The Magical Magic Number is… (part 1)

After losing to the Pirates in extra innings, the Cardinals flipped us (in a classy way) this one:

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Sorry - been a Bears - and Bulls - fan about as long as I've been a Brewers fan - a weird quirk that comes from being in a military family in the 1980s.

No worries. I was actually a bit of a Bears fan around their Super Bowl run. It was primarily because my mom was a native Chicagoan and a Bears fan, but I was just a kid, the Packers were awful, I didn't really know any better, and I loved Walter Payton.

It's been a long, long time since I was so foolish (I feel no shame in being a Payton fan, though). And while my mom used to root for both the Bears and Packers, depending on who had more to gain by winning, she has been a 100% Packers fan and 0% Bears fan for a couple decades now. The metamorphosis is complete. Good woman, she is.

For me, I picked my teams as a kid, and have stuck with them ever since. The Brewers, Bears, and Bulls were - and still are - my teams.

How many games until Houston is officially eliminated from playoff contention?

Astros' tragic number is 7.

So they should be eliminated by Sunday or Monday. Pretty pathetic.

Just curious, are you guys looking up the ex Brewers players by number somewhere? Or is this all from memory? I've been googling it but not having much success.

Some of mine are from memory, but the Brewers' media guide has a uniform number history list, so you can see who a number has been assigned to since 1970. Finding images of some of the way-back guys - as Brewers, and ideally with the uniform number showing - can be a challenge, but it's a nice problem to have.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I've learned to never underestimate the memory of Brewerfan.net posters.

I can't wait until we can post a picture of King George!

That looks more like two trees getting it on than any number I can see.

Think about it with an Irish accent!
