New Scoreboard update for Miller Park in 2011

I am a little concerned about the size of the scoreboard. If anything it is too big. Other stadiums (Kansas City, Atlanta, Arizona) have center field scoreboards, but they are much farther away from the field and/or higher up than Miller Park's scoreboard. Kansas City's is vertically orientated and the brightness had to be toned down because it was distracting catchers on high pitches. With Miller Park being indoors and having glass everywhere, there is a real potential for there to be glare problems. The Brewers will absolutely have to use a black or navy background, otherwise the thing could literally overpower the stadium lights and illuminate the players on the field.

Judging by the photos, I think it is high enough that it will not be a problem, and I am looking forward to seeing it (on TV).

I don't have a really good eye for this stuff, and my Photoshop skills are lacking. But I borrowed a picture of the old scoreboard from Steve Garczynski's Twitter page and attempted to trace in the video portion of the new board.

The red outline represents the video portion only. When I compare this to the pictures in this topic's lead, it seems a little large. But to me, the actual photos posted recently seem to make the scoreboard look a little larger than we see in the mockups.

Am I close?

Casey, that looks correct based on the construction photos. It's going to be a monster.

The reason that the photos of the new one look "small" is because the supports for the advertisements around the board have been extended out by about 25 feet in both directions.

Its gonna be sweet when I win the promo to play games on that thing.... lol

But still... its also the scoreboard too, thats something. I just hope its no TOO bright...

Here's a side-by-side comparison, using the picture that AJAY posted above.

That looks about right. I remember they had a rendering of it last season in one of the free programs they hand out at games. My son and I could not believe the size of it.

I did a mock-up like that of the rendering on a backdrop of Miller Park.

My very crude photo editing update of what the scoreboard will really look like after the season.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

Nice pictures, but I think it is about 10 feet wider on both sides. The advertising panels now extend past those green supports under the Pepsi sign. From the perspective of the last few pictures, the "Journal Sentinel" advertisement will be about 1/3 blocked by the advertising boards. The final renderings show that those advertisement boards will be removed, which I hope is the case.

Based on the photo that AJAY posted, I think that wOOgiE22's mockups more accurately depict the video screen itself and that the original rendering more accurately depicts the ads.

Yeah, they are all good representations and a few feet here and there do not make much of a difference.

John Steinmiller tweeted a day or two ago that they were expecting to hang the "Miller Park" sign on Friday, so we may get an "updated" picture of the progress sometime in the next couple days.

Here is a picture from the removal of the old scoreboard. This looks tiny compared to the new board.
