  1. This is typical when a new coach comes in, especially when trying to replace a charismatic coach like Buzz. Getting luke fisher is huge as well as keeping all of last years freshmen. Wojo needs to add atleast 1 player next season I believe, but could use the rest of the scholarships for the 2015-2016 school year. I think it is short sided to worry about next freshman class. although loosing Hill is not ideal. Their top freshman last season was red shirted. As a Marquette fan I am not going to worry too much until I see Wojo's first class. Until then we don't really know what type of player Wojo is going to bring in and how well he can sell top players on Marquette.
  2. Robinson is the type of player that could fall to 31. He won't be a star, but he will contribute. He does play the same position as wiggins or parker if that's where the bucks go with their 1st though. The advantage of keeping atleast 31 and 36 is that you don't have to sign these players to guaranteed deals and they are for only 1 year before they become restricted free agents. This gives the bucks some protection if they mess up the pick. If they get a 2nd first rounder he will have to be signed for 4 years guaranteed. The bucks have some $ issues by signing all of the free agents they did last summer to multi year deals.
  3. Giannis has said that he doesn't want to be on the same team as his brother because they play the same position. that being said if he is on the board at 36, I'd take him.
  4. Thornburg for davis would be a disaster right now
  5. #31 is valuable. A lot of the deep teams late in the draft will draft European players that will not be in the league next season. Always players projected to be drafted in the early 20's fall to 31. They will get a good player and not have to sign him to a multi year guaranteed deal.
  6. I don't think Overbay will be on the brewers the final day of the season. Ownership has said that they will make a move to get a player if they are in it. I wouldn't worry about a .208 hitter going to Pittsburgh. There will be a player like Morneau available in July if the brewers want. They have the pitching prospects to make the trade happen.
  7. the cell still has a need. Milwaukee and the wave are great tenants for the cell. They cannot draw the attendance needed for using the BC or the new arena. I think the BC is the arena that needs to be torn down. The issue that I see now, is that if we get a new arena, Milwaukee would have 3 basketball arena and 10 music venues (turner, rave, riverside, pabst, Milwaukee theatre, BMO pavilion, marcus Amphitheatre, BC, Cell, new arena) that brings in national acts. For a metropolitan population of 1 million people, this is WAY too much.
  8. interesting outside of the box idea, how about an area by Miller Park. Maybe the employee parking lot just west of the stadium. Parking would no longer be an issue downtown. Maybe Mark A would invest some in the arena, if he knew he could get some parking revenue. Still close enough to downtown. Creates a hub between Miller Park, the basketball arena, and potowatami. Moves the arena closer to Waukesha and the suburbs to the west. Seems like a no lose situation.
  9. I was worried when an investment banker from la bought the brewers, but it seemed to work OK. I would have felt better about the bucks sale if bridgeman was part of it. I guess though its not like they would be able to bring the bucks to their home town. that being said, they said all of the right things this afternoon. committing to invest 100+ million proves that they are committed to keeping the team here. Also being new owners I am sure they will want to make a splash this offseason which is exciting. I really hope that drew and Hammond are shown the door. I understand that turnover can be minimal since Hammond signed so many players to multi-year deals in the offseason. Will make for a much more interesting offseason than I was expecting.
  10. it was a disaster, and its hard to have a worse record than a team that didn't win for 2 months, hopefully wiggins or parker are on the way to the BC
  11. you knew that wojo was going to hire a former head coach to help him, so phelps makes sense. This year was tough for taylor, he was buried for no good reason. Buzz had a lot of good qualities, but his rotations this year made me wonder what he as doing. I think he instantly moves into the starting 4, so leaving makes little sense.
