I am looking to make my first visit to Miller park next season and was wondering what are the better hotels to stay at. taking the wife so we need somewhere near resturants and shops also in a good neighbhood. I was wonder if any of the hotels have shuttle service to the games or public transportation. We will be flying in From NY and was wondering how much cab fare will be to the hotels. I was wondering if Milwaukke a walking city like NY or Bost.

Thanks

It really depends what you are looking for, do you want to stay in the burbs or be somewhere in the downtown area? There is usually a lot to do in Downtown Milwaukee during the summer and there are places downtown that have shuttles to the Brewer games. Hard to compare Milwaukee to NY or Boston, cabs are hard to find, there isn't a rail system and areas of downtown can be pretty dead at night. There is a mall downtown for your wife but it is on its last legs, plenty of restaurants and a couple of nice museums though. Basically need to know Milwaukee or burbs and can go from there. Public transportation isn't the best around here so if you stay in the burbs your options may be limited unless you rent a car.

A cab from the airport to downtown will cost you about $30.

As far as hotels, depending on what you want to spend The Pfister, The Intercontinental, and the Hotel Metro are all nice.

Lots of bars do shuttles to Brewer games, I'm sure the list will change going into next season.

You can also take a bus to the games, there is a bus that runs from downtown to the stadium on game days, and a bus 3 or so blocks from the park that runs a bit more often.

Not sure which hotels provide the service but Mo's Irish Pub and Milwaukee Brat House in the downtown area do. Yes, Pfister has the ghosts but can be expensive. If you see a hotel that interests you it wouldn't hurt to e-mail or give them a call regarding if they ever provide shuttle service.

Also while cabs are difficult to flag down if you're walking around they're by no means hard to find if you're staying at a hotel downtown or at a place like the casino or Miller Park or the Bradley Center etc

I agree with these hotel choices, and would add The Iron Horse Hotel. Milwaukee is definitely not a walking city like NY. Depending on what you're interested in seeing/doing the city is pretty spread out. You would need a cab to get to the zoo, casino, Miller Park, some of the restaurants, etc.

However, if you strictly stay downtown, you could get away with no renting a car. Many ways to get to Miller Park from your hotel. Depending on when you'll be in town, you definitely need to get down to the Summerfest grounds.

Its a little farther out but the Best Western Midway on Moorland Rd (South of I-94,close to Brookfield Square) has an airport shuttle. Ive had a few occasions where they have taken me to Miller Park, but they say its not guaranteed and up to the driver and time permitting.

Have you narrowed down your visiting time to a particular month or series yet? You might want to keep track of whether your visit overlaps with Summerfest, State Fair or one of the other festivals.
Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
