Mike Cameron hangs it up

Very underrated career. The comparison that was making the rounds yesterday on Twitter is that Cameron had a higher career WAR than Kirby Puckett. He was still a very valuable player in his years here.

I bet he ends up as a coach somewhere, if he has interest in that. He seems like he would be a good clubhouse/mentor guy to have around.

But he untucks his jersey and has fun playing the game. There is no way he should be allowed to poison young players. /blue

As I mentioned in response to Hofbraunhaus's post on this in the random MLB news thread, kudos on a really good career to Mike. Sad to see him go, but glad that we got to enjoy him for a while with the Brewers.

One of my favorites ever. Great guy, good-to-great player, and one of the most enjoyable guys to watch play CF.

Not to mention, that absolutely MONSTER August of 2008 that he had that really was a huge part of the team finally making the playoffs for the first time in my life.

He was an amazing CF, one of the most underrated players ever -- because his value was in defense, power, and walks.

Watching him from up in the Terrace Box was something awesome. It almost seemed like he knew where the ball would go before it was hit.

Love Mike Cameron. I like when good players are also good guys, and you had to see through some of the traditional stats to see how good he was. I'm so glad he had a couple of years in Milwaukee. Invader3k is right -- he's a great coaching / managing candidate if he wants to go that route. But for now, I hope he gets to relax and enjoy the fruits of an excellent career.

I would love to see him back in Milwaukee in some kind of capacity. Seemed to be the perfect vet for that 2008 team. Lots of leadership in that man.

Untuckem!