  12. major goolsbys, expensive, but i find them the best
  13. I think the minute the brewers had a design a jersey contest there was a sign that a uniform / jersey change was imminent. It gives the front office an idea of what the fans want. I hope that the new uniforms are not gold based, but have a gold accent. I would prefer that to "1982 yellow"
  14. I like them, I actually bought a lucroy one this season. They are different. The blue alternates were pretty cool when they were first introduced as a change between just grey and white. Half the league had blue jerseys and there was nothing special about them. I think its much cooler for teams to wear their secondary color on Sundays. Baltimore and SF wear orange, Seattle wears the green etc. It makes the brewers stand out between everyone else. I understand that you wouldn't want them to be worn all of the time but I'm OK with Sunday home games.
  15. I like what WWE is doing here, they have set up Bryan vs Lesnar at extreme rules. In addition Cesaro or Reins is definitely the next contender to get a title shot, finally some new blood in the title picture. While I do not like a part time wrestler breaking his streak, it gives creditability to Lesnar. Fans were not buying Bautista or Orton as the face of the company. It will be nice to get them out of the title picture for a bit, maybe the idea of them tagging up isn't that bad, the division really could use a shot in the arm after being strong for so long.
  16. WWE network is blocked in China, finally gave in to find out what happened during wrestlemania as I don't return home until Thursday evening and it is already a week out. Shocked about the warrior, atleast he got honored the way he deserved just days before his death.
  17. i heard that taylor was considering not leaving. Harris may be very talented but he seems like a headcase, a player that Buzz had no problem bringing aboard, but doesn't seem like a wojo (duke) player.
  18. it will be telling who Wojo brings in as assistant coaches. I would hope that they retain Wainright. I think a great choice would be Jay Williams if they can pry him from ESPN. I think as a young coach, an experienced staff would be important.
  19. the finale was packed and rushed. The complete opposite of the final season. Instead of devoting the entire season to 1 weekend, I wish they would have spread out the last episode over atleast a month. I don't get the point of rushing ted meeting tracy, barney and robin getting divorced, lily and marshall having a 3rd child, tracy dying, and robin and ted getting together in a hour.
  20. I really don't think it matters where they come from. I would rather get a young hungry coach than a coach like Howland who has some baggage (having no control of players at UCLA). The problem is that they have to keep them. The problem is that Marquette consistently makes good basketball hires and when teams in the Big 10 or ACC come calling they will take any job in the conference. I am worried that Wojo will become a great coach, only to leave for Duke once Coach K retires in 5 years and Marquette would be back to where they are now. I don't know how you correct this. The Big East has a ceiling I believe of where it can be and its under the ACC and Big 10.
  21. http://painttouches.com/2014/03/30/yahoo-marquette-targeting-duke-assistant-steve-wojciechowski/ I would love this hire for Marquette. Kind of a Buzz Williams type coach. Only concern is that after Coach K retires, he could leave us for Duke.
  22. Bill Cords will stay on for another year as the interim AD. This doesn't make sense. I know Marquette has a lot of hires to make before next school year. The new coach now has to wait a full season to find out who he is answering to. This isn't really saying that the athletic department is stable.
  23. Wiggins and Parker are franchise players. They have the capability to be 25-30 PPG players. Milwaukee has not had someone that can score that consistently since Michael Redd. This has been a problem. The greek freak has not shown any ability to shoot. They are very lacking. If Sanders can get his head straight and Henson continues to develop they may be OK inside. They need offense.
  24. Jeter will not be a candidate. Marquette needs to make a splash. Hiring Wardle or Jeter will no nothing to keep recruits / season ticket holders / donors / and help future recruiting. Jeter was on the verge on being fired this season before they got hot in February and March. Latest name being floated around the web is Bruce Weber. Makes sense but not sure how legit the rumors are.
  25. The fact that the president appointment was moved up a month, tends to make me think that MU is going to hire a big name coach and soon. I think having some stable leadership in place will make it more attractive to come to Marquette. I still think its going to be Howland or Smart and he will be named by Friday. Usually in cases like Smart, there is either an announcement from the coach or a raise in pay is made. Neither has happened. There has been no public comments from Smart. This leads me to think that he is still in play.
