  1. i agree, the wheel draft method is stupid. what the NFL has figured out is that parody is the best way for your league to succeed. This years draft has the potential to immediately increase the fortunes of 5 nba also-rans. Its bad enough that free agency clearly favors less than 10 franchises since star free agent will only go to large / warm cities, but to give those teams lottery picks half the time is insane. i know that there are teams that get top picks every year and still are bad. Also i know there are teams that fully intended on tanking this year. This though is at a cost since gate receipts, tv ratings, merchanise all suffer. Its too bad that the bucks really haven't had a top pick since bogut and really had no intention on tanking 2013-14.
  2. i agree with Mass Haas, i don't think it means something is happening soon. its no secret that the brewers are still trying to sign a 1st baseman. with a full 40 man roster, removing olmstead means they now can do it if a player is released or if a trade opportunity comes up.
  3. every year i make a mix tap for my friends of my top 20 songs of the year, this years countdown is: 20: edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros - better days 19 - thao and the get down - we the common 18 - portugal the man - modern jesus 17 - jesse dee - from the start 16 - she and him - never wanted your love 15 - california honeydrops - here comes love 14 - blitzen trapper - ever loved once 13 - the weeks - brother in the night 12 - Michael Franti and Spearhead - I'm alive (life sounds like) 11 - Teduschi Trucks Band - Part of Me 10 - Iron and Wine - Grace for Sinners and Ramblers 9 - Fitz and the tantrums - out of my league 8 - Daft Punk - Fragments of Time 7 - The Civil Wars - From this Valley 6 - Bastille - Pompeii 5 - Avicil - Wake Me Up 4 - The Avett Brothers - Open Ended life 3 - The Head and the Heard - Another Story 2 - Amos Lee - Chill in the Air 1 - Chance the Rapper - Interlude (thats love)
  4. i think we understand the concept, we object to the name. (atleast i do). is it cool that the brewers of my youth are finally getting honored in some way? yes. my problem is that players that led the national league in strikeouts are getting honored. I think there should be some sort of filter on who gets in and not make it a participation award, if its a wall of FAME.
  5. i like that the brewers have high standards to get into the walk of fame. the team was bad for so long, you wouldn't expect players of the 90's and 2000's to qualify. id rather have it like the packers ring of honor than the bucks who for a while would retire almost any decent players number.
  6. isn't that a braves hall of fame?
  7. http://brewers.mlblogs.com/2013/12/19/brewers-announce-plans-for-installation-of-brewers-wall-of-honor-at-miller-park/ seems like a very watered down hall of fame. cool to see some names from my youth that are not even close to being in the walk of fame. not sure what i think about this. Its a good idea, but i have a hard time honoring players like Jaime Navarro, Jose Valentin and Fernando Vina for generations to follow.
  8. favorite chirstmas special as a kid - year without a santa claus favorite chirstmas special - elf
  9. another deal that they will regret, i understand that this for a team that is close, but the mariners are not. I don't know why Jack Z would do this for a guy who is 31.
  10. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/new-york-notes-granderson-aoki-choo.html if melvin had the choice of ike davis and will smith, i think he chose wisely. of course we will never know if that was a legit trade offer or what else was offered, but I like the trade more knowing that the brewers had their eye on him for some time.
  11. yeah i hope the aoki bobbleheads for next season aren't in production yet.
  12. DM is on WSSP and said that Smith will be given the chance to start.
  13. I second (or third) this. Although I was FOR trading Aoki, I would have rather waited to see if we could have had something better at the deadline. How many 4/5-types do we need battling it out for mediocrity. i think you are overestimating the trade market for a 32 year old outfielder who will be a free agent in 2015. I'm sure Doug tried to get more and realized that this was the best he was going to get.
  14. the issue that has yet to be brought up, is now who bats leadoff? I don't see a viable candidate on the current starting 8.
  15. looks like he was a starter in 2012 and pitched out of the pen in 2013 to much better results. pitcher fits the DM prototype, we will have to see what the brewers will do with him.
  16. i am shocked that they are this bad, i know injuries share alot of the blame, but they are getting destroyed by teams that are worse or as bad as them. maybe hammond knew what he was doing all along, just disguised it better than teams like utah.
  17. i didn't realize that he is 32 either. he did have good numbers 2 season ago and can't be any worse than the current in house options.
  18. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/pirates-designate-garrett-jones-kyle-mcpherson.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook how does everyone feel about taking a flier on him. I know he never lived up to his promise but I always liked him. Could be in the running for 1st base.
  19. i think anytime 40,000 people are together in 1 small place in todays world, there is a risk that something bad may happen. I think in the past felt safe sending their kids to school or going shopping at a mall but that is no longer the case. Thankfully we have yet to have an incident at a sports arena / stadium. Slightly off subject but the case can be made that women do not need to bring their purse to a 3 hour ball game knowing that its going to get searched and hold up the line. I could though ruin the long tradition of allowing fans to bring their own drinks / sandwiches inside, since coolers have to be checked too.
  20. not much coming out of last nights PPV, but i am happy that it looks like they are finally going to unite the wwe and heavyweight championships. doesn't make sense to have 2 belts since clearly the wwe championship is a much bigger deal. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30824
  21. http://hutchnews.com/Pro/All-big-league-ballparks-to-screen-fans-in-2014 i know it was inevitable, but the lines on busy games takes forever as it is, this is only going to make it worse. I know when Lambeau implemented it, it made very long wait times until people got used to it. the problem at miller park is, that a large majority of fans enter the park right as the game is starting. its really going to take some planning and getting used to for fans to adjust to that.
  22. i believe this is his last year of arbitration, so it saves the club some cash.
  23. 2011 international free agent. will be 21 next season and hasn't gotten out of rookie ball yet. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=ortega005lui
  24. that is what is dumb about what Hammond did. He signed a bunch of average veterans to multi-year deals. If they were tanking they would have signed players to 1 year deals to get the pick.
  25. Goldschmidt should have won and further proves that players from teams that don't make the playoffs are ineligible.
