Yeah it probably is dumb. In fact, the save stat leads to two dumb decisions involving closers.

I love how earlier in the game BA and Rock are talking about having so many good pitchers in our bullpen is a good problem to have, and it will be really hard to decide who to send down when everyone is healthy. Honestly our bullpen isn't very good. Loe and Axford are the only two I have any confidence in. Braddock is my boy, but he hasn't been good this year at all.

 

Green?? Axford could have easily tossed another inning. Frustrating

Why didn't we DL Mitre immediately after the injury if he's not able to pitch? We can't afford to have dead weight on the active roster and limit another option from the pen.
