6. my 2 cents: the rule V draft is very easy to get worked up over, because its been a relatively quiet off season, and fans want to discuss something, but in actuality there is a good chance that the draft results in a zero net loss. The brewers have had or lost a significant rule V draftee. Odds are that losing a 22 year old who is in low A ball is not going to hurt them at all.
  7. Caleb Smith | LHP Another unlikely success story, Smith defied expectations and pitched well as a starter between 2014 and 2015. He reached Trenton after two years in the rotation before returning to the bullpen in 2016. Despite improved peripherals, he didn’t blossom like the organization had hoped and he spend the year in Trenton. At this point, he’s a 24-year-old lefty reliever who isn’t particularly effective against left-handed hitters. Still, there’s a chance he gets picked up by a team hoping to find a useful swingman. source: http://www.pinstripealley.com/yankees-prospects-minor-leagues/2016/12/7/13849848/yankees-prospects-rule-5-draft-jake-cave-tyler-webb-cale-coshow-brady-lail yeah not too much to be excited over
  8. Tough to see Miguel Diaz go, a guy I had been legitimately excited about. do you really think a guy can jump from low A to the bigs and stay on the roster all season?
  9. this one puzzles me, what was washington thinking
  10. i like the ideas of teams switching off on round A and B, as well as international draft caps, i question though why its 6 and 8 and not 7 and 7, but thats very minor i guess....
  11. me too, i have been saying for 2 seasons that the brewers have done nothing to address their long term holes in the 2 corner IF positions. While this isn't a long term solution, its not a patch work solution that they have been doing since ARAM was traded.
  12. mlb pipeline: Pennington - 22 Dubon - 12 I like Shaw coming back, finally someone at 3rd. Allows Villar to stay at 2nd and Perez being super utility guy.
  13. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/red-sox-agree-to-trade-with-brewers-relief-pitching-likely-headed-to-boston.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook no names yet, but looks like no work is getting done until this is known
  14. yeah obviously these moves were to try to create triple A depth. the brewers are in no position to not take advantage of the rule V draft and needed a roster spot.
  15. the cubs haven't changed their logo in forever, before last season nobody was complaining about the team was remembering the good old days of the 50's or oughts. there is nothing wrong about having a classic logo and being proud of it. it was a shame that the brewers took the most original logo in baseball and got rid of it for a stupid wannabe yankee or met one and a very bland one after that. end of rant.
  16. how about barley leaves as the baseball stitches
  17. never noticed that, great point. the brewers really need to pick a primary logo and go with it. Retro fridays were fine with the brewers using the barley 95% of the time. Now it seems like its 50/50, or even more ball and glove rather than barley M.
  18. Aoki was seen as a backup going into spring training and had no MLB experience. I cant see the brewers looking to platoon Thames right now.
  19. i also did notice that Counsell was at a toy drive in his retro uniform, which seemed odd to me:
  20. I will say that he has bulked up considerably since he left the US https://twitter.com/sung_minkim/status/803599496001167361/photo/1
  21. well last year the twins signed Byungho Park, who is 30 too and had 2 seasons of 50+ homers in Korea only to hit 12 in his first season in the bigs.
  22. 3 years 15 million+ guaranteed
  23. the article linked above suggested 3 / 15-18
  24. can't wait to see what the dollar value is on this one.
  25. Yeah I'd rather take a shot at the dartboard with a rule 5 pickup
