  1. brewers add AAA depth with signing Donnie Murphy http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/brewers-sign-donnie-murphy.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=facebook
  2. spotify is such a great tool. it allows people to actually preview cd's before they purchase them. while some may feel that it hurts record sales, it actually has caused me to purchase way more songs and cd's than in past years.
  3. overall i thought the ppv was pretty good last night, obviously the match between ryback team hell no vs the shield stole the evening. i kind of had a feeling AJ was going to screw Cena once she came on at the end of the match. i'm sure it will be because he screwed her chance of being the GM over their alleged affair.
  4. they will do something, i think they are waiting for the market to play out. i still think Marcum is coming here on a 1 year deal. I am sure they will bring in some relievers too. They just won't overpay by years or dollars so they are waiting.
  5. yes you have, but its like this every year
  6. from marquette's facebook site
  7. my top 10 in no particular order: 1) fun. - some nights 2) Avett Brothers - Carpenter 3) Brandi Carlisle - Bear Creek 4) Cold Specks - I predict a graceful explosion 5) Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Here 6) Mumford and Sons - Babel 7) Michael Kiwanuka - Home Again 8) Frank Ocean - Channel Orange 9) Kelly Hogan - I like to keep myself in pain 10) Of Monsters and Men - My Head is an animal
  8. i think he meant a #1 or #2 seed, which i believe is very possible as well. They have a top 10 recruiting class and will bring back some very good upperclassmen. This season is definitely a building year between loosing crowder and DJO and next season.
  9. i was thinking the Catholic Collegiate Conference or something like that, but with the addition of Butler that can't happen, not that accuracy of conference name means anything these days with 14 teams in the big 10, boise state in the big east, etc loosing Georgetown would be devastating to this conference and could blow the whole thing up IMO. I just don't see how going to say the A-10 without Butler and Xavier is a better option than joining this conference.
  10. the problem with this conference is their is no team that I can argue could be a #1 seed in the near future. The SEC, ACC, Big 12, and Big 10 all have that. I feel though this league will have more depth than the SEC and the Big 12 atleast.
  11. clearly this conference is not as good as the ACC or Big 10, but i think its better than the Pac 12 or Big 12 but I think its on par with the SEC. I think this is a great move for MU.
  12. i'm hoping it just means we are closer to Marcum back here for a 1 year deal.
  13. its just sad that football ruined the premier basketball conference in the country. the advantage of doing is that its going to help all the teams RPI's. none of schools the big east added are even close to replacements for the teams they lost, except for maybe memphis and temple. The disadvantage is of course, just like what the big east usually deals with, these schools could be totally worn about come March and have a rough time in the tournament.
  14. espn reported that this was likely. i hope so. i wonder if they will announce if they are forming their own conference or joining the A-10. A conference with 21 schools may be excessive. I'd probably rather see a 10 team stable conference with 10 quality schools.
  15. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/8736716/atlantic-10-open-adding-big-east-basketball-schools-creating-21-team-conference-source not sure if i like this idea better than forming a new conference but it does give Marquette some great new rivalries with some A-10 schools. This is a much better option than staying in the big east.
  16. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1441233-predicting-a-major-swerve-for-wwe-tlc very interesting opinion on what could happen on Sunday. I think the Ziggler - Cena match will be good
  17. i like it, but it reminds me alot of the Helena Brewers.
  18. i agree, signing Dempster would do all of this, but i can't see the brewers giving him more for 2 years than the Red Sox 25 million or the brewers going an extra year. my initial post was to point out that when the brewers have gotten burnt on free agent signings it was to give players an extra season to get them to come here. None of the signing have been Mike Hampton disasters which would have had an affect on the club for years.
  19. the linebrink trade was bad and I'd love to have thatcher on the team, but Inman has obviously not pitched the way we were thinking he would. Suppan was OK the first 3 years and obviously terrible the 4th. He was never worth what Melvin paid him but thats how starting pitching working on the FA market. plus i found the signing thread from 06 and most posters supported it. i always find it hard to criticize a GM for doing something i supported when it was made. that being said, i checked what Ennder had to say in the thread and he said: so criticizing the signing is perfectly acceptable in that case
  20. Melvin has obviously had some signings that didn't work out. the 3 ones that obviously stick out is gagne, soup, and wolf. none of them crippled the organization though since all 3 really fell off their final season of the deal.i think mark and doug has been willing to spend money but understand they have to do it smarter than everyone else.
  21. after watching RAW last night, there is nothing going on right now that interests me. Minus finally seeing the shield actually in a match and instead of just attacking people, there is no reason to watch TLC.
  22. well he may be in Boise this morning, but that doesn't mean he wasn't in Madison yesterday when the interview reportedly was supposed to happen. This search definitely is being held in as much secret as possible since no official candidates were leaked by the university.
  23. it is not officially part of a sponsorship agreement, although the font is pretty similar to miller's font. i would also like to see the logo come back. it seems to be a trend these days, of going retro. I would like to do something similar to what the blue jays did last season, although i would hope the brewers would update the color scheme from what they used in the 80's / early 90's.
  24. thats all true, but the difference is that the dodgers and yankees can make mistakes and recover. if the brewers do this and Greinke blows his arms out of is ineffective they are done for years. for now the brewers are set up to be able to make a serious run every few years, the dodgers appear to be in it every year for the a while now.
  25. while their payroll is going to be insane next season with these moves and the sox trade last season, they are probably the favorites in the NL now. Just imagine once they have to pay Kershaw where their payroll will be.
