Steve Phillips: As Bad at Extramarital Affairs as He is at Baseball Analysis [Latest: Fired by ESPN--reply #32ish]

That's more than I ever wanted to know about Steve Phillips reproductive organs.

Maybe this will benefit us all when he goes the way of Harlod Reynolds.

He apparently judges looks about as well as talent.

(rim shot)

What struck me is that this isn't out of the ordinary at The Worldwide Leader. Very disappointing, but not surprising. Nobody's perfect (especially true for me), but when that mentality gets ingrained at that level, something is definitely wrong. This story may grow some legs.

If you picked up on that, DH, definitely check out Deadspin.com today & in the coming days. I have a feeling this could get very, very ugly for ESPN. Here's the quote at the end of the Phillips story from site editor A.J. Daulerio:

"And since the tenuous connection between rumor and fact for accuracy's sake has been a little eroded here, well, it's probably about time to just unload the inbox of all the sordid rumors we've received over the years about various ESPN employees. Chances are, at this point, there's some truth to them. We'll just throw 'em out there and see how many 'no comments' or, you know, actual comments or 'you would be completely wrongs' there are about these situations. Consider this one giant all-day version of 'Deleted Scenes' or something."

He'd contacted ESPN last month on a tip he'd gotten about the Phillips story on Sept. 9th of this year...

"After a call to ESPN public relations department asking about the 'rumor' I was told that 'I would be wrong' to print that story because it was inaccurate. Fine. I would have been. But natural follow-up question to these types of rumors, as per give-and-take protocol, is well, what's the real story then? Was there an incident with Phillips that Baseball Tonight people are concerned about? However I was summarily nothing-to-see-here-please-dispersed."

Everyone, grab your popcorn, sit back, & watch. Deadspin has already made another post starting with radio 'personality' Erik Kuselias... "as tiny an orb as he may be in the ESPN galaxy..." To potential link-clickers & readers, please keep in mind -- this is Deadspin, and there will be some nsfw language.

Thanks for the quotes, TLB. This is gonna be a fun one to watch if it keeps up, but I have a feeling that the PR machine in Bristol is running overtime to squash this.

Screw integrity. We'll play the odds!

I hope they get sued and lose. A couple times.

This excuses nothing. There is no form of reporting, or even simple conversation, that isn't subject to a moral code.

At the risk of being shallow. . . Besides being a psycho, this girl is built like Mike Scioscia.

For Phillips to risk his career and his family for such an obvious mistake is so telling. After the Harold Reynolds episode, I can't see them bringing him back.

Next up on Baseball Tonight, Buster Olney bops Lulu Roman. . .

Yeah, that is definitely the worst of the pictures I saw. Even her best was, um...unimpressive. She looks like a dude.

You'd expect better from a TV guy sneaking around on the wife. Or maybe not.

At the risk of sounding chauvinistic and demeaning...WOOF. I've had better bar pickups than her, and I am no TV personality.

There really is a strong resemblance. Good call JimH5.

It's subject to readers'/viewers' judgment as to whether or not they want to read/look. Obviously it doesn't meet your moral standards, and that's fine.

These are also pictures of Brooke Hundley. She's definitely not a 10, but appears to be a pleasant looking young woman. The photo above is pretty unflattering ... but I did enjoy the Mike Scioscia comparison.

Those are her "Myspace" or "Facebook" pictures. Every "plain" girl has them. Perfect lighting and angles.... I'm just wondering, where is the photo with the pushed up cleavage? They all seem to have one of those too.

The debate over whether or not morality is subjective of objective is for another forum. I will say that I lean towards the latter and therefore reject you justification of Deadspin above.

If one of my buddies hooked up with that girl, I would rip on him pretty good. Therefor I will rip on Steve Phillips and I am behind any news publication that helps me in that quest.

I reject any arguments you make that don't agree with me, Sam. Stalemate! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

There's no way Steve Phillips is only 46.

Phillips' page on baseball-reference.com says he was born May 18, 1963. He started his pro career in 1981 which is the year he would have graduated from HS.

Posted
Drafted in June of his graduation, made his debut latter that summer or in AFL. That doesn't seem strange or outside a normal person's career. Also, maybe he skipped a year or two in school and graduated earlier.
