Pepsi Refresh Project: Treyton Kilar Field of Dreamsâ?¦ final result: finished third

A friend of mine lost her 6-year old cousin last year when he was killed by a drunk driver. He loved baseball and the hope is to build a baseball field in his honor in the Whitewater Area. The Field is one of the contenders on the Pepsi Refresh Project site, in the running for $250,000. You can vote/learn more about it here: http://www.refresheverything.com/treytonkilar

It's really easy to vote and you can do it every day during the period of the project. If you could spread the word and let other people know about this, that would be great. Let's tackle this like we're voting in Corey Hart to the 2008 All-Star Game.

This was quicker than registering with pepsi.

I like the idea of texting, but the I'm lost with the directions. Which information goes where?

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I believe the number for Pepsi is 73774. Enter 105500 to vote for the specific project.

People need to vote for this and throw all support possible toward it. Here is a link to an article on this:

I'm not easily swayed by these types of stories, but what a special little kid. Hopefully- if it hasn't been already- this is forwarded to Brewers charities and Prince. Everything I've heard about Prince is that he loves kids, and he might get involved in some way to honor one of his biggest fans.

My father works with Mr. Kilar and I can tell you Prince has already gotten involved.

For one, he personally sent flowers to the funeral; and there is also an auction that's going to be held at Miller Park and he's vowed to donate a bunch of stuff to get auctioned off.

Back to 2nd place. You can vote once per day via text. Does anyone have a relationship with TH? Maybe he'd include it in a blog post.

Voted, tweeted, Facebooked, and blogged.

And it looks like TH has blogged about this as well. I'd really like to see this get done...hopefully more of the well-known voices in the Brewers community will speak up about this, too, and we can get a real push going in the last 15 days of voting.

I'm glad to see that TH blogged about it. Do you think the Brewers brass has seen it?

I see that this project currently ranks second.

Hey guys, what a sad story but an awesome outcome! I e-mailed Tom Silverstein (The JSonline Packers beat writer) and he said he is going to make a blog regarding the story tomorrow as well. I thought it would be a good idea because a lot of Wisconsin sports fans are focusing at the Packers at this time.

Let's get this field built!!

I voted and tweeted about it yesterday. I read the story that was in the journal as well. Very tough thing to read, very sad.

Yes, yes, yes! Please repost this wherever and invite people to this event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118782111528920

It really only takes a few seconds and even possibly getting at least one additional vote makes a difference!

Thank you to everyone who has helped support this!

Tomorrow's the day the voting ends. Has anyone been able to figure out what time?

Adam McCalvy reports that the Kilar family has dropped to third place in the voting. Only the top two get funding. If you haven't already today, please vote. Apparently you can vote three times a day -- once apiece via text, Facebook, and the website. They're all great projects, but I think it would mean a lot to the Brewers community if the Kilar family was able to get the grant.

Currently in 3rd place.

The project was mentioned on the local news in Madison this evening. Hopefully it gets more folks voting.
