Elmer Dessens has a sweet job.

What do think is in that job description? "Looking for an over the hill reliever to pitch in garbage time with nothing on the line. Salary in the $1M range."

I thought Ned should have taken Spurling out of the game after the home run, and that Ned should have had a plane ticket to Nashville in his hand.

Spurling fails again.

If any of you guys think he is a major league pitcher...please throw something at me. Ben Henrickson is seriously better than this clown.

Give it a rest here with the Ned crap! He's done nothing wrong with the pen today http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif

Ben Hendrickson never threw 70+ AL innings and had an ERA under 3.50 before. Spurling's fine in low-leverage situations.

I dont think Spurling is used to people cheering for him. That is why he threw that last pitch into the dirt 5 feet in front of the plate.

Now that the tying run is in the on-deck circle, Cordero comes in. Saves are so silly.

I couldn't figure out why you guys were talking about stuff I hadn't seen yet.

Then I realized that I was watching the DVR about 3 minutes behind because I had to go review something earlier.

The "tying run on deck" rule for a save makes sense. That's where a manager would likely upgrade his reliever anyway, give him a little margin to work with, in case he grooves one.

Thoughts:

One pitch saves tend to save your closer's arm.

and

JJ Hardy is a beast right now.

This, frankly was the series I was worried about... and we are assured now of at least a split...

I love this team right now... Right now feels like what it felt like watching the Packers early Favre era... you know good things are coming, you're just not certain what or how...
