don't really like the lineup. Hart has struggled. I'd rather see Cameron or Hardy bat leadoff, even though I admit there is not a good option with Weeks out and Counsell sitting. I do like Hall batting 2nd against the lefty though.

I don't like this lineup. It just doesn't appeal to me. I just don't see the point of playing McGehee for one. Gamel can hit lefties just as good as he hits righties. But putting that aside, I don't see Hall being productive in the 2 spot because of his free-swinging mentality. Yes, he will see fastballs in front of Braun, but he has to actually hit them for that to matter. I would've left Hardy in the 2 spot.

Gamel hasn't proven that he can hit ML lefties, and as we saw last night, his lack of defense can change the course of a game. We've got plenty of guys in this lineup that pound lefties and we don't need to put a defensive liability out there with Gallardo Bush on the mound

Edited: to fix starting pitcher

If we can get to Hampton early, then I don't think we'll have too big of a problem tonight. Here's hoping McGehee cranks a couple hits out and proves a little something tonight. Is there any word on who the Crew called up to take Rickie's roster spot?

Im ok with Hart leading off. It feels like at least one time per year we come to Houston Hart is leading off. I expect a big series from him.

Hate Hall hitting 2nd. Let Hardy bat 2nd already.

I would have flipped Cameron and Hall in the lineup. Have Hall bat 5th with his excellent numbers against lefties. Later in the game you could always switch Hall with Gamel when they bring in a right hander in to face Hall. And you would still have Iribarren and Counsel on the bench to put in for defensive purposes.

Leaving aside the botched rundown, why would you not throw home and get that runner and let the guy on first go to second?
Posted
They couldn't get the guy at home. When Fielder had the ball he wasn't running, and if Fielder threw home he would've just went back to second, and the other guy would also have gotten to second. By the time Hardy got the throw from Fielder it was too late to throw home without the risk of them both being safe.

That failed rundown may end up on the Not Top Ten this week. Oy.

I think the blame goes to McGehee because he ran towards Bourn even though the play was already close the bag. By the time he caught the ball he had more or less overrun Bourn already and couldn't reach him for the tag.

At some point I'd think Prince could have turned his attention to the other runner. A successful pickoff with runners on first and third does not normally result in a run scoring.
