I missed the reasoning behind the call-up for Harper, as I was at a friend's house for some happy hour festivities after work. Did someone get hurt?

Will he have Super Two status?

Without a doubt if he stays up all year.

I'd be shocked if he was league average or better this year and I would take the over on 1 trips back to the minors. Very strange timing on this since he didn't do very well in AA last year and has struggled in AAA this year. Still an exciting time for Nats fans and they sure could use it.

I think the timing makes good sense. With Michael Morse out the Nats left fielders Xavier Nady and Mark DeRosa have really been struggling badly. Now Zimmerman is injured too they can't afford to keep these .100 hitters in the lineup. The nationals are currently in 1rst place and should do what's best to stay competitive. The time clock has passed where the Nats don't lose a year of Harper for calling him up. It's finally an exciting time for nationals baseball the wanna put people in the seats. Lots of good reasons for the call up. Mainly he is their best option at this point. If he struggles he can go back down when Morse is healthy in a month or so.

It'll be fun to watch him play. He's only 19 and is hitting just .250 this season in AAA (small sample though of 80 or so at-bats).

I suppose with their hot start the Nationals think they have a decent chance of competing for an NL East title this year, but I just don't get this unless it's a 15-day type of call-up. Harper needs more time in the minors. In ~200 AA/AAA PA's, he's OPS'ing around .725. I'll be very surprised and impressed if he cracks a .275/.350/.400 line in the majors if he's not just up for some coffee.

The kid just threw JHJ out at home plate, only JHJ slapped the ball out of the catchers hand. Look for the replay. Harper's throw couldn't have been more on target.

That throw was unbelievable. An absolute seed

A bit off topic, but it seems like the Dodgers have giveaways at almost every game. Ethier tote bag, Kershaw t shirt, Dodgers mini cooler..

You would think "you get to watch Matt Kemp live and in person" would be enough of an incentive, but apparently that doesn't work.
