Maybe the Cubs wouldn't have even tried to cut him down with a 4 run lead?

I think that is true, but it was also fielded by Ramirez while going towards 2nd. I don't think there's any way he makes that throw to home.

That Hart catch will make BBTN later. They love those type of catches, lol.

Marquis is only at 77 pitches through 7. He may go CG on us if we're not careful.

Wow. Counsell is Ned's first choice off the bench?

Rickie is absolutely brutal right now. I think it may be time to give him some rest again, not looking good at all.

Unless he's hurting again, I wouldn't think they way to bust out of a slump is by riding the pine.

Everytime Rickie has been in a slump and rested a little bit he came back out on fire. I don't know if his wrist is bothering him or not, but he has not looked very comfortable at the plate this season.

I thought Ned looked a little peeved earlier today. I hope he lights into the guys a little bit after this one. Yeah, they had some bad luck with some hard hit balls, but overall they haven't looked very sharp, mnetally or physically. Maybe they were just happy to bounce back, get 1 yesterday and not lose too much ground in the series. Today was a day for killer instinct and it just wan't there. All too often in their losses the Crew makes guys like Marquis look way too good.

Not writing off the 9th, but this team has to aggresively attack the rest of this road trip.

Well I can't get too down if the Brewers end up losing this game...didn't a lot of us say that we'd be fine with getting just 1 out of 3 and seeing the Cubs only gain a single game? Yeah, it sucks that the Brewers blew the first game, but that'll happen. Gotta dust off and head to Pittsburgh.

Counsell has been red-hot lately. Not sure why he's not a legitimate option currently.

I understand why Yost picked him. I'd argue that Counsell is still just Counsell. Not like it's going to matter for this game.

Emotionally, I would have liked this series but it's hard to get too worked up about the Cubs gaining 1 game on the Brewers in 3 days.

Well we won our two games even if we only got 1 win to show for it because of the come from behind loss. This series more or less played out like I thought it would if Cordero just doesn't have one of his rare blown saves.

I'd say going 13-4 in their past 17 is making a pretty good statement, but it would've been nice to win this series. It's not the end of the world, though, and it's definitely not a series that will propel the Cubs on some ridiculous hot streak -- they were already on that streak before the series even started. They'll cool down eventually...not too much to worry about. Now if the Cubs sweep the Nats and the Brewers lose 3 of 4 in Pittsburgh, I'd start to get worried. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

i still feel like the brewers won this series. We out hit them, we out pitched them and i feel that we won that first game. I know it was 1-2 but i think it could have easily been 2-1. Either way our schedule is favorable, we have a lot of lefties coming up and i think we will stay hot until the all star break.

not blaming Mother Nature here, but even if it's a calm/no-wind day (yeah, I know, in Chicago?!?!?!?) the Brewers have about 3 homers today and about 7-8 runs. Of course, the Cubs would have also done the long ball dance and scored about the same.
