  1. i agree dhonks, i had xm and you really don't find out about local concerts and happenings. there is something that can be said about local programming. I eventually canceled it for that reason, even though fm1021 and radio milwaukee seem to be the only stations around town that are even close to the music i enjoy.
  2. art howe was recently released from the rangers. could it be him? never mind if the bench coach has nl experience, so i doubt its him
  3. I think internet is changing everything. Since any niche format is easily found with internet radio, every radio station is playing very similar playlists in order to entice as many listeners as possible instead of catering to people who enjoy music out of the main stream.
  4. they took the video off
  5. don't know where to put this, but here is a video of the "celebration" from last night.
  6. i think its more we don't want too loose someone who has helped us find talent. The bigger beef was that he was mentioned as a possible replacement.
  7. that would be the one, i know it was on sunday night which is when the post was made. hopefully we don't have to wait too much longer to see if the rumors are true.
  8. then it was on jsonline, i know i read it somewhere on sunday evening, and i can't seem to find the link...
  9. Really, hadn't heard. I guess you're pretty well-connected. if by well connected, you mean i read Haurdicourt's blogs, then yes I am
  10. i'm not, the bad interview has been the word around town for a few days now.
  11. i think he went to dallas 2 seasons ago, to golden state last year, signed with indy in the off season and was released on thursday.
  12. i think a banner that says playoff appearances 81,82,08 would be fine.
  13. the scarier thing is the possibility of scouts moving to the mariners organization.
  14. well the problem is that the team quit without willie too. I'm warming up to Brenley only because the other "known candidates" don't inspire me. I could live with Randolph or Brenley, provided that they learned something from their previous mistakes. Hopefully, like Yost showed this year, Brenley can improve how he handles his pitching staff. I think Macha would be a poor choice for a young team like ours. I'm happy to read that there has been no known contact between melvin and showalter. I still really don't have an opinion on Tracy. I do hope there is a mystery candidate that noone is talking about.
  15. there is one of the victory celebration from clinching the wildcard, i have it on my computer now. http://mlb.mlb.com/mil/im...d_wallpaper_1280x1024.jpg
  16. Brewers set to host "Fan Appreciation Sale" at Miller Park FanZone store beginning Friday MILWAUKEE -- The Miller Park FanZone store will be hosting a "Fan Appreciation Sale" beginning this Friday. Postseason gear as well as other select Brewers apparel will be marked down 25 - 75%. The sale will last through Sunday. The FanZone store, located in the Hot Corner at Miller Park, will have extended hours during the sale. The store will be open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Fans may call the Brewers FanZone Store at 414-902-4750 for more information. http://milwaukee.brewers....mp;fext=.jsp&c_id=mil looks like those who didn't run out and get playoff stuff will get their chance this weekend. I personally have a field sweatshirt, locker room shirt and hat so i am good.
  17. i agree, my stance was always that if we can get someone better than sveum then fine let him go. I don't see these 5 as better only more expensive. Of course we have no idea who melvin is truely interested in as everything as come from sources by TH. Its completely different then in 02, when we knew everyone that was being interviewed and actually had a press conference after their interview.
  18. if a position is open in the ATL, i'm sure he will get it. whether thats a bullpen, 1st, 3rd, or bench coach. I don't know if there is one open though.
  19. as someone who is out at bars just about once every weekend in milwaukee i can help. if you want to do water street, there are not that many choices, where you won't pay and arm and a leg and deal with drunk people wanting to start a fight. Now just 2 blocks to the east is milwaukee street. this is becoming quite a night spot and there are some great bars in this area. Kennedees, 3, zim's are decent choices depending what you are looking for. I also like to check out the bars on jefferson street downtown. I'd recommend mikey's (live music every friday and saturday), taylors, or flanery's. North avenue and brady have good bar scenes, but again you are asking for trouble by going down there. I have always found parking to be much easier on milwaukee or jefferson than north, brady, or water. When i was 21, i was always hanging out on water, but now 7 years later I have found that I have a much better time at. also just to be clear, these bars are not ones that are going to be dead, or play lame old music at. they just seem to draw a slightly older crown (later 20's, 30's) and therefore draw less trouble then the college bars on north, water, or farwell.
  20. you can get some at radioshak, back when i had those types of headphones i always went there for replacements.
  21. i think there is no way the brewers inquire and they don't ask for yo or manny back. Also the story mentions wanting a CF back. I think the trade would look like yo or manny, cain, and maybe a jeffress. That is quite a steep price, but 4 years of peavy may be worth it.
  22. while he deserves a chance, i'd like to see him run another draft with up to 6 picks in the first 2 rounds.
  23. i agree that Zduriencik has been more responsible for the teams success, that doens't mean i'd just let Jack Z be the GM and let Melvin walk. Bottom line is Melvin has extensive GM experience, has pulled off some huge trades. Zduriencik has a great eye for talent and is an excellent scouting director. I don't see that being a direct correlation to being a great GM. There are money decisions in the horizon for the brewers and I'd rather let Doug make them then Jack. without the extensive knowledge of the brewers farm system as others on this board, would Reid Nichols be a logical replacement for Jack?
  24. there is noone on the list that TH came up with that excites me, besides maybe Davey Johnson. If that is really the list, i'd just hope we'd retain Sveum, tell him Iorg has to go and the rest of the staff can stay.
  25. it sounds fun, but ill just throw out that it sounds familar to nfl head coach which i found to be pretty bad.
