Looks at stat sheet, confused if this is a joke or a Twins fan masquerading as a Brewers fan….

He's having a down period but still making relatively consistent contact

He carried the Brewers through May almost single handed and for that is worth the cash considerations alone

It's kind of tough to argue otherwise

PS I'm a diehard brew crew fan

Dude, stop it with your passive-aggressive nonsense.

And Miller has been really useful on a team that has been ravaged by injuries and has seen several role-players and rookies struggle. Yeah, he hasn't been good the past couple of weeks. He was good and very useful in the ~150 plate appearances before that point. And he gets bonus points for not being completely helpless against LHP.

Seems like a pretty good deal for straight-up cash.

What Miller did in May is certainly worth the cash, there are very few players even around the league that will hit like he did for a month. However, what he is doing now is what he did with Cleveland last year. Started hot but pretty bad the rest of the year. Hoping he can figure something out this time around  and become a more consistently good player.

I didn't expect... well, anything really, from Miller so his small burst of output was a welcome surprise.

He's a 40-man insurance policy that might help the team for a season or two. Given that he's still 26 years old, hopefully he has a little more development and advancement left to untap.

It’s not passive aggressive. If want to call picking up a journeyman utility infielder with a career OPS if .650 for cash considerations “a hell of a deal”. Fine.

Then I’m equally free to assume you don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to Brewers baseball, Dude. For example, picking up Jesus Aguilar from Cleveland for nothing, then having him make an All Star team is a “hell of a deal” to me.

There is a difference between sarcasm and passive-aggressive. Too often folks with thin skin cry passive-aggressive when their opinion is met with sarcasm. I don’t think I can be any more direct in disagreeing with your opinion here.

It has to do with your constant challenging of peoples’ fandoms. Yes, it’s passive aggressive and against the rules of the forum. Go ahead and disagree with my take on Miller, that’s fine. Don’t make me, or any other poster, part of your argument.

I have anything but a thin skin. I’ve had people on Twins Daily call me a fake fan because I run a Brewers website. Gatekeeping and fandom purity tests are boring 100% of the time and anathema to running a healthy, growing community.

So, please stop.

But that’s the point, I didn’t make you part of the argument. Your opinion was dumb, and I was literally curious if you were joking or trying to keep  the posts fresh because you own the place and clicks and traffic mean dollars.

Picking up a role player for cash is a good deal. “A hell of a deal”? Eh, maybe I overstated it but getting one win out of Miller for cash has been really useful in keeping the Brewers’ head above water.

And here is where we can agree to disagree. Hernan Perez has a career OPS of .680 and is out of the major leagues. The Brewers paid cash for a guy who has been worse so far in his career.

Owen Millers current 99 wRC+, even after the slump this month, is higher than what Perez put up in any season of his career. I don't care what Owen Miller did with the Guardians in 2021, I care about what the Brewers are getting from him. 99 wRC+, 1.3 fWAR while playing 5 different positions is a really good return for a cash trade and at minimum salary. Miller has been one of our better players this year; partly due to others sucking, but he has been a solid player. Who we got for essentially nothing. A deal doesn't have to be the best deal of all time to be considered good.

This is the truth.

The Brewers hitters outside Yelich and Contreras have been awful this year. Nobody has even  gone on a lengthy hot streak in a very long time. Therefore,  perceptions get altered, and a guy with a good month gets viewed as something more.

I don’t think anyone here would have Owen Miller in their list of the ten or fifteen best middle infielders in the Division, and most likely he wouldn’t be starting regularly for any other team in the Division either (Miller has started 50 of 74 games for the Brewers).

So it’s sad for us fans that the Brewer hitters are so bad, and thus we end up acknowledging the achievement of Brewer hitters being mediocre.

@Mass Haas, with your attention to detail, please let me know if you ever want to go into safety critical software development.  And I know I'm in your "neighborhood".  😉

Thank you for being focused and accurate with your work here!

Oh...well, there ya go! Couldn't have been a good deal! He showed you how he went 1-7 and struggled
the last 30 games!!!

Not worth "cash considerations," which is probably 50K?

Proof...🙄
